第一部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50分)
第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A
BEIJING (News Agency) — Children in China today spend five times more money
than their parents did when they were young.
So what are all these children buying? The list is long: iPads, cell phones and jeans are
typical items that children “have to” buy. And they will do anything to get them. They ask their
parents over and over until they buy them.
But parents also need to take the blame(责备) for spending so much money. They want their
children to have the best things. They end up competing with other parents over whether their
children have the latest products.
So it’s no wonder children find it hard to learn the importance of saving money rather than
spending it all the time.
And it’s hard to save when companies use advertising (打广告)and clever slogans (口号) to
encourage young people to buy their products. They even encourage children to keep asking their
parents for something until they get it.
Today, you don’t even need to have money in order to buy something. Banks give out credit
cards and loans (贷款) all the time, so people are saving less and less. We are used to carrying
lots of money around. And if you don’t have much, you can always borrow some.
更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂But this hasn’t always been the case. When our grandparents were young, there was very
little money and everyone had to save hard for things they bought. They only bought things they
needed, not things they just wanted.
The older generation made the wise expression, “Money doesn’t grow on trees. ” This is as
true now as it was 50 years ago. They give money a great deal of value. And we all have a lot to
learn from them.
1. The text mainly tells us ______.
A. differences between teenagers and their parents
B. what is popular among children at the moment
C. how to spend money wisely
D. children’s high consumption(消费) of products
2. Parents are to blame for children’s spending a lot of money because ______.
A. they don’t give children positive guidance in consumption
B. they offer to buy the latest fashions for their children
C. they always give children too much pocket money
D. their consumption habits set a bad example to children
3. The saying “Money doesn’t grow on trees. ” in the last paragraph seems to tell us that _____.
A. the older generation understood how to teach children to save
B. in the past, people attached more importance to saving money
C. money has a great deal of value both in the past and at present
D. money is not easily earned and we should be careful when we spend it
B
When you set a foot outside of your door to drop litter, go to a social event or go for a walk,
thoughts like "I hope I don't see anyone I know" or " please don't talk to me" may run through
your mind. I've also said such things to myself. Sometimes the last thing you want to do is to talk
with someone, especially someone new.
Why do we go out of our ways to avoid people? Do we think meeting new people is a waste of
time? Or are we just lazy, thinking that meeting someone new really is a trouble?
Communication is the key to life. We have been told that many times. Take the past
更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂generations, like our parents, for example. They seem to take full advantage of that whole
"communication" idea because they grew up talking face to face while Generation Y grew up
staring at screens. We spend hours of our days sitting on Facebook. We send messages to our
friends and think about all of the things we want to say to certain people.
Nowadays, we are so caught up in our little circle of friends—our comfort zone. We love it that
they laugh at our jokes, understand our feelings and can read our minds. Most importantly, they
know when we want to be alone. They just get us.
Holding a conversation with someone new means agreeing with things that you don't actually
believe and being someone you think they want you to be—it is, as I said before, a trouble. It takes
so much energy, and at some point, it is too tiring.
But meeting new people is important. Life is too short, so meet all the people you can meet, and
make every effort to go out and laugh. Remember, every "hello" leads to a smile—and a smile is
worth a lot.
4.What do we learn about the author?
A. He likes to be alone.
B. He feels stressed out lately.
C. He's active in attending social events.
D. He's afraid of talking to others at times.
5.What's the problem of Generation Y in the author's eyes?
A. They rely on the Internet to socialize.
B. They are less confident about themselves.
C. They have difficulty in communicating.
D. They are unwilling to make new friends.
6.Why do many young people avoid meeting new people?
A. They think it is troublesome.
B. They are busy with their study.
C. They fear to disappoint their old friends.
D. They want to take time to do meaningful work.
7.Why does the author write the text?
更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂A. To tell about the importance of friends.
B. To give tips on how to meet new people.
C. To encourage people to meet new people.
D. To introduce the disadvantages of Generation Y.

The year 2020 is stormy, but rainbows are everywhere. Across the COVID-19 stricken
world, bright and happy rainbows have become window colors and choices on store shelves.
The rainbows started appearing all over Italy within a few days of schools closing for the first
lockdown, back in March. Crayon drawings were taped to the inside of windows; poster-painted
banners hung from balconies.
When the pandemic came to Britain, the rainbows came too, with the Italian message of
positivity morphing into thanks to the NHS. Then, during the months of lockdown, the rainbows
moved inside our homes, with a craze for arranging books by colour in pursuit of an aesthetically
(审美地) pleasant Zoom background.
In April this year, the largest cabin hospital in the Philippines was completed, divided into six
wards of different colors. The colors of the rainbow were not only pleasing to the eye, but also
conveying a positive and optimistic spirit to patients.
更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂The rainbow is to 2020 what "keep calm and carry on" was to 1939. And just as "keep calm and
carry on" began as a public information campaign but became a tea towel industry, what began as
a gesture of hope is now a big business. John Lewis reports that an £8 rainbow bauble is an early
festive bestseller. Tracksuit enthusiasts are sitting out the second lockdown in Olivia Rubinˈs
£150 rainbow stripe tracksuits.
Optimism is the hottest commodity of 2020. But some people are irritated by the way consumer
culture commodities the human experience, packaging our hopes and dreams as if they were just
another product in the warehouse (仓库). But the fashion editor-turned-designer JJ Martin says, "It
ˈs great to have the colourful dress, but the magic of a rainbow isnˈt really about the pot of gold.
What actually counts is the flame you turn on inside yourself."
12. Where might people see the rainbow?
A. In the study with the books sorted by color.
B. In the Italian message of thanks to the NHS.
C. On the banners of the schools under lockdown.
D. On the outside of Britainˈs largest cabin hospital.
13. What does the underlined word "irritated" in Paragraph 6 probably mean?
A. Embarrassed. B. Fascinated. C. Challenged. D. Angered.
14. What do the campaigns in 1939 and in 2020 have in common?
A. They came to the same end.
B. They helped people out of the lockdown.
C. They conveyed thanks to the medical staff.
D. They displayed a feature of the towel industry.
15. What can we infer from what JJ Martin said?
A. The relaxation of mind is equal to wealth.
B. The significance of the rainbow is to lift people up.
C. The tracksuits of Olivia Rubin are to be mass-produced.
D. The commercialization of feelings is somewhat reasonable.

第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要.
Cashless Society, Good or Evil?
Can we do without cash? Since 2015, digital payments in the UK have outnumbered th
ose
in cash, and we are invited by the great and the good to cheer this on. The fully cashless er
a will be magnificently convenient, they say, with goods delivered to the door; no fumb
ling for change
just tap and go. Some London branches of several chains don't accept cash any more. Busi
nesses and banks want to abolish cash because they have fears of the black market and tax avoidan
ce.Yet we should worry about the death of cash, because physical money possesses worth far
above its
face value.
Actual physical money, in the hand, teaches us its true value. With cash, what you s
ee is what you have.Exchanging it demands personal engagement and oils the wheels of a comm
unity. In a shop, the exchange of cash takes time: it involves eye meeting eye. By c
ontrast, a cashless society is a joyless one. A digital touch payment is done in a flash: n
o human interaction
necessary. Digital self-service is cold when you are staring silently at your electronic device.
Besides, cash is a great leveler(使人人平等的事). Every penny, pound and banknote s
its
the same in every hand, identical in value and appearance. Moreover, a pocketful of ch
ange is
like a gallery or a museum . The roses , ostrich feathers and lions on the coins reveal
the history that shaped the United Kingdom. It is really crazy to give up on cash.
We are told digital payment is a welcome liberation from the shackles ( 束 缚 )
of cash, but digital payments actually restrict the reach of money. It requires a combination
更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂of factors like Wi-Fi,battery power and phones. Worse still, the lack of cash means even the
most
fundamental aspects of etiquette ( 礼 仪 ) are under pressure . Tipping in restaurants is
changing
beyond recognition. In simpler times, any amount of cash, warmly generous or pointedly
small
could be left as a reward. In the digital age, any extra money transferred to the restaurant a
ccount may never reach the staff pocket.
