Do you want to have a nice barbecue with your family? Which delicious food are you carrying? Maybe some
enthusiastic ladies will tell you that classic potato salad would be a genuine choice.
Potato salad in summer, made with new potatoes, is a favourite dish among most people in Scandinavia. Many people
like new potatoes and eat them usually during the different seasons. If they are newly dug, we don't need anything with
them other than some salted butter-a delicious meal, but here we will use them in a more complex way. There is a traditional
Danish recipe for warm potato salad just with cooked onions and vinegar, which is quite sweet and elegant, and this is the
modern version of chefs.
Some important ingredients and quantity:
600g/1lb 5oz new potatoes
2 sweetcorn cobs
1 small red onion
3 Thsp white wine vinegar
50g/1 3/4oz mustard(芥末)leaves and basil(罗勒)leaves
2 Tbsp mayonnaise(蛋黄酱)
2 Tbsp crème fraîche
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together, with salt and pepper to taste, and set aside.
Wash the potatoes and slice them off. Cook in boiling, salted water for 5-8 minutes or until soft but still holding their
fundamental shape.
While the potatoes are boiling, we could slice off the sweetcorn cobs carefully by cutting down each side of them.
Thinly slice the onion into rings. Put the corn kernels in a pan with the onion slices and vinegar and boil for 2-3 minutes.
Dry the potatoes. While they're still warm, mix with the red onion and corn kernels, then mix in the dressing. Finally,
mix in the mustard and basil leaves. Serve right away while they are still warm.
21. Which is TRUE about the traditional Danish potato salad recipe?
A. Only contains cooked onions and vinegar.
B. Must cook the sweetcorn cobs for 10 minutes.
C. Requires 2 Tbsp mayonnaise and 2 Tbsp crème fraîche.
D. Includes new potatoes, sweetcorn cobs and mustard sauce.
22. What can we learn from the directions?
A. We needn't cut down each side of the cobs.
B. The process of making potato salad is complex.
C. When potatoes are cold, mix with other ingredients.
D. We can ignore the potatoes' fundamental shape while cooking.
23. What can be inferred according to the passage?
A. The “dressing” needs to be bought from a store.
B. White wine vinegar is only used to cook corn and onions.
C. It is not recommended to make the salad ahead of schedule.
D. Mustard leaves should be added while the potatoes are boiling.B
There's a very real concern that robots could eventually make some of our jobs no longer needed, but at a robot-only
sports competition in China recently, the immediate concern was that they would fall over or crash into each other.
The Humanoid Robot Games, a three-day event in Beijing, featured more than 280 teams from universities and private
companies in 16 countries. Some robots did well in moving through difficult courses and uneven ground. In other cases, the
robots' athletic ability left something to be desired.
During soccer matches, child-size ones tripped over each other, falling down one after another. One goalkeeper robot
stood calmly as its opponent kicked a ball at its legs several times before finally managing to score. Meanwhile, one robot
by China's Unitree Robotics ran into a human staff member while running fast during a track event, knocking him down.
Switching to kickboxing matches, robots wearing colorful gloves and head protection struggled to land hits. "To be honest,
the hit rate is a little low," a commentator said in the event's official live-stream. “They're hitting the air." After a few
minutes of wild arm and leg movements, one robot was declared the winner. It raised its gloved hands in the air to the sound
of the audience applauding, while its opponent lay down in an apparent show of defeat.
The event has caused reflections and voices from different fields. Ken Goldberg, a robotics professor at the University
of California, Berkeley, said, “Despite the funny falls, significant progress in robot movement and balance is being
achieved.” Some business people believe that human-like robots will one day do many physical tasks now handled by
people, including housework and factory labor, yet for now, even simple tasks like loading the dishwasher are anything but
simple for them.
Alan Fern, a robotics professor at Oregon State University, added that the Humanoid Robot Games helped to "give the
public a realistic impression of where things really are."
24. How does the author introduce the topic in paragraph 1?
A. By quoting experts. B. By giving examples.
C. By analyzing causes. D. By making comparisons.
25. What can we infer about the robot soccer match?
A. Goals were scored easily. B. Matches were full of errors.
C. Goalkeepers performed well. D. Attacking robots played skillfully.
26. What does paragraph 4 focus on?
A. Future robot work prospects. B. Diverse perspectives on robots.
C. Robot competition outcomes. D. Advancements in robot movement.
27. What might Alan Fern agree with?
A. Robots are useless now. B. The Games mislead the public.
C. The Games reflect robot reality. D. Robots will never replace humans.

editor of the company's account remained silent in smile while simply browsing(翻阅)through the trending topic. "Other
Weibo accounts of different home appliances such as refrigerator related to the company also confirmed that the employees
of the company "really do not work overtime."

BECK'S, a well-known German brewery(啤酒厂),celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2023,bringing in a new
brewmaster: ChatGPT, an artificial-intelligence(AI) chatbot. This led to the creation of “Beck's Autonomous”, a totally
machine-made beer. One Daily Mail reporter considered it better than the brewery's standard lager.
Beer and AI may seem an unlikely pairing, but Beck's is far from the only brand using AI for beers. Atwater Brewery,
an American firm, introduced an AI-designed India pale ale(IPA) in 2023. In March Coedo Brewery in Japan used AI to
analyse the preferences of people in their 20s to 50s, and then developed four craft beers, one for each age range. According
to brewers, most customers have responded positively.
Someone says, “It gives us access to new recipes that we didn't think about before." Machine-learning tools can
analyse the small details of complex flavors, assess an individual brewery's available ingredients and equipment, and then
make new recipes while adjusting sweetness, hop level and other features to ensure the end product appeals to picky
customers.Beau Warren, the boss of the Species X Beer Project brewery, knows this firsthand. From 2022 to 2024, he learnt to
guide the brewing process with AI and finally created a new lager with a recipe never thought of, which won strong
approval from customers. It's a pity that the AI beers at Species X are no more: the brewery closed down last autumn owing
to financial difficulties.
Scientists are also intrigued about what robots might tell them about the chemistry of beer. In 2024researchers
analysed the chemical makeup of 250 Belgian beers. They then trained machine-learning algorithms(计算程序)to model
the effects of adding or removing different aroma compounds(香气化合物)on the taste. "The models we develop help
us understand the complex relationship between the chemistry of a beer, its taste, and how consumers will like it," says
Kevin Verstrepen, who led the research team.
Of course, it will take more than a chatbot to replace a human brewer. Ingredients must be poured, brew kettles must
be tended and the beers must be tasted-whether they were made totally by human hands, or brewed, at least in part, by
robots.“AI will become more and more part of the brewing process, but the brewing itself, the craft, is still the emphasis,"
says a professional. “It will be difficult to have machines make our beers.”
32. What is the function of the first paragraph?
A. To talk about Beck's Autonomous beer's sales. B. To explain all of Beck's 150th anniversary activities.
C. To bring up the topic of AI used in beer brewing. D. To prove ChatGPT is better than human brewmasters.
33. According to the passage, what is the benefit of AI application in beer brewing?
A. It can greatly reduce labor costs.
B. It can simplify the production process.
C. It can produce ingredients brewers have never seen.
D. It can develop recipes brewers might not have thought of.
34. What does the underlined word "intrigued" in paragraph 5 probably mean?
A. adorable. B. curious. C. delighted. D. relieved
35. Which of the following best summarizes the passage?
A. Different beer brands around the world are competing to use AI.
B. Scientists have uncovered the mystery of beer's taste through AI.
C. Many famous beer brands now use AI to polish their beer recipes.
D.AI is applied in beer brewing but can't replace human craftsmanship.

第二节 续写(满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Amellia received her end-of-year exam results-another failure in mathematics. Staring at the numbers and symbols,
which were difficult to understand, in the test paper, she had to fight back her tears. She put the test paper aside and lay on
the sofa, saying to herself, “I can never do this," in disappointment.
Having seen all this, Amellia's father came, sitting beside her, “You can, if you think you can,” he said. His voice
carried the firm message it always did when repeating his life's mantra(口头禅).
“That's easy for you to say," Amellia groaned (嘟囔),“Math makes no sense to me.”
Her father sighed, removing his glasses. "When I was thirteen, I was asked to stand before the class to read aloud. I
couldn't. The words swam on the page. Dyslexia(阅读困难症). No one understood it then. But my father told me those
same words——'You can, if you think you can' and eventually, I proved him right.”
Amellia wiped her nose, her father's mantra sounding meaningless to her. Anyway, her problem was not dyslexia; it
was math!
Months passed with little progress. Treating her efforts as useless, Amellia even gave up her struggle.
Each of Mr. Thompson's math classes felt like approaching a battlefield unarmed. Unsurprisingly, she got another D for
math in the October exam and she almost gave herself up as hopeless.
That evening, Dad seated Amellia at the kitchen table and placed a cup of tea before her. “I'm poor at math," she
sighed to the steaming liquid. “You are poor at math,” he agreed, surprising her. “But one day you'll say you were poor at
math." He patted her shoulder. "The question is-do you want that day to come?”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Something in Dad's tone inspired Amellia. On exam day, Amellia's hands shook as she entered the hall to take the math exam.
