Dear fellow students,
On behalf of the Students' Union, I am writing to call on everyone to
take part in our volunteering program, which will be held next
Saturday.
It’s acknowledged that an increasing number of people come to take
exercise in the park near our school after it was equipped with exercise
facilities recently, leading to littering everywhere. To beautify our
environment, we will organize volunteers to collect garbage in the park,
which surely will spread the awareness of environmental protection and
make a difference to our whole city.
Please sign up at the office of the Students' Union before next
Wednesday. Your participation will be highly appreciated.

Meg ran through the entire house only to find a note left by
mother saying that she took a vacation today and telling the girls to
look after themselves. Indeed, the girls were all pleased to have
something useful to do. Soon, the girls were engaged in doing
housework. Meg was responsible for cooking meals while Jo for
sweeping the floor, and Amy was occupied with tidying the rooms.
After a whole day of tiring work, the girls all felt a sense of
achievement seeing their clean and tidy house.
They couldn’t wait to share with their mother what they had done
today and how wonderful the day was. “Do you want another week of
the experiment?” asked Mrs March. All the girls replied determinedly
in a chorus of “no”. It finally dawned on them that their little burdens
seemed heavy but would grow lighter as they learned to carry them.
Work keeps people from boredom and mischief, is good for health and
spirits, and gives them a sense of power and independence. It is work
that makes the world better.
