Undoubtedly, without your help with my English online every day,I couldn’t have made my English study go smoothly as usual. And it’s your frequent encouragement and positive attitude towards life that guide me out of low spirits to deal with my illness, study and life in such a sound way. Thank you for your kindness again and I do hope you will come to China to have a nice trip where you can witness in person the perfect combination of culture and nature. Yours , Li Hua Ⅱ.读后续写 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。 Fortythree years seems like a long time to remember the name of a mere acquaintance.I have already forgotten the name of an old lady who was a customer on my paper route when I was a twelveyearold boy in Marinette,Wisconsin back in 1954.Yet it seems like just yesterday that she taught me a lesson in forgiveness that I can only hope to pass on to someone else someday. On a Saturday afternoon,a friend and I were throwing rocks onto the roof of the old lady’s house from a secret spot in her backyard. The object of our play was to observe how the rocks changed tomissiles as they rolled to the roof’s edge and shot out into the yard like comets(彗星) falling from the sky. I found myself a perfectly smooth rock and sent it for a ride. The stone was too smooth, however,so it slipped from my hand as I let it go and headed straight for a small window on the old lady’s back porch. At the sound of broken glass,we took off from the old lady’s yard faster than any of our missiles flowing off her roof. I was so scared of getting caught that I was concerned about the old lady with the broken porch window all the time that night. However,a few days later, when I was sure that I hadn’t been discovered,I started to feel guilty for her bad luck. She still greeted me with a smile each day when I gave her the paper, but I was no longer able to look into her eyes. I made up my mind that I would save my paper delivery money, and in three weeks I had the seven dollars that I thought would cover the cost of her window.I put the money in an envelope with a note explaining that I was sorry for breaking her window and hoped that the seven dollars would cover the cost for repairing it. 注意:续写词数应为150左右。 I waited until it was dark. ____________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________ The next day,I handed the old lady her paper. ________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________________ 参考范文 I waited until it was dark.Silently and secretly,I slipped into the yard of the old lady.I looked around and there was nothing but silence.Holding my breath,I put the envelope without signing jammed in her door.As I made my way out,the stone which had hung in my heart for three weeks was eventually gone.I sat on the ground in relief, staring at the sparkling stars smiling to me.I even looked forward to tomorrow’s arrival. The next day,I handed the old lady her paper.Once again,I could have the freedom of looking straight into the old lady’s kind eyes. She greeted me warmly as usual. She thanked me for the paper and gave me a bag of cookies she had made herself.Reaching for the cookies,I felt an envelope and pulled it out of the bag. When I opened the envelope,I was surprised.Inside were the seven dollars and a short note saying,“I’m proud of you!” I got to know it was the grace of forgiveness.
