简要解析如下：

1. so far — “so far”意为“到目前为止”，但原句“After having gone ___ far”应为 so（go so far 走得这么远）。so 

2. so much ... as — 固定结构 not so much A as B（与其说是A不如说是B）。so 

3. while（一些学生在踢球，而另一些在跑步，表对比）。while 

4. it — think it right to do…，it 作形式宾语。it 

5. Although / Though（尽管 Tom 总以为能抓住 Jerry，却从未成功）。Though 

6. Unless（除非把冰淇淋放冰箱，否则会融化）。Unless 

7. is given; will get — if 引导条件状语从句，用一般现在时表将来，主句将来时。is given, will get 

8. that — 先行词被 the only one 修饰，关系代词用 that。that 

9. from — save ... from ...（使……免受……）。from 

10. to stay awake（force oneself to do；不睡 = stay awake）。填 to stay awake（原答案仅 awake 不完整，需带 to stay）。to stay awake
