If I have to choose between Bilibili and Douyin, I will pick Bilibili.
Bilibili is known for its diverse community where I can find tutorials on various
subjects, from math to science, which can be very beneficial for my studies.
Additionally, it has a platform for creative expression through vlogging and animation,
which I find inspiring.
Therefore, while Douyin is entertaining, Bilibili’s content is more in line with my
academic and creative growth. Bilibili that enriches my life both academically and
personally is my choice..

Just then, the guard approached her, his expression sympathetic. He handed her a
tissue to wipe her tears and then gave her the package Pam had left for her. "Your
grandmother left this for you, just in case," the guard said gently. "Maybe now is the
right moment." Liza's tears slowed as she opened the package. Inside was the dress Pam
had made, the one she had rejected so harshly. She smiled through her tears, feeling a
wave of gratitude. "Grandma always thought of every possibility. It seems she saved
me this time," she whispered to herself. With renewed determination, Liza took the
dress and went to the restroom to change.
Back to the hall in her grandmother’s dress, Liza felt a mix of nervousness and
hope. As she stepped inside, the room fell silent for a moment. Everyone turned to look
at her, their eyes widening in surprise. The dress, with its delicate embroidery and
unique design, shimmered softly under the lights."It's so beautiful!" exclaimed one of
her classmates. Liza's heart swelled with pride and joy as boys and girls alike praised
her dress. Suddenly, the principal took the stage, ready to announce the prom queen.
Liza's name was called, and she felt a thrill of excitement. This was her dream, to be
recognized and admired by her peers. Deep inside she can’t wait to run to her
grandmother, to apologize and thank her for everything.

第 1 页 共 4 页M: In India, I had to eat with my hands. It felt really strange after 25 years of
using a fork and knife.
W: Actually, I only used chopsticks until I went to college in America. A
fork and knife for me was like eating with your hands for you.
Text 2
M: Oh, that's an interesting picture. You have painted it differently.
W: Yes, first I drew the picture in black pencil. Then, instead of using paints
and brushes, as I normally do, I finished it with my fingers and paints.
Text 3
W: What will happen to workplaces after the pandemic? I heard that 47% of
America's office jobs will allow people to work from home.
M: It works for me, since I work in accounting. However, you must go into
the operating room every day, right? That's something you can't really do
from home.

W: Mr. Evans, how are you feeling today?
M: Much better, thanks for calling. But I'm 92, you know. I might need more
help with my shopping and cooking.
W: Don't worry. I've got what you need. I'll be at your place soon to cook for
you.

W: You flew to Rome in March, Paris in June and New York in September
this year. Don't you know that air travel is bad for the environment?
M: Yes, I intend to fly less in the future. When I go to France next time, I will
go by train.

M: Are you a good painter?
W. Not too bad. I guess.
M: What style of pictures do you paint? Are they abstract?
W. No. more like the Impressionism.
M: Oh, that's interesting. You must let me see some of them.
W.I will. What type of paintings do you like?
M:⑥Anything really, although some of those Old Masters look a bit boring
to me.
W: You shouldn’t say that. They were great painters-very skilled.
M: But the subjects always seem so dark. I like to see happier paintings.
W: ⑦I’ll take you to a gallery this weekend and change your mind about

M: ⑧Would you like to have some ice cream?
W: ⑧I wish I could, but I'm on a diet to lose weight.
M: Come on! It's just a bite. It doesn't hurt to have just a bite, does it?
W: ⑧I'd better not.
M: You're really strong-willed. ⑨How much weight are you planning to
lose?
W: ⑨My goal is to lose 10 kilos by the end of this year.
M: That doesn't sound too difficult. How much weight have you lost?
W: ⑨There are still 7 kilos to go. So, it'll be difficult if I eat your ice cream!
All right, I'll have to go to the gym now.

W: ⑪Before we conclude this Olympic live report, let's share some
important moments from tonight's opening event.
M: Thanks, Vicky. With all these global athletes coming together at the Beijing
National Stadium, I feel that we've gotten a clearer idea of the "one world,
one family".
W: That's so true, Bill. And I hope our viewers agree that although certain
forces bring people apart, the Olympics always inspire peace, fairness, and
the “coming together for a shared future”.
M: Perfectly said, Vicky. Yesterday and the day before, we saw the first skiing,
ice skating, and hockey events, ⑪but today's opening event established
the spirit of the games. This event had 3000 performers, and took around
an hour and a half instead of the usual four-hour time period.
W: ⑫To me, the most surprising was the preparation work. The
organizers have done a big amount of work to secure the games!
M: The nation's goal to create a "safe and comfortable" occasion has come
true. We're excited for what comes next!

W: What are you doing this weekend?
第 3 页 共 4 页M: ⑬⑭Working at the Springfield Fire Department’s Open Day. We’ve
got some really fun and interesting things going on. You should come
along!
W: Oh yes! ⑮I forgot that you're a volunteer firefighter! Are you raising
money for charity?
M: Not really. ⑬The main idea is to develop a relationship with people in
the local community. We'll have a mixture of activities, such as rides and
face-painting for the kids.
W: Great!
M: ⑭I'll be taking groups of kids to explore the fire truck. That's always
the thing they're most excited about!
W: I don't blame them!
M: My colleagues will also be giving safety instruction and information about
becoming a volunteer firefighter.
W: Would you recommend the job?
M: Definitely! It's hard work, but I never get bored. We do fight fires, but we
also save animals, help clear vehicle accidents... you never know what the
day will bring. ⑮The sense of pride I get is just fantastic, knowing
that I'm protecting my community.
W: I can imagine! Are there many of you volunteers?
M: ⑯Well, there are a total of 10 firefighters at the station, and only 4 of
them are full-time firefighters. The rest of us volunteer around our
other jobs. But we're a really important part of the team.

W: As more and more people want to get away from common tourist spots, a
new holiday destination has sprung up-Antarctica. However, it might only
be for those rich people if a new policy gets under way. Tourism on
Antarctica has been increasing dramatically in the past 20 years. The
growing numbers are having a negative effect on the environment of the
South Pole. ⑱To prevent this, some researchers have come up with a
possible solution: limit the number of tourists and sell the vacations
to those who make the highest offers. Many environmental protection
agencies agree that there is a need to protect the frozen continent from the
damage created by modern tourism. ⑲Antarctica is the last undamaged
place on Earth. It has an environment that could be easily upset by lots
of tourists landing in planes. A difficulty exists because Antarctica is not
a country and therefore has no government to pass laws to control the
number of visitors. The researchers' proposal seems a possible solution. It
would limit the number of visitors and therefore reduce the amount of
environmental damage, ⑳and the money would be used to protect
Antarctica's future.
