I was in Philadelphia for a conference when I saw an ad in the hotel. A nearby theater was showing a
documentary about several local animal shelters that were helping to save abandoned dogs across the country. I
love animals, and I felt an urge to go to this fundraising event. However, none of my co-workers would go with me,
and I was worried about walking on the street alone at night.
I resigned myself to spending the evening in my hotel room, but as soon as I got back to my room I felt
restless and bored. The theater where the event was taking place was only about five blocks from the hotel, and the
area around the hotel didn’t seem particularly dangerous. So, I decided to brave it. I gathered up my wallet and
room key and set off.
It was already getting dark and the streets were nearly deserted. I managed to find the street the theater was
on, but when I turned the corner, I stopped in shock. In front of the theater were a group of bikers-very big,
tough-looking bikers. They blocked my only path and their appearance suggested they were part of an infamous
street gang (帮派).
I’ve known lots of motorcycle enthusiasts and most are nice people. However, in this case, I was a woman
all alone, in a strange neighborhood, at night. Warning bells began to sound in my head, and my heart was
pounding. Was I at the right theater? Had I misread the date of the event?
A sign outside the theater told me that I was in the right place on the right evening. Nevertheless, I wondered
if I should rush back to my hotel instead of walking through that crowd of bikers. I finally decided that I would be
safer inside the theater, where I could meet many animal rescue groups. Hopefully, the bikers would have gone
away by the time the film was over.

【满分范文】
I hurried into the theater, only to find there were even more bikers inside. They were chatting loudly and
seemed to fill every corner of the place. My heart sank even further. I quickly found an empty seat in the
back row, trying to make myself as inconspicuous as possible. I clutched my bag tightly, constantly glancing
around, praying that nothing bad would happen. Every now and then, I peeked at the bikers, wondering what
they were doing here. Were they going to cause trouble? The tension in the air was palpable, and I regretted
my decision to come alone.
When the film began, I realized that the bikers were not what I had feared. They had come to support
the fundraiser for the local animal shelters. As the documentary unfolded, showing the plight of the
abandoned dogs, I saw many of the bikers wiping away tears. They were as moved as I was by the
heartwarming and heartbreaking stories. During the intermission, some of them even came over to me,
smiling kindly and asking if I was enjoying the film. Their tough exteriors hid big, soft hearts. I felt ashamed
of my initial fear and was truly grateful that I had decided to come. We spent the rest of the evening sharing
our love for animals and discussing ways to help.

Anna Collins was a 34-year-oldwsingle mother. Her husband died while their twin sons were still babies.
When the twins turned one, Anna experienced yet another challenge: One of her sons, Adam, couldn’t walk due to
leg discrepancy (不一致). After consulting severe doctors, the best suggestion they could give was for Adam to
receive surgery.
To support the family, Anna worked two jobs. one as a waitress at a fast-food chain and the other as a pizza
delivery worker. However, the amount she was taking home wasn’t enough to cover Adam’s surgery.
One Friday afternoon. Anna decided to go to the grocer s to buy her twins’ food for the week. As she lined
up to pay, she noticed an old man in front of her looking confused. “Sorry. I can’t give you goods unless you have
enough money to pay!” explained the cashier patiently.
Anna felt awkward for the old man. Although she was having a hard time saving up for Adam’s treatment,
she decided to help. She paid for the old man’s groceries. “Do you know your way home?” she asked him. The man8 / 35 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!

My younger sister Lily is a picky eater — she sticks mostly to pasta and fruit—and can be hesitant to try
new things. She often says she’s afraid of unfamiliar experiences, but I think it’s just shyness.
Last year, Lily and I were preparing for our winter break trip together. I came up with a fun rule: we would
say yes to everything. I wanted to encourage her to be more adventurous, but I didn’t want to use the usual “You’ll
regret it if you don’t try it” line. So, I borrowed the idea of a “Yes Day” from a movie we had seen. We agreed that
for the entire trip, we would say yes to everything — whether it was food, activities, or new experiences.
We started saying yes before we even left our hometown. At the train station, we stopped at a food court, and
I decided to try a local snack that looked strange. Lily, who usually avoids anything unfamiliar, agreed to take a
small bite. Neither of us went back for more, but we both agreed that it wasn’t as bad as we had expected.
Later in the trip, we decided to try a yoga class at our hotel. Lily was skeptical at first, but she agreed to join.
It was our first time trying yoga, and we ended up laughing through the whole thing. It was awkward, but fun, and
neither of us had ever felt so relaxed and silly at the same time. We also took up a cooking class. Neither of us was
great in the kitchen, but we worked together and it ended up being delicious!
When we got back home, we learned that our school was holding a singing competition in the coming
semester. At first, I wasn’t sure if Lily would want to participate, especially since she had always been shy about
performing in front of a crowd. I really hoped that she could take up the challenge with me, knowing that she has a
beautiful voice.

I reminded her of our “Yes Day” rule from the trip. “Remember how much fun we had on vacation,
trying new things together?” I said. “This could be just another adventure!” After a few moments of silence,
Lily l ooked up at me and nodded slowly , with a smile on her face . “Okay,” she agreed. “I’ll do it with you.”
With her decision made, we immediately began to prepare for the competition. Every day after school, we
practiced together. We spent hours practicing our song, and I could tell that Lily was beginning to feel more
confident with each passing day. Slowly but surely, we became a team, united by our shared goal.
On the day of the talent show, we were nervous but ready. Standing backstage , our hearts raced , but I
squeezed Lily’s han d, encouraging her. As we walked onto the stage, I looked at her and felt a wave o f
confidence. Together, we sang, and Lily’s beautiful voice filled the room. It didn’t matter that we didn’t win;
the experience of trying something new together was unforgettable. We had pushed ourselves, worked as a
team, and, most importantly, had fun — just like we did during our vacation adventures.

Life was peaceful in the town of Willow Creek. But one chilly autumn morning, a new neighbor moved in
across the street. He was a college student. He had brought with him a beer-pong table, which was set on his front
lawn.
The beer-pong table was within full view of my kitchen window. It was a tool for the noisy, late-night parties
by college students. I knew that all too well from once living near a university.
Remembering the sleepless nights caused by the sound of bouncing balls and the noises, I felt a burst of
anger bubbling up like a storm. So I walked right up to the student’s house, and knocked on the door. I told him that
it had to go. Instead of apologizing, he returned my anger in kind. “Who the hell are you?” he asked. “And what
gives you the right to make such a ridiculous demand?”
His challenging gaze and aggressive tone added fuel to the flames of my anger. My sharp and cutting words
hung in the air. I could feel the heat of my anger, and a red veil clouded my face.
The next day, I felt ashamed. Why didn’t other women get angry like me? Why couldn’t I keep it altogether?
Why couldn’t I find some useful way to release the aggression?
I thought of the cookies I had made recently — big, peanut butter chocolate cookies. I had made them to
apologize to a friend. Some of the dough was still in the freezer. I hadn’t intended to save the cookie dough balls
for future apologies. But it was handy to have them sitting there, waiting to make things right. I decided to bake the
cookies and offer them to my neighbor as a peace gesture. As the cookies baked, the house was filled with a warm,
inviting smell. I placed the cookies on a plate, took a deep breath, and walked across the street.13 / 35 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!

When the sun was right above our heads, we departed for our destination. On our way, I served as the

It was the third week of December, but I couldn't even consider Christmas, because this year I didn't
knowhow to celebrate it. A month ago, our doctor informed that my two- year-old son suffered from celiac disease
(麸质过敏症). Any exposure to flour, milk, soy, or corn (even a single bite) would cause the little boy to be in a
miserable situation for the next week.
Having a child of food sensitivities, I felt awkward buying stuffs not causing allergic (过敏的) reactions for
the Christmas cookies. But it wasn’t the lack of cookies, parties or stuffing themselves that bothered me — it was
the lack of tradition, which, as a child, I looked forward to. What could I give to my children? What was Christmas
going to look like for our family?
I bought lots of stuffs including almond milk (牛奶替代品), allergen-free chocolate chips, potatoes and so
on. By the time I got back to my car after shopping, it had started snowing. First heavy snow of the season. These
magical holiday bits and pieces felt like they would just float by us this year, maybe forever. I cried my way home.
My three-and-a-half-year old daughter was shouting when I walked in the door. “Mama, look at the snow. It’
s snowing outside and everywhere!” Her excitement spilled over until we had her and her brother dressed warmly
and ready to play in snow on the ground. My husband took them out while I made dinner.
Watching them playing with rosy cheeks and runny noses through the kitchen window, I suddenly
remembered my creative mum who had recently made mashed (捣 碎 的 ) potatoes with almond milk, and I
remembered they tasted normal.

He was so busy dreaming about all the fish he would catch that he was unaware of everything else around him.
He rode along until a strange sound drew him to the present. He came to a stop and looked curiously up to

buzzing mass seemed to be heading angrily towards him.
With no time to waste, Andy sped off in the opposite direction, riding furiously, but without knowing how to
escape the swarm. With a rapidly beating heart and his legs pumping crazily, he sped down the rough road. As the
bees came closer, his panic increased. Andy knew that he was sensitive to bee stings. The last sting had landed him20 / 35 原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究!

Andy knew he wouldn’t make it to the house in time. The swarm was gaining on him, and he could feel their

Our family outing to the all-you-can-eat buffet turned into an evening to remember. The atmosphere was
lively and busy, with the noise of plates and the sound of conversations creating a warm and inviting setting. The
smell of freshly cooked food floated through the air, inviting everyone to try a little bit of everything. The buffet
was a feast for the senses, with steaming trays of dishes from all over the world. The kids were particularly thrilled
at the sight of the dessert section, which they had been eagerly longing for all week. Their eyes widening at the
array of cakes, ice creams, and pastries, they quickly made plans to sample everything.
As we sat down to enjoy our meals, chatting cheerfully about the various food options, my husband’s
attention was drawn to an elderly man standing by the chocolate milk dispenser (分 液 器 ). The man seemed
determined, but his hands were shaking, making it difficult for him to fill two glasses. My husband watched him for
a moment, a concerned look on his face. “Now, how on earth is he going to carry that milk back to his table?” he
wondered aloud, his eyes narrowing in thought. He noticed the man’s expression of concentration and effort, and a
wave of sympathy made him restless. The kids, absorbed in their plates, hadn’t noticed, but my husband couldn’t
look away.
I glanced at my husband and raised my eyebrows (眉毛) with a knowing smile. He immediately understood
my silent message. The next moment, without a word, he got up from his seat and approached the elderly
gentleman. I watched as he gently placed a hand on the man’s shoulder, offering a kind smile. I felt a warm wave of
pride and admiration for my husband. His kind-hearted nature always managed to shine through in moments like
these, making me realize how lucky I was to have him by my side.

Emma Fogarty, born with no skin on her left foot and right arm because of a rare genetic skin condition
epidermolysis bullosa (EB) known as butterfly skin, has spent much of her life overcoming physical challenges and
inspiring others with her firm determination. Her courage and positivity have earned her a circle of loyal friends,
including Farrell, who has been by her side through thick and thin.
When Farrell learned about a charity marathon in Dublin that aimed to raise funds and awareness for EB
research, he immediately thought of Emma. The idea of running the marathon together seemed like a perfect way to
support her fight and bring attention to her cause. At the thought of running the marathon while pushing Emma in
wheelchair, Farrell knew this wasn’t going to be an ordinary race; it was a mission fueled by friendship, love, and a
shared goal.
Thus, Colin Farrell and Emma Fogarty’s journey to the Dublin Marathon had been filled with determination
and challenges that tested their physical limits and mental resilience. As the marathon began, Farrell pushed Emma’
s wheelchair with his strength, feeling the weight of the journey but also the strength of their friendship. The crowd
lined the streets, cheering loudly and waving flags. The atmosphere was electric, filled with a sense of unity and
purpose. Kilometer by kilometer, Farrell pushed forward, passing landmarks, and with each step, Emma’ s courage
and resilience fueled him, reminding him that he was not just running for himself, but for Emma and the countless
others like her who battle EB every day.

her eyes filled with gratitude and determination . The crowd , inspired by their perseverance , waved flags an d
shouted words of support. Witnessing all of these, Farrell felt a surge of renewed energy. He pushed the
wheelchair with his remaining strength, determined to cross the finish line.
Finally, they approached the final stretch of the marathon course. The cheers from the crowd became a
chorus of encouragement. Seeing the finish line in sight , Farrell was overwhelmed with energy . Emma’s eye s
lit up , her hands grasping her wheelchair tightl y. Together, they surged forward, their hearts pounding wildly.
As they crossed the finish line, the crowd erupted into applause. Their efforts were recognized not just as a

achieved something truly extraordinary.

swimming pool, racing to the other side, Then the next four were up, but only three stood on the diving board.
“Where is Ren?” the gym teacher asked in concern.

Sadie, his teammate, patted him on the back gently. “You can do it! I will help you if you need it.” Ren
stared into Sadie’s eyes and he calmed down.

Sadie glared at the boy, “Why would you do that?” A minute passed by and Ren still wasn’t coming up.
Sadie jumped in and pulled him out of the water. She gave him CPR (心肺复苏), and it took a while until water
came out of his lungs. Then finally he spat out the water and sat up, feeling dizzy.
Ren looked over at Sadie, who breathed a sigh of relief. “Oh, thank goodness! Why didn’t you use your arms
