My name is Li Hua. The first month of high school has been a rollercoaster ride for
me. I was shy and worried that I wouldn't make any friends. However, during the
English class, our teacher asked us to do a pair work activity. I was paired with a
boy named Wang Lei. At first, we were both a bit awkward, but as we discussed the
task, we found we both loved reading science fiction and playing badminton. We quickly
became friends.
Last weekend, I joined the school's Volunteer Club with Wang Lei. We visited an old
people's home. Although I was nervous at first, seeing the smiles on the grandparents'

Artificial intelligence (AI) is no longer a concept of science fiction; it is
rapidly changing our daily lives. From voice assistants like Siri and Alexa to
recommendation systems on Netflix and Taobao, AI is here to make our lives more
convenient. However, like any powerful tool, it comes with its own set of challenges.
One major benefit of AI is its efficiency. It can process vast amounts of data
much faster than any human, leading to breakthroughs in fields like medical research
and climate forecasting. In our homes, smart devices powered by AI can control
lighting, temperature, and security, saving us time and energy.
Yet, the rise of AI also raises important questions. Will AI take away jobs? While
it's true that some repetitive jobs may be automated, AI is also creating new roles
that require skills in managing and working alongside intelligent systems. Another
concern is data privacy. As AI systems learn from our data, who has access to this
information, and how is it being used?
The key is not to fear AI but to understand and guide its development. By focusing
on education and creating clear rules, we can ensure that AI serves humanity
positively.
24. How does the author introduce AI in the first paragraph?
A. By comparing it with science fiction.
B. By listing its various applications.
C. By discussing its technical problems.
D. By describing its complex development process.
25. What is a positive effect of AI mentioned in the text?
A. It guarantees everyone's job security.
B. It processes data quickly and accurately.
C. It has solved the problem of climate change.
D. It makes all home devices free of charge.
26. What is the main concern associated with AI discussed in the passage?

D. Its slow learning speed in new environments.
27. What is the author's overall attitude towards the development of AI?
A. Fearful and opposed.
B. Doubtful and cautious.
C. Objective and hopeful.
D. Indifferent and neutral.

In recent years, an increasing number of young people in China are choosing the
path of entrepreneurship. Driven by passion, innovation, and a desire for
independence, they are starting their own businesses fresh out of university or even
before graduation.
Li Ming, a 22-year-old graduate from Hunan University, is one such example.
Instead of applying for a traditional job, he launched a startup that develops eco-
friendly packaging solutions. "I saw the problem of plastic pollution and wanted to be
part of the solution," Li said. His company now works with several local restaurants
and e-commerce shops, providing them with biodegradable materials.
However, the journey is not smooth. Young entrepreneurs often face challenges such
as a lack of experience, limited funding, and intense market competition. To support
them, the government and various organizations have launched startup incubators (孵化
器) and funding programs. These initiatives offer mentoring, office space, and
sometimes financial aid to help young ideas grow into successful enterprises.
Despite the difficulties, the spirit of youth entrepreneurship is vital for
economic growth. It encourages innovation, creates job opportunities, and brings fresh
ideas to the market.
28. What is the main reason for Li Ming to start his business?
A. To follow his university's advice.
B. To address an environmental issue.
C. To make more money than his peers.
D. To escape the competitive job market.
29. What does the underlined word "biodegradable" in paragraph 2 most probably mean?
A. Expensive and luxurious.
B. Able to decay naturally.
C. Strong and durable.
D. Made from recycled plastic.
30. What support is available for young entrepreneurs according to the passage?
A. Free university education.
B. Government-backed incubators and funding.
C. Guaranteed loans from banks.
D. Tax exemptions for all new companies.
31. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. University education is unnecessary for success.
B. Young entrepreneurs face no challenges in China.
C. Youth entrepreneurship is beneficial despite obstacles.
D. Traditional jobs are better than starting a business.
D
The Mid-Autumn Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, is
one of the most important traditional holidays in China. It is a time for family
reunions, much like Thanksgiving in the West. The festival's core themes are unity,
harmony, and giving thanks for the harvest.
The most iconic symbol of the festival is the mooncake, a rich, round pastry
typically filled with sweet bean paste or lotus seed paste and salted egg yolks. The
round shape symbolizes completeness and family reunion. Under the bright full moon,
families gather to enjoy mooncakes, admire the moon, and share stories.
However, traditions are evolving. While the essence of family remains central, new
customs are emerging. For instance, with many young people working far from home,
virtual family gatherings via video call have become common. Eco-friendly and health-
conscious mooncakes with less sugar and innovative fillings are also gaining
popularity.
Despite these modern twists, the spirit of the Mid-Autumn Festival remains
unchanged. It continues to be a powerful cultural force that strengthens family bonds
and connects Chinese people worldwide to their heritage.
32. What is the primary purpose of the Mid-Autumn Festival?
A. To celebrate the beginning of autumn.
B. To encourage the eating of mooncakes.
C. To honor the ancient Chinese poets.
D. To promote family gathering and harmony.
33. Why is the mooncake round in shape?
A. Because it is easy to make and carry.
B. Because it represents the full moon and completeness.
C. Because it is a tradition from Western countries.
D. Because it cooks evenly in the oven.
34. What is a modern change in the celebration of the festival?
A. The festival is no longer considered important.
B. Families have stopped eating mooncakes.
C. Virtual reunions are used to connect distant family members.
D. People only celebrate it with their friends instead of family.
35. What can be inferred from the passage about traditional festivals?
A. Their forms may change, but their core values can remain.
B. They are becoming less popular among young people.
C. They are resisted by modern society.
D. Their customs never change over time.

Building Healthy Self-Esteem in Teenagers
The teenage years are a critical period for developing self-esteem, which is how
much a person values and believes in themselves. High self-esteem helps teenagers make
positive choices, build strong relationships, and cope with challenges. 36
    Here are
some practical ways to help.
Set Realistic Goals. Encourage teenagers to set achievable goals. Success in small
things, like improving a grade or mastering a new skill, can significantly boost their
confidence. 37
Instead, help them see it as a learning opportunity.
Focus on Effort, Not Just Outcome. Praise the hard work and dedication a teenager
puts into a task, not just the final result. This teaches them that their value isn't
solely based on success or failure. 38___
Develop a Healthy Body Image. In the age of social media, teenagers are often
exposed to unrealistic beauty standards. 39
Encourage them to appreciate what their
bodies can do, like playing a sport or creating art, rather than just how they look.
Limit Social Media Comparison. Remind them that social media is a highlight reel,
not real life.
  40
Encourage offline activities and hobbies that bring them joy and a
sense of accomplishment.
Building self-esteem is a journey, not a destination. With consistent support and
guidance, teenagers can develop a strong and positive sense of self that will serve
them well throughout their lives.
A. It's about the process, not just the prize.
B. Parents should strictly control their teenagers' online time.
C. Low self-esteem, however, can lead to poor academic performance and social anxiety.
D. If they fail to reach a goal, don't let them feel ashamed.
E. Comparing themselves to these curated images can be harmful.
F. Therefore, it is crucial to talk about health over appearance.
G. Teenagers should avoid all forms of physical exercise to prevent injury.

The rapid advancement of technology, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI)
and robotics, is reshaping our world at an unprecedented pace. As a high school
student, I often find myself 4 1
about the future. What will the job market look like?
How will AI
  4 2

 my career choices?
My teacher, Mr. Li, once told us, "Instead of fearing change, we should
  4 3
    it.
The future won't be about humans versus machines; it will be about humans

machines." His words left a deep impression on me. I realized that the key to
  4 5

in this new era is not to compete with AI but to focus on what makes us uniquely
human: creativity, critical thinking, and emotional intelligence.
With this
  4 6

in mind, I started to adjust my approach to learning. I didn't
just

memorizing facts for exams. I actively participated in debate clubs to
sharpen my

thinking and joined a robotics team to learn how to

 with
intelligent systems. There, I learned that coding is not just a technical skill; it's
a language that allows us to

our ideas and solve complex problems.
However, the path isn't always smooth. I sometimes feel
  5 1

 when a computer
program I write fails repeatedly. But each failure teaches me perseverance and the
importance of
  5 2

a problem from different angles. These "human" qualities—

Looking ahead, I feel more excited than anxious. I plan to study computer science
with a minor in design, aiming to create technology that is both powerful and user-
friendly. The future is a canvas, and we are the artists. By embracing lifelong

书面表达
Dear Chris,
How are you? Thanks for your email. I'm excited to share my new life in senior high
school with you
My school is much bigger than my junior high, with a beautiful library and modern
labs. My teachers are knowledgeable and very friendly. My English teacher, Ms. Li,
always encourages us to express our opinions in class, which I really appreciate.
I’ve made some wonderful friends. One of them is Lin Tao, who I met during the
basketball club tryouts. We both love sports and often practice together after school.
I also joined the English Debate Club, which helps me improve my speaking skills.
Of course, there have been challenges. At first, I found it hard to manage so much
homework. But now, I’ve learned to make a study plan and focus on one task at a time,
which helps a lot.
I’m looking forward to learning more and joining more activities in the coming years.
I believe high school will be an unforgettable journey.
Best wishes,
Li Hua
