would often leave his bed at night unnoticed. Kenneth’s aunt struggled to keep track
of him. Once, the police found him walking beside a busy freeway. ⑱This incident
inspired Kenneth to find a solution. He invented a small device named
SafeWander. It’s a thin wireless sensor that sticks to the bottom of the foot. When
the person stands up, the sensor detects the pressure change and immediately sends
an alert to the caregiver’s smartphone. ⑲Kenneth’s aunt tested it on his
grandfather for eight months. It worked every single time—no more unnoticed

For this invention, Kenneth won a major science prize. Now, he’s still improving
