In Jingdezhen, there’s a street-food stall that has become the talk of the town. The stall is run by Li Junyong,
who sells delicious fried chicken cutlets. However, people flock to his stall not just for the tasty food. They come
because his stall operates under some really clever and unique rules. Everyone affectionately calls him “Chicken
Cutlet Bro”, and he has gained fame for his kind heart and smart business ideas.
The most notable rule is designed for students. Every afternoon at 4:30, Mr. Li stops serving other customers
and reserves that time exclusively for students from the nearby school. Why does he do this? He says he has made a
promise to the students to always have a warm snack ready for them when their classes end. He believes that the
students’ happiness is of great importance, so other patrons have to wait.
Mr. Li also aims to be highly efficient. To save time, he has a signature phrase that all his customers know
well. Politely, he always says, “Please open your plastic bag.” This simple request helps him pack the chicken
cutlets more quickly, so the hungry students don’t have to wait for too long. It’s a small rule, but it makes a
significant difference. And he even has an amusing rule regarding quality. If a chicken cutlet isn’t cooked to
perfection, he gives it to the customer for free. He wants every customer to get the best — tasting food from his
stall.
These special rules make buying chicken cutlets from Mr. Li a fun and pleasant experience. Customers feel
that they get more than just food; they also receive a smile and excellent service. His kind and clever rules have
turned his small stall into the most popular spot in the town.

B. Confidently.
C. Lovingly.
D. Curiously.
5. Which of the following statements about “Chicken Cutlet Bro” is right?

6. Why does Mr. Li save time for students every afternoon at 4:30?
A. To make more money.
B. To attract more customers.
C. To show off his efficiency.
D. To keep a promise to students.

Most people live with “just-me-ism”. For example, you might leave the tap running while brushing teeth, keep
a light on when going out, or drop litter without picking it up. You know these actions are wrong, yet you tell
yourself, “What difference does it make? The world has millions of people, and I’m just one. Does leaving a tap
running, a light on, or a piece of litter really matter? Besides, no one will know.” But imagine millions of people
having the same mindset: millions of gallons of water would be wasted, millions of lights left on, and millions of
litter pieces scattered. All this would cause great harm to our world.
To encourage young people to act for the environment, animals, and their communities, Roots& Shoots was
founded. Established in the early 1990s by Dr. Jane Goodall — a world-famous scientist and expert on wild
chimpanzees — this organization is more than just a group. Beyond her research, Dr. Goodall has devoted herself
fully to environmental protection. The core purpose of Roots & Shoots is to educate young people, ranging from
preschoolers to university students, equipping them to help build a secure future where humans live in peace with
nature.
The name “Roots & Shoots” carries deep meaning: roots grow slowly underground to form a solid foundation,
while shoots, though small and weak, can break through brick walls to reach sunlight. These roots and shoots
represent you, your friends, and young people worldwide. Countless such “roots and shoots” can solve global
problems, change the world, and turn it into a better place to live.
Now the choice is yours: Will you use your life to make the world better for people, animals, and the
environment? Will you help plant Roots & Shoots in everyone’s heart? Will you join the community for a shared
future? You cannot be absent.
8. Who would most probably be called a just-me-ist based on the text?
A. Lily who brings shopping bags while going to the supermarket.
B. Amy who chooses the easiest tasks and never helps her teammates.
C. Marshall who always argues and even has fights with his classmates.
D. Mike who throws plastic bottles in the forest without taking them away.
9. What is the primary goal of Roots & Shoots?
A. To advocate a ban on environmental protection.
B. To inspire young people to study chimpanzees.
C. To call on everyone to take care of those they love.
D. To encourage the youth to live in harmony with nature.
10. What can we learn from Roots & Shoots?
A. Early birds catch the worms.
B. Many hands make light work.
C. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
D. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
11. The organization is named “Roots & Shoots” because ________.
A. roots and shoots are small but powerful
B. roots and shoots are easy to find in nature
C. roots and shoots are Dr. Jane Goodall’s favorites
D. roots and shoots are the most important parts of plants

This year’s Wimbledon tennis tournament (锦标赛) brought the usual mix of sunshine and rain. One major
difference, however, was the absence of human line judges (裁判) for the first time in 147 years.
All 300 line judges were replaced by the Hawk-Eye electronic line-calling (ELC) system. It was powered by
high-speed cameras and supported by about 80 on-court assistants.
This change was promoted as a big step forward. However, it quickly raised heated debate. For example,
Russian player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova had to replay a point she had clearly won, because Hawk-Eye failed to
register that a ball had landed out.
The new system promised more accuracy, but that didn’t automatically make it feel fair. People don’t just want
the right decision; they want to know how it was made. When human judges made mistakes, they were visible and
could be argued. A machine’s mistake, however, is a confusing “black box” with no one to question, which leads to
frustration.
Meanwhile, sports are not just about accuracy. They are entertainment. They thrive on emotion and tradition.
For 147 years, line judges were part of Wimbledon’s identity. Their uniforms, gestures and even the drama of a
close call added to the atmosphere.
The problem at Wimbledon was not the technology itself but the way it was introduced. Hawk-Eye functioned
well, but the tournament — and especially the players and fans — were not prepared. The same pattern is
happening with AI and other new systems, such as customer service bots. These systems are often introduced too
quickly without enough testing. When they produce unfair or unpredictable results, there is often no clear way to
appeal (申诉) , and no one takes responsibility.
The key questions are: Who decides? Who benefits? Who is responsible when things go wrong? Without clear
answers, new technologies don’t solve problems — they create new ones. If we want technology to improve life,
we can’t just replace people with machines. We need to rethink and redesign the institutions these systems are
meant to serve, making use of the potential that new technology can offer.
12. What took the place of human line judges at this year’s Wimbledon?
A. 80 on-court assistants.
B. High-speed cameras alone.
C. The Hawk-Eye ELC system.
D. A specially-designed tennis ball.
13. What can we infer from Paragraph 4?
A. Human judges are easy to argue with.
B. People can’t question the machine’s errors.
C. The machine’s mistake is hidden in a black box.
D. The machine will automatically record its mistakes.
14. Why is “customer service bots” mentioned in Paragraph 6?
A. To express they are more reliable than the Hawk-Eye system.
B. To explain they have the same function as the Hawk-Eye system.
C. To prove new technologies will cause problems once they are used.
D. To show the improper introduction of new systems is a common issue.
15. Which of the following statements would the author probably agree with?
A. Sports are more than going after accuracy.
B. Technology should be banned from sports.
C. Problems caused by the machine are unavoidable.
D. Wimbledon’s human line judge tradition is outdated.
【答案】12 C 13. B 14. D 15. A

Fiber (纤维) is really good for our health. It helps control blood sugar levels, lower cholesterol (胆固醇) and
reduce inflammation (炎症). ____16____ Here’s some advice.
Take baby steps
If you don’t eat a lot of fiber, the key is to start slowly. That’s because high-fiber diets can make some people
have gas and bloating. The gas is a result of fiber being fermented (发酵) by the microbes in your gut. ____17____
Focus on getting fiber from different plant-based foods
Researchers say the best way to get fiber is from various plant-based foods. ____18____ Think about sweet
potatoes, avocados, pears and pumpkin seeds. These foods not only have a lot of fiber but also contain other
vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients that are good for our health.
Check the freezer section
Raspberries and blackberries are some of my favorite fiber sources—one cup of either has about 8 grams of
fiber. But they can be expensive. So I buy them both frozen and fresh. Frozen berries are usually cheaper, and last
much longer. ____19____
Notice how high-fiber foods affect you
When you eat more fiber, you might want to write down how different high-fiber foods affect you. Everyone is
different. Some people may be more sensitive to certain types of fiber than others. For example, I love chia seeds,
but if I eat more than 2 spoons in a day, my digestive system doesn’t feel good.
____20____
When you add more fiber to your diet, make sure to drink enough water too. Water can help fiber move
through your body and stop it from becoming hard, which can cause more gas and constipation.
A. Don’t forget to drink water
B. Too much water brings more harm than good
C. So, how can we add more fiber to our diets?
D. And bloating is really dangerous for your health.
E. I also like to have frozen artichokes and spinach ready.
F. That means eating different fruits and vegetables, whole grains, beans, seeds and nuts.
G. You should increase your fiber intake little by little so that your body has time to get used to it.

第二节(满分25 分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My wife and I planned a small early-summer gathering at our new home to share it with family and friends.
She prepared lots of snacks, while I tidied up the backyard—mowing the lawn, cleaning cobwebs, and wiping the
patio furniture. It was perfect for kids to run around, except for one surprise: my brother brought his lively Irish
Setter, Max.
Max was friendly but super energetic. Weighing in at just over fifty pounds, he could easily knock over my
niece’s small boys, let alone my six-month-old granddaughter. So when my brother arrived, I asked him to keep
Max outside in the backyard. I didn’t want the dog running inside and bumping into the little ones.
At first, things went well. Max ran around the backyard, leaving the kids space to play. But after dinner, the
weather turned bad—clouds rolled in, and a light drizzle started. Everyone came inside, and we had a problem:
what to do with Max? I didn’t want him indoors, but my brother hated the idea of driving home with a wet dog. It
was awkward. Finally, my brother left instead of arguing.
Later, I felt regretful. A few days passed, and I didn’t hear from my brother. I texted him to meet again, but his
reply shocked me: “Not a chance.” I thought he’d get over it, but weeks went by with no contact. My wife noticed
and told me to reach out, but I was stubborn.
Then I remembered: my brother had health issues, and his wife of 35 years had just passed away a few months
before. Max was his only companion. I realized I was wrong—cleaning up a mess would’ve been easy, and my
brother wouldn’t have left upset.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150 左右;2. 续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好。

【答案】I swallowed my pride, picked up a pizza and headed over to his house. When I arrived, Max greeted me
with wagging tail and wet kisses, as if nothing had happened. My brother stood in the doorway, his eyes tired but
softening when he saw the pizza box. “I’m sorry,” I said sincerely. “I should have been more understanding.” He
sighed, letting out months of unspoken pain. “You didn’t know how much Max means to me now,” he admitted
quietly. We sat down, sharing stories and memories over warm slices, while Max curled up at our feet. The tension
melted away, replaced by laughter and reconnection.
