Time was running out, and Lilly knew she had to act fast. Without hesitation, Lilly dashed towards the woman, her heart pounding wildly against her chest.Despıte stumbling and falling twice, her determination remained firm. C Our bodies were designed for near constant activity and yet, most of us today have trouble finding time to exercise. This is really unfortunate, considering the fact that physical exercise has been shown time and time again to help treat depression, which a record number of people suffer from. According to the researchers from the University of Connecticut(UConn), you don't need hours at the gym to cheer up. Simply getting out of the chair and taking a walk around can reduce depression and give you a general state of well-being. “We hope this research helps people realize the important public health message that simply going from doing no physical activity to performing some physical activity can improve their subjective well-being,” says Gregory Panza, the study's lead author. “What is even better news for the physically inactive person is that they do not need to exercise a lot to see these improvements,” Panza continues.“Instead, our results show you will achieve the best result with light or moderate ( 强 度 适 中 ) physical activity.” This is particularly encouraging news as“light physical activity” is basically walking— simple, standard walking, the kind where you don't sweat or notice an increase in breathing or heart rate. And the standard“moderate physical activity” is walking a 15-20minute mile with a slight increase in breathing and heart rate —— while you are still able to hold a conversation —— as well as mild sweating. Still, the researchers note that all participants of the study had a generally positive sense of wellbeing and were generally physically active, so their answers should be explained with that in mind. In addition, the study only analyzed one point in time. A longitudinal study(纵向研究), which trackspeople over time, would offer a better look at the relationship between exercise and mood. 28. What does the underlined word“This” refer to in paragraph 1? A. Everyone is always so busy. B. ut body needs constant activity. C. Many people suffer from depression. D. It is hard for people to find time to exercise. 29. What can we learn from the research? A. Its results aren't what people for. B. Hard physical exercise is not recommended. C. Even a small amount of exercise should be valued. D. Physically active people benefit most from exercise. 30. What can be inferred from the last paragraph? A. Their research has limitations.B. Another study has found the opposite. C. Further study will be conducted soon. D. The research failed due to inadequate preparation. 31. Which of the following would be the best title for the text? A. Cheer yourself up B. Feeling down? Walk it off! C. Overcome your problems D. Be optimistic about your health D “Upcycling” is a term many readers recognize, and now it's used to describe food and what happens when cooks come up with creative ways to mix ingredients into a product that would otherwisego to waste. Food is one area of our lives that is in desperate need of an overhaul. Roughly one-third of food produced for human consumption goes to waste worldwide, costing the economy $940 billion a year. All that waste pumps out 70 billion tons of greenhouse gases annually, which amounts to approximately8% of global greenhouse gases emitted(排放) by human activities. Thus, reducing food waste is a powerful step one can take to fight climate change. So this is why it's worth knowing about the Upcycled Food Association(UFA), formed in 2019 by companies that“Upcycled” ingredients in their products and recognized“the power of cooperation in growing a successful food category and environmental movement”. Now the group has created a formal cencept of what upoxcled food is : Upeycled foods use ingredients that otherwise wouldn't have gone to human consumption, are produced using verifiable(可验证的) supply chains, and have a positive impact on the environment. Armed with this new concept, the UFA is now on track to create certification standards that will, most likely, result in a logo that food companies can display on packaging to show shoppers their purchase can help fight food waste. The UFA website contains a list of its over 70 member companies and here is how ingredients are upcycled. It is interesting. Repurposed Pod, for example, makes cacao juice from the pulp(果肉) left by the chocolate-making process. Avocado Tea Company makes tea from the leaves of the avocado tree, an often overlooked material. The list goes on. I think it's exciting that the food industry is expanding to include an upcycled category, and I'd happily choose: products off the supermarket shelf that announce their commitment to this movement. 32. What does the underlined word“overhaul” in paragraph 2 probably mean? A. Consistently stable promotion. B. Complete examination and improvement. C. Conservation and development. D. Immediate end of something. 33. What do we know about the UFA? A. It works to avoid food waste and protect the environment. B. It has original intention for people's mental health. C. It focuses on teaching people to use resources efficiently. D. It has now over one hundred members across the world. 34. What is the UFA trying to do now? A. To design a logo to promote upcycled food.】B. To develop technology for producing upcyciea rouu. C. To come up with a term to define upcycled food. D. To create standards of identifying upcycled food. 35. What is the author's attitude towards upcycled food? A. Doubtful B. Uncaring C. Supportive D.
