第二部分 阅读 (共两节,满分50分)
第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项
涂黑。
AThe mint chocolate mousse (薄荷巧克力慕斯) is a combination of rich chocolate and refreshing mint,
creating a dessert that’s as luxurious as it is light. Every spoonful carries a delicate flavor.
Instructions
● STEP 1: Infuse (浸泡) a mint tea bag in boiling water, and let it cool to a point where it’s
warm to the touch but not too hot. This step infuses the water with a refreshing mint flavor,
setting the foundation for the mousse.
● STEP 2: Combine 100g of dark chocolate with the mint water, and gently warm it over low
heat. Stir until the chocolate melts, and remove it from the heat to prevent overheating. Add the
remaining chocolate to the still-warm mixture. This technique brings the chocolate to a proper
temperature to lift up its silkiness and avoid any graininess.
● STEP 3: Once the mint chocolate cools to the room temperature, it’s time to add the egg
whites and salt. Use an electric mixer to beat the mixture into a light, airy texture (质地) that
forms soft peaks which slowly fold back into the mixture.
● STEP 4: Carefully pour the mousse into dessert cups, and then leave them to cool in the
refrigerator. This resting period, lasting from four to six hours or even overnight, allows the mousse
to set properly, developing its flavors and achieving the perfect mouthfeel.
When ready to serve, decorate each mousse with fresh mint leaves and toasted, roughly cut
nuts. These toppings not only add a pop of color and texture but also enhance the mousse’s minty
flavor profile.
21. How many mint leaves are needed for three servings of the desert?
A. 4. B. 8. C. 12. D. 16.
22. What is the key to mixing chocolate with the mint water?
A. Timing the process. B. Using boiling water.
C. Weighing chocolate. D. Controlling the heat.
23. Which step is likely to take the most time?
A. STEP 1. B. STEP 2. C. STEP 3. D. STEP 4.
BCapybaras are on a roll . These adorable animals have taken over social media—showing up in
countless GIFs and even inspiring a hit song—likely because many of us long to be as chill (悠闲
自在的) as they are.
Capybaras were once thought to only live in South America, but they’ve been spotted as far
north as Florida. How the species arrived in the Sunshine State is a bit of a mystery, but locals
don’t seem to be complaining. What’s more, people in Florida now have special capybara-petting
chances, thanks to a new cafe centered around animals.
According to the Associated Press, downtown St. Augustine, Florida, has been home to The
Capybara Cafe since October 2024. People come to the cafe to pet the capybaras and feed them
corns. Some capybaras are also more than delighted to climb into people’s laps for a rest.
Hundreds of guests have been visiting The Capybara Cafe since it opened, with appointments
to meet the animals booking up months in advance. Tickets there start at $49 for 30 minutes with
the capybaras and go up to $99 for 60 minutes. Better still, capybaras aren’t the only animals
people get to pet there. Other cafe “staff” include skunks, armadillos, and a wallaby who’s also
known to get along well with human strangers. However, the cafe’s name could set some up for
the wrong idea. The name Capybara Cafe implies that there will be tasty snacks and drinks with
distinctive flavors for customers, but the business only sells capybara-themed shirts, water bottles,
and toys, with all snacks reserved for the furry “staff” there.
The owners founded the cafe to raise community awareness of wildlife preservation in engaging
ways and to support a nonprofit animal shelter, and they also wanted to open another location soon
in St. Petersburg, Florida.
24. What does the underlined sentence “Capybaras are on a roll.” in paragraph 1 mean?
A. Capybaras prefer human touches. B. Capybaras enjoy great popularity.
C. Capybaras increase in population. D. Capybaras can roll themselves over.
25. What draws locals to the cafe?
A. The contact with animals. B. The flavorful coffee drinks.
C. The snacks served for pets. D. The dreamlike atmosphere.
26. Why is the cafe’s name misleading?
A. It houses pets except capybaras. B. It hires the capybaras as waiters.
C. It lacks services of regular cafes. D. It operates as a nonprofit shelter.
27. What do the owners intend to do?
A. Boost sales of farm produce. B. Advocate for animal welfare.
C. Establish habitats for capybaras. D. Benefit from community events.C
How are we going to feed the more than 9 billion people that will live on Earth by 2050?
This is a major question for farmers and food scientists. Linked to this problem of producing
enough food is having enough land, water, and other natural resources to make that happen. The
final solution will surely consist of diverse approaches working together—aquaponics may be one.
Aquaponics combines hydroponics with aquaculture. Hydroponics refers to the science of
growing plants without soil in nutrient-rich water. Normally, in a hydroponics system, the nutrients
are tailored to meet the growth requirements of the plants. And aquaculture involves the production
of fish under controlled conditions, typically intended for human consumption.
In an aquaponics system, the fish provide nutrients in the form of their waste, which contains
a range of nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Bacteria (细菌) living in the fish tank
turn the waste into nutrients which the plants can absorb. Containing varieties of nutrients, the water
in the tank is continuously pumped into a grow bed where the plants are located. The plants absorb
the nutrients from the water, and bacteria in the grow bed clean the water by transforming the left
waste into nutrients, which the plants can later use for growth. The clean water is then sent back
into the fish tank. The grow bed and plants act as a biofilter (生物过滤器), cleaning the water so
that the whole system remain healthy.
Aquaponics is efficient, producing both fish with high protein content and vegetables with
vitamins and minerals from one single system. As an almost-closed system regarding water
consumption, it uses minimal water and can be set up in areas that don’t have plenty of water. All
that is required is food for the fish. Additionally, aquaponics is a model for sustainable food
production because it recycles all of the materials it uses.
28. How does the author develop paragraph 2?
A. By giving definitions. B. By presenting arguments.
C. By analyzing theories. D. By making comparisons.
29. What can we learn about an aquaponics system?
A. Its plants use the fish waste directly. B. Its components coexist for survival.
C. Its grow bed supplies space for fish. D. Its bacteria control the plant growth.
30. Which is an advantage of aquaponics?
A. Raising protein content in plants. B. Using recycled materials to build.
C. Lowering the water consumption. D. Requiring zero human assistance.
31. Which might be a suitable title for the text?
A. All Creatures Are Connected B. Hunger: Fight It Till the End
C. Feeding the Future with Less D. Closed System: Final SolutionD
If you are a perfectionist, you are probably familiar with the feeling of wanting to get
everything right. You may struggle with handing in impressive papers, stress over joint projects, and
even worry about insignificant errors from the past.
High standards are one thing, but perfectionism is quite another. Perfectionists hold themselves
to unrealistically high standards and become self-critical if they believe they fail to meet these
standards. Perfectionists are also likely to feel shame if they experience failures, which often leads
them to avoid situations where they are anxious they might fail.
Although people see the pursuit of excellence as a good thing, on the extreme end, it might do
harm. Researchers have found that perfectionism is associated with depression, anxiety, and eating
disorders. Besides, people who are more strongly identified with perfectionist qualities have reported
higher levels of overall psychological unease.
Giving up on perfection doesn’t mean being less successful. In fact, because mistakes are an
essential part of learning and growing, accepting imperfection can actually help people in the long
run.
One possible alternative to perfectionism involves developing a growth mindset. Unlike those
with fixed mindsets, who see their skill levels as unchangeable, those with growth mindsets believe
they can improve their abilities by learning from their mistakes. Parents can help their children
develop healthier attitudes toward failure: praise their children for making an effort even if their
results are imperfect, and help the children learn to persevere (坚持) when mistakes happen.
Another potential alternative is to develop self-sympathy. Think about how you would respond
to a friend if he has made a major mistake. Odds are, you’d probably respond with kindness and
understanding, knowing that your friend meant well. The idea behind self-sympathy is that we
should treat ourselves kindly and avoid being consumed by negative emotions.
After all, it’s possible to make peace with perfectionism and develop a healthier way of setting
goals for yourself.
32. What does paragraph 2 mainly talk about?
A. The features of perfectionists. B. The standards of perfectionism.
C. The situations of perfectionism. D. The experiences of perfectionists.
33. What can we infer from paragraph 3?
A. The pursuit of excellence does harm to people. B. Perfectionism may worsen mental health
states.
C. The perfectionist qualities are easy to identify. D. A high level of unease signals a stable
mindset.
34. What sets growth and fixed mindsets apart?
A. How to change attitudes. B. How to evaluate children.C. How to improve abilities. D. How to perceive mistakes.
35. How can one develop self-sympathy?
A. By accepting oneself after failures. B. By avoiding making major mistakes.
C. By responding to friends with care. D. By understanding negative emotions.

For a while, Anna and her mother Vera had been arguing about whether to adopt a dog after Anna turned
twelve. Vera was hesitant about bringing a pet into their lives. This disagreement had cast a shadow over
their relationship, making Anna feel unsure of her mother’s love.
On the morning of her twelfth birthday, Anna noticed something near their garden walls while having
breakfast. It took her a moment to figure out what it was, but eventually, she realized it was a little dog. Anna
wondered what to do, but ultimately decided to go out. She couldn’t just leave the dog alone!
Anna walked up to the dog and extended a hand. The dog took a few steps backward, but it didn’t seem
to be terrified of her. He began to sniff (嗅) her hand just seconds later. Anna patted the dog’s head in
response. The dog seemed comfortable with this gesture of affection and stood up to get closer to Anna.
Then, Anna saw a key underneath him. “What is that?” Anna wondered curiously. She picked it up and
remembered one neighbor who told Anna that she was an expert of keys just the day before. She hurried to
her neighbor’s house, taking the dog and the key. When Anna came with the dog in her arms, her neighbor
wowed in amazement. “I found it, along with this key,” Anna carefully placed the key on her neighbor’s
desk.
With a magnifying lens (放大镜), her neighbor examined the key and confidently told her, “I know
what this key is for. You can get inside Velor Castle’s garden with this key. It has information carved in tiny
letters on it.” Though unsure, Anna reasoned, “Perhaps the dog’s owners live there.”
The garden was nearby, so that’s where Anna headed. At the garden gate, the anxious girl put the key
into the keyhole. As soon as it clicked, the door was unlocked.

第一节 应用文写作
One possible version
Dear Chris,
I’m writing to tell you that I’m planning to visit New Zealand this summer vacation. I’ve always
dreamed of seeing the beautiful scenery there, like the amazing mountains and clear lakes. I’m also excited to
experience the local culture and try some delicious food.
Since you’re from New Zealand, I was wondering if you could help me plan my trip. I’m not sure
which places to visit and what activities to do. Maybe you could recommend some popular tourist spots or
interesting things to do. I would really appreciate your advice.
Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节 读后续写
One possible version
Vera and many others were inside! They burst into cheers as Anna appeared, colorful balloons floating
around the garden table filled with gifts. Vera rushed forward, her eyes shining with excitement. “Surprise,
sweetheart!” she cried, hugging Anna tightly. She explained that the key and the little dog were both part of a
carefully planned experience. The neighbor had helped design this “treasure hunt” to lead Anna here. Vera
admitted that she wanted Anna to prove her readiness for pet care through this journey. The dog, a gentle
golden puppy, touched Anna’s hand warmly as if recognizing his new friend.
Hearing Vera’s words, Anna realized who the dog’s owners would be. Tears of joy flooded her eyes as
she understood everything, including the arguments, her mother’s hesitation, and now this perfect gift. “So...
he’s truly ours?” Anna whispered, her voice trembling with hope. Vera nodded, smiling through her own
tears. “Happy birthday, my responsible girl.” The puppy barked happily, waving its tail as Anna knelt to
embrace him. In that moment, all doubts about her mother’s love disappeared, replaced by the warmth of the
tight hug they shared. It was the best birthday Anna could ever imagine.
