66.Dear David,
I am writing to invite you to contribute an article to the sports column of our school’s
English newspaper, which is very popular among us students.
The article is required to focus on the extracurricular sports activities of British secondary
school students and needs to cover contents such as the types of sports activities popular among
students and how sports contribute to overall well-being and academic performance. It should be
approximately 200 words and should be submitted by May 20th.
Thank you in advance for considering this invitation. I am looking forward to hearing from
you.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
67.“How much do I owe you?” she asked, reaching into her purse. “Nothing,” I said. Then I
quickly opened the door, helped her out of the car with care and took out the big suitcase for her.
At first, the old woman was in amazement. Then she realized my kindness. Deeply moved by whatI had done for her, she couldn’t contain herself, tears of gratitude flowing down her cheeks.
Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly and whispered a
“Thank you”.
I said goodbye to her. She waved to me with a gentle smile and walked to the door of hospice. I
turned around and walked into the dim morning light. Hearing the door shut, my heart sank, with
tears misty my eyes. But in the meanwhile, I was glad what I had done for her. I sincerely hoped
that my small kindness could bring a little warmth to her for the rest of her life.
