I’m excited to share my unforgettable trip to the Xingtai Ocean Park last Sunday with you. During the trip, I happened to participate in a photography contest with the theme “Wonderful Ocean Moments” and surprisingly won an award. My entry featured a dolphin gracefully leaping out of the water, its body shinning in the sunlight—a perfect representative of the park’s beauty and vitality. Judges said “it vividly presents the lively ecosystem of the ocean, making people feel connected to nature.” I’m looking forward to hearing about your recent adventures and exchanging ideas about photography. Let’s catch up soon! Yours, Li Hua Finally, I gave in. Instead of working in my tightly scheduled world, I decided to try to make tomato sauce on my own. Once outside, the fragrance of tomatoes enveloped me. I strode into the garden, picked up the tomatoes and happily returned to the kitchen. I washed the tomatoes, cutting away sections that were spoiled, sliced and threw them into the pot and then stirred the watery mixture as if I were washing gold. Difficult as this was for me, I struggled to finish it. Never in my life had I expected myself to do things without being planned. A great sense of achievement welling up in my heart and surging through me, I could not wait to share the tomato sauce with my parents. My parents were quite surprised when they came back a week later. Upon their entry, they were greeted by the tomato sauce in the kitchen, and seized with great surprise. Noticing their looks, I explained what had happened and invited them to take a bite of it. Both tasting it, they declared it was delicious out of this world. In the meantime, my mother pulled me into her arms, patted me on the back and said, “It is not the delicious tomato sauce but the change of your attitude to keeping yourself away from plans that really surprised me.” Only then did I realize I had missed so many opportunities from my friends and family and that the tomatoes would change my life. Tears slipped from my eyes, rolled down my cheeks and dripped onto the tomato sauce, which as if by magic turned into the most precious gift to my growth. Finally, I gave in. Despite my strict planning and the pressing deadlines urging me, the appeal of those ripe tomatoes proved too strong to resist. With a sense of liberation mixed with guilt, I abandoned my rigid schedule and ventured into the garden. The warmth of the sun, the earthy scent of the soil, and the vibrant colors of the tomatoes enveloped me, creating an atmosphere of tranquility that I had long forgotten in my busy routine. Slowly, I allowed myself to be immersed in the simple joy of picking tomatoes, feeling the firmness of each fruit as I plucked it from the vine. My parents were quite surprised when they came back a week later. They found not only a house that was well-maintained but also a noticeable change in me. Gone was the long stressed and schedule-bound individual they had known; in her presence stood someone who had learned to appreciate the beauty of spontaneity and the value of taking moments to savor life's simple pleasures. As I proudly presented them with jars of homemade tomato sauce, made from the very tomatoes that had altered my perspective, I realized that it's the unplanned moments that leave the most lasting impact and bring the greatest fulfillment to our lives.
