M: Good morning, everyone. If you ask me which city I really want to visit, it’s Rome, the capital of Italy. It’s a
city that has always attracted me because of its culture. I’m particularly interested in its architecture since it has
examples from all major European styles of building. Besides, it was the capital of the Roman Empire, so it has
a wonderful collection of public buildings from that time.
What I think is great about Rome is that many of the beautiful and historic buildings are still in use, as galleries,
public offices and even houses. They are not all locked up as museums, so it’s really living history there. Even
though it’s an expensive city to stay in, I’d like to go there for at least a month, as there’s so much to see and do.
During my time there, I’d have to be careful that I didn’t spend too much on Roman food! Plus, I’d like to find a
cheap hotel. It would probably be in the centro storico, the old center of the city, probably within walking
distance of the River Tevere. Most visitors to Rome would agree that it is a very special place but for me, it’s
Europe’s most historic and romantic city.
