Today I feel honored to have this chance to deliver a speech about the most respected
scientist in my heart.
The scientist I admire most is Yuan Longping, who is known as “Father of Hybrid Rice”. For
over half a century, Professor Yuan dedicated his life to agricultural research. Through countless
experiments in rice fields under scorching sun, he successfully developed high-yield hybrid rice
varieties which benefited mankind.
His life teaches us that true success comes from persistent dedication. He showed us how one
person’s determination can nourish an entire nation.

When my mum came home, she saw the bag from the supermarket in the
kitchen. She looked at me with a curious expression and asked, "Where did these
vegetables come from?" l hesitated for a moment, feeling guilty about my secret trip
to the supermarket. Finally, l confessed, "Mom, l bought them because l didn't
want Dad to worry about the garden. l didn't realize the bugs had damaged the
vegetables." My mother smiled understandingly and said," It's okay, Christine.
Taking care of a garden is not an easy task, especially when you're doing it for the
first time." From that day on, l became more dedicated to tending the garden,
researching natural ways to control pests and seeking my father's guidance. Idecided to make another salad for my father using vegetables from our own garden.
I carefully made a salad and brought it to my father. As he took a bite, l couldn't
help but feel a mix of nervousness and anticipation. However. His eyes lit up with
delight, and a smile spread across his face. Seeing his happiness, l realized that my
efforts in the garden had truly paid off. After finishing his meal, l gathered my
courage and confessed to my father about the bugs and the damaged crops. To my
surprise, he didn't show any signs of disappointment or anger. Instead, he smiled
warmly and reassured me.
