Dear Chris,
How are you? I want to share a very interesting and meaningful experience with you.
Last Friday, I participated in a community - organized activity named "Welcoming the New Year by Writing Couplets".
When Iarrived at the activity site, I was immediately attracted by the festive atmosphere. There were long tables laid out
with writing brushes, inkstones, and sheets of paper waiting for us to create.
This activity not only allowed me to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture but also enhanced my sense of
community. People in the community got together, shared their feelings and expectations for the new year, and established closer
relationships.
I hopeyou can also experience some interesting cultural activities like this in yourlocal area.
Best wishes!
Yours,
Li Hua
Dear Chris,
I hope this email finds you well. Last Friday, l participated in a special event heldin my community, which was all about
writing couplets for the upcoming ChineseNew Year.
Theevent took place at our community center, where a local calligraphy master was invited to guide us. We learned the art
of writing couplets, which are traditional Chinese poems consisting of two lines that are hung on either sideof a door. It was
fascinating to see how each character was carefully crafted, and the master explained the deeper meanings behind the words and
their placement. I was able to create my own couplets with the help of the master andmy neighbors. It was a wonderful
experience to share this cultural activity with others, and I felt a strong sense of community and festive spirit.
Through this event, I not only improved my calligraphy skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for Chinese culture
and traditions. I hope you have the chance to experience something similar in your own community.
Best regards!
Yours,
Li Hua
Dear Chris,
Last Friday, I participated in the “Writing Spring Festival Couplets to Welcome the New Year” event organized by our
community.
The event was held at the community center, starting at 2p.m. and lasting until 6p.m. At the beginning of the event, a
calligraphy teacher invited by the community explained to us the history and cultural significance of spring festival couplets, as
well as how to write them. Then, we started to practice, with the calligraphy teacher guiding us. We wrote the couplets on red
paper with writing brushes and ink, and everyone was very serious about it. At the end of the event, we hung the couplets we had
written on the walls of the community center for everyone to admire.
Through this event, I not only learned how to write spring festival couplets, but also understood their cultural significance.
I realized that couplets are not just aform of decoration, but also a way to express blessings and hopes. In addition, I made somenew friends, and we shared the fun of writing couplets together. This event made me love Chinese traditional culture even more,
and I am looking forward to the arrival of the New Year.
Yours,
Li Hua
