Sports Make Me Better
Among various sports, I’ve been sticking to running. Every weekday morning, I get
up early and run around the school playground for half an hour. On weekends, I usually
run in the nearby park for about 40 minutes.
Running has brought me two significant changes. Firstly, my physical health has
improved a lot. I used to catch colds easily, but now I’m much stronger. Secondly,
running has made me more disciplined and confident. Keeping a regular running routine
requires self-control, and every time I finish a run, I feel a sense of achievement.
Dear classmates, let’s make good use of our spare time and take an active part in
sports. It not only benefits our health but also helps us grow into better individuals.第二节 读后续写(满分15分)
With just one flower left, I said it should be given to the person who needed it most.Just then, my
nephew caught sight of an old woman in a wheelchair nearby. “I think she’s the very person for
the flower. She lives a hard life because of bad health. She needs smiles most,” said my nephew.
With these words, my nephew, followed by my niece, took the flower up to her. You can imagine
how happy the old woman looked! She smiled, and gave each of the kids a big kiss. We spread a
lot of smiles by giving out flowers, and received a lot of smiles in return. It turned out to be a
great day for us.
附:听力原文
1. 【原文】M: How about joining me for a cup of coffee?
W: I’d love to, but I’m so tired. I was up till 2: 00 this morning, writing a paper for my literature
class.
2. 【原文】W: When are you leaving tomorrow? You look so excited.
M: Just imagine! I’ll take the early flight at eight in the morning and see my parents in just two
hours.
3. 【原文】M: Hi, Linda. I didn’t see you at the dining hall. Didn’t you have breakfast?
W: Well, I woke up early this morning so that I could go for a long walk. I was the last person to
come out of the dining hall.
4. 【原文】W: What’s that building over there?
M: That’s the new art museum. It’s not particularly attractive from the outside, but it’s very nice
inside. Quite an unusual building, isn’t it?
W: I’m afraid I don’t think much of it. I’m not a big fan of modern architecture.
5. 【原文】M: Have you read the research report?
W: Yes, but it wasn’t well-written. I sent it back to the department with some suggestions.
M: Good. I couldn’t understand it either but I thought it was just me!
6. 【原文】W: Hi, Bob! How are you recently?
M: Olivia, is that you? We haven’t seen each other for ten years!
W: Exactly, since our graduation. Are you still taking pictures?
M: Yes. I’m working as a photographer now. What about you? I remember you did well in art
class. I guess you are a famous painter now.W: Actually, I design things on a computer. But I still like to paint at weekends.
8. 【原文】W: Do you know what time you will be back this evening, honey?
M: I’m not sure. It depends on what questions they are going to ask me.
W: Relax. Every one has its first time. Don’t get yourself too worried.
M: OK, I got it! But is there any better advice?
W: Have some bread and coffee. It will make you much better. And what time is your interview?
M: 2:30.
W: Don’t get there too early, or you’ll have to hang around.
M: OK. Thanks.
10. 【原文】M: Hello, Susan. You look so pretty with that handbag.
W: Thank you. It’s a present from my brother. He came here to attend my birthday party last
month.
M: Really? But I didn’t see him at the party.
W: He left early to catch the train back to Detroit.
M: What a pity! It’s a year since he went for his new job as a journalist.
W: By the way, have you finished your paper on engineering?
M: Not yet. There’s just one week left. And I don’t know what to write. Maybe I need to buy
Engineering Weekly. The magazine has a lot of useful information.
W: Why not read it in the library? It can save some money.
M: That’s a good idea! Thanks.
13. 【原文】W: Hey, Josh! Did you manage to get tickets for Glastonbury Concert with the
rising star, Jamie Rivers?
M: Hi, Lisa, I got two tickets! Would you like to go with me?
W: Yeah, fantastic! When does it start?
M: The concert starts at 8: 00 p. m. and it will last for 3 hours. What kind of music are they
playing?
W: Country music. Jamie has this unique style. You’ll love it!
M: I’m sure I will, although I’ve always liked classical music and pop music. By the way, how do
we get to the concert?
W: We can take a train from London Paddington to Castle Cary. What do you think?
M: How about taking a bus to Castle Cary? It’ll probably take longer, but it’ll be cheaper.
W: That’s true, Let me check. Yes, it’s less than half the price. OK, let’s meet at London VictoriaBus Station at 5:00 a m. next Saturday. There is a bus leaving at 5:30 a. m.
M: That’s really early, but no problem! It’s going to be a perfect night.
W: Great! See you on Saturday!
17.【原文】A few years ago my wife and I were living in New York. Our apartment was next to
Central Park, and every morning I went for a run before I went to work. A lot of people had told
me to be careful of thieves in the park, so I didn’t usually take anything with me. But one morning
my wife asked me to buy some bread on the way home, so I put $10 in my back pocket. While I
was running through the park, a young man knocked into me. He apologized and continued
running. I thought it was a bit strange, so I checked my pocket and found that the money was
missing. I immediately ran after the young man and took him by the arm. I started shouting and
demanding that he give me the $ 10. I’m not usually a hot-headed person but I was really angry.
This frightened him and he quickly put his hand in his pocket and gave me the money. Then he ran
away as fast as he could. I bought the bread and went home. As soon as I got there, I began to tell
my wife my story. “You won’t believe what happened to me!” I started. She immediately said, “I
know, you left the money for the bread on the kitchen table.”
