Dear Tom,
I’m thrilled to hear that your school is offering a course on traditional Chinese arts. It must be an excellent
opportunity for you to explore the rich cultural heritage of China.
As for the choice of what to learn, I would recommend Chinese calligraphy. Calligraphy is not only an art form
but also a profound expression of Chinese culture and philosophy. It involves the use of brush and ink to create characters
that are artistically pleasing and full of meaning. Besides, practicing calligraphy can help you understand the beauty of
Chinese language and the discipline required to master it. Moreover, calligraphy is a skill that can be practiced for a
lifetime, offering endless opportunities for improvement and personal expression.
I am looking forward to hearing about your experiences in this course and seeing your progress in calligraphy.
Best regards,
Li Hua
读后续写:
Afterwards, he faced Fred and demanded with a shout,“Rock! Pass me a rock!” Fred followed the
instructions without any delay. Henry repeatedly struck the window with the rock, yet achieved minimal results.
Henry then yelled at Madrigal to step aside from the window. He steadied himself on the truck, leaned back, and
hurled the rock at the window. Ultimately, the glass shattered, and Henry put his hands in through the remaining
pieces of glass. To their relief, Madrigal extended his hand towards Henry and was pulled to safety. The pair
made it back to a secure location.
Madrigal was about to express his gratitude when his phone started to ring. Trembling, Madrigal reached for his
phone and held it to his ear. His mother’s worried voice echoed through the line, “Have you arrived home? Is
everything alright?” The sound of her concern brought tears to Madrigal’s eyes. Madrigal struggled to speak as he
recounted the accident to his mother and tried to soothe her. After ending the call, he turned to Henry and Fred,
expressing his heartfelt gratitude to them both. Despite the cold rain, a profound warmth surged through his heart,
unlike anything he had ever felt before.听力原文:

Text 10
M:A fable is a story. A wise author often writes the fable to tell a lesson. Long ago, people wrote many fables. They
wrote them to help other people learn. For example, The Tortoise and the Hare is a fable. That fable tells people it is not
wise to show off. It is wise to work hard. Most fables have animals in them. The animals can talk. Of course in real life
animals can't talk. The animals often do foolish things. For example, in one fable there is a crow. It wants to get a piece of
delicious fruit. It takes it from a garden. And it gets it. But then as the crow soars, it shows off. It opens its mouth to shout,
“Look! I get the best fruit.” But of course the crow loses the fruit. It falls out of its mouth because it opens its mouth to
shout. Fables have a moral. A moral is the lesson it teaches. The fable about the crow makes an important point. It tells
you that people should be careful.
