M: I am robot Y560192. I was named this way so that my colleagues and Robo Shepherds could tell
me apart from the infinite network of working robots. And the truth is that the names of robots do not hold any
significant meaning because what matters the most is the work we do.
I work in a consumer finance company. I almost work day and night so that the customers’ credit applications
are handled as quickly as possible. Every 15 minutes, I check the system for new tasks. I would never process the
same application twice. I am always 100% focused, and never make mistakes. For example, I read data about the
customer’s income and loan repayment plan— that’s a lot of various numbers and people can easily make a mistake
when they copy them to a different file, which is why I am responsible for this job.
To learn how robots can help your business, read Digital Teammates’ automation examples. They show how
robots work and can benefit your company.

It’s a familiar feeling. Your friend has made the team for Saturday’s big game, and you take a certain pleasure
in telling him you can’t be there to watch him play. You smile, but that voice in you asks: why him and not you?
Envy (妒忌)is a fault that we like to keep secret. It raises its ugly head when we focus on what we want but
don’t possess now, or we may even wish for and take pleasure in someone losing it. Feelings of unfairness are part
of being human, but when you focus on them, you can never get out of your dark emotions. And that makes you feel bad.
So is there a solution? Is there anything you can do to stop the most ungenerous emotions?
Well, why not turn envy on its head, and make it the encouragement you need for self-improvement? The best
weapon against envy is not to compete where you can’t shine, but to do your absolute best where you can.
Start by making peace with yourself, and accept the gifts which make you unique. Make an agreement with
yourself to be the best you can be. Then find out exactly the circumstances and qualities in others that start your envy.
Is it someone’s singing voice, their excellent academic performance, or their new phone? Envy shows us the things
we’d like to have, so make a plan to earn what’s important to you.
And aim for real pleasure in the achievements and good fortune of others. Root for your friend when he scores
that goal. Then do something special, and make yourself wonderfully proud of you.
24. What does the author advise us to do with envy?
A. Ignore its existence. B. Share it with friends.
C. Turn it into self-improvement drive. D. Keep something of our own.
25. What’s the main idea of Para. 5?
A. The reasons why envy appears.
B. The tips for preventing envy.
C. The process of how envy forms.
D. The explanation of harm caused by envy.
26. What does the underlined phrase “Root for” probably mean?
A. Try on. B. Put on. C. Call on. D. Cheer on.
27. Which may be the most suitable title for the passage?
A. All We Have Is Now — Away From Others
B. Be A Voice Not An Echo — Be Yourself
C. The Best Is Yet To Come — Try Hard
D. Every Dog Has Its Day — No Envy
C 25. B 26. D 27. D

Well, why not turn envy on its head, and make it the encouragement you need for
self-improvement? The best weapon against envy is not to compete where you can’t shine, but to do your absolute
best where you can.(那么,为什么不彻底转变嫉妒的心态,把它变成你自我提升所需的动力呢?
Start by making peace with yourself, and accept the gifts which make you unique,
Make an agreement with yourself to be the best you can be. Then find out exactly the circumstances and qualities in
others that start your envy. Is it someone’s singing voice, their excellent academic performance, or their new phone?

And aim for real pleasure in the achievements and good fortune of others. Root
for your friend when he scores that goal.(要学会为他人的成就和好运由衷地感到快乐。
Well, why not turn envy on its head, and make it the
和最后一段中的“Then do something special, and make yourself wonderfully proud of you.(然

There’s a “culture of walking and texting” on the Utah Valley University campus, according to conversations
with students, but that’s not the main reason. Matt Bambrough, the creative director at UVU, came up with an idea
to paint a “texting lane (小路)” on a staircase leading up to the Wellness Center.
According to Bambrough, it’s first and foremost a design project — the texting lane was a tongue-in-cheek (戏
谑) reference to the college-wide epidemic (流行) of kids walking around with their faces buried in their
smartphones.
“Students are walking down the hall with smart phones. You’re almost bound to run into someone somewhere;
it’s something we’re dealing with in this day and age,” Bambrough said. “But preventing collisions (碰撞) isn’t the
reason we did it — we did it to arouse the students’ attention. It’s meant to be there for people to look at and enjoy.”
Still, when talking to Utah Valley students, it sounds like texting and walking can be quite the annoyance.
Robbie Poffenberger, an assistant news editor at the UVU Review, said that most collisions he witnesses aren’t

of the hallway or railings,” Poffenberger said, “I’m sure they’re fairly embarrassed.”
28. What do we learn about the “texting lane” from the text?
A. It is a special campus culture in Utah Valley University.
B. It is used to encourage the campus culture.
C. It is painted on a staircase leading to everywhere.
D. It is popular with students in universities.
29. What can we infer from Bambrough’s words?
A. Students are encouraged to interact with others.
B. We don’t have to face the problem in this age.
C. What they did is to prevent the collisions.
D. Students enjoy looking at each other.
30. How do students probably feel about texting and walking?
A. They are disappointed. B. They are annoyed.
C. They are puzzled. D. They are surprised.
31. What would most students run into from the text?
A. Students in the same direction, B. Teachers opposite to them.
C. Facilities on campus, D. Grass on campus.

wasn’t content to stay in the yard with the rest of the family. It wasn’t long before he found a hole in the fence big
enough to climb through. And off he went. And he was actually glad, because he was the littlest of the family and
there wasn’t another of Mrs. Pig’s children that could squeeze (挤出) through the opening.

like dark balls, claws scraping restlessly. Grunty froze, legs shaking uncontrollably.
Farmer Green fired with a shotgun(猎枪) towards the sky while rushing towards the bear. The loud blast
startled the bear, making it snort in fear. It glanced at the farmer’s angry face and the trembling pig, then decided

gently lifted Grunty, sighing, “Silly guy, why ignore warnings?” Tears streaming, Grunty vowed never to sneak out
alone again.
