Last Friday witnessed a school charity sale in our school playground. Organized by the Student
Union it was available to all students, with the aim of cultivating students' good quality of caring for
others.
The sale kicked off at 5 PM, lasting for an hour, with well-prepared items of every class put on sale.
At each and every stall lay a wide range of books, school supplies, sports equipment, or whatever. Within
an hour all the items were sold out. It is said that the money raised for charity will be donated to the
disabled children in our city.
The activity greatly won our favor. Not only did this sale equip us with the organizational
capabilities, it also enhanced the awareness of all teachers and students to give love.

Then, he bought a small cage and kept Lucky in it. In the beginning, Lucky seemed fine inside it. He
believed he had made the right choice to keep Lucky close and secure. However, as time passed, things
took a turn for the worse. After a fully recovery, Lucky wanted to spread its wings and fly in the sky.
When all its attempts failed, what Lucky could do was sitting inside the little cage and squawking sadly.
Several days later, Lucky refused to eat and drink. Worried and confused, he didn’t know what to do
about it.
Knowing the bad situation, Albert’s parents decided to help Lucky and their son. They told their son,
“If you really love Lucky, you should think of how to make it happy.” After careful consideration, Albert
opened both his heart and the cage. Lucky was released and flew away. Two weeks later, a wonderful
thing happened: Lucky returned, flying around Albert and chirped happily, seeming to say thanks to him.
This had happened from time to time since then. Instead of losing a forced friend, Albert had made a
permanent one.

M: Lily, can you tell me the ending of the film that just came out?
W: Sure. In the end, the lost dog found its way home. It’s the same as in the book.

M: Lisa, do you want to go to the concert with us tonight?
W: I’d love to, but I can’t. I’m driving to the airport to pick up my cousin. She’s flying in from Paris, and
we’re having a family dinner tomorrow.

W: Excuse me, could you tell me when Flight AC35 arrives?
M: It should arrive at 5:00 p.m., but it will be 45 minutes late because of the weather.

M: Hi, Sarah. What do you do now?
W: I work at a middle school near the hospital. I teach math.
M: That’s great. You must enjoy it.

W: Hi, are you busy right now? Can you go with me to the pet shelter?
M: Sure! What for? Are we going to look after the animals?
W: No. I want to adopt a little dog. You know, tomorrow is my sister Lisa’s birthday. She has been
asking for a pet for a long time.
M: Oh, Lisa must be happy about that. Do you know which one she likes?
W: She went to the pet shelter with me yesterday. She showed me the one she liked.
M: That’s good. I bet Lisa will take good care of it.

W: What sports do you enjoy?
M: I like swimming and basketball, but my favourite is table tennis. How about you?
W: I really like volleyball. I’m going to try out for the school volleyball team.
M: I watched you play last week. You were excellent!
W: Thanks, but I still need to practice more.
M: I’m going to the sports centre now to play table tennis. Do you want to come? Maybe we can play
together.
W: Sure, let’s go!

W: Hi, Jack. You look a bit down. What’s wrong?
M: I want to get better at spoken English, but I’m too nervous to talk to others.
W: It’s okay! The most basic way is to practice speaking out loud. Besides, you can repeat lines from
English songs or short videos.
M: That’s a good idea. What else can I do?
W: You can also talk to yourself about small things — like what you eat for breakfast. Oh, and Alex is
good at English. He’s happy to chat with people.
M: Really? I’ll ask him to talk with me every day. Thank you mom!
W: You are welcome! Just take it easy.

M: Hi, Emma! I heard you just came back from Lijiang. How was your trip?
W: Oh, it was amazing! I walked around the ancient town, visited the Dongba Culture Museum, and even
joined the local people in a traditional dance at Sifang Street.
M: That sounds fun! What was the best part of the trip for you?
W: Meeting the Naxi locals — they were so friendly! They taught me to write simple Dongba characters
and shared their homemade tea with me.
M: Did you buy any gifts?
W: Of course! I got a small Dongba paper notebook and a beautiful scarf for myself, and my friend Tom
bought a traditional bronze bell with Dongba words on it.
M: Wow, those sound special. You must have had a great time.
W: Absolutely. Every moment there felt like a beautiful memory. I’d love to go back someday.

W: Hi, Peter. It’s Jenny here. Hope you’re doing well. Since you didn’t answer the phone, I’ll just leave a
message. Mark and I are having a housewarming party this Sunday afternoon. We really hope you can
come over and see our new apartment. We’ve finally finished decorating the living room — we painted
it light blue. It looks much cozier now! We’ll enjoy some snacks and drinks, and later we can play some
board games, chat about travel stories, and enjoy classic movies. It’ll be nice to hear about your trip to
Yunnan. I bet you took lots of pictures! Our address is 14 Green Street, but it’s easy to miss because the
building is behind a big tree and the street sign is small. Call me if you have trouble finding it. I can
guide you there. If you’re driving, there’s a parking lot next to the building. So you don’t have to worry
about parking your car. Also, let me know if you prefer any particular snacks. Mark and I can’t wait to
see you!
