Dear Mr. Smith,
I’m Li Hua. I’m writing to sincerely invite you to visit the agricultural products
exhibition being held in my hometown, which is aimed at promoting local products and
boosting rural development in China.
The exhibition gathers a variety of high-quality local agricultural products, such as fresh
fruits, organic vegetables, handmade food and traditional Chinese medicinal materials.
Besides displaying products, there are also on-site tasting activities, where you can taste
authentic local flavors for free. You can also talk with local farmers to learn about how these
products are planted and made.
I believe this exhibition will let you know more about my hometown’s culture and rural
development. I’m looking forward to your arrival and I will be your guide then.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

一、参考范文
With no time to think, Pad jumped into the dark, cold water. The icy water made her
shiver violently, but she pushed forward, feeling around desperately for Rame. After a few
anxious seconds, her hands touched his body—he was floating weakly, his leg twisted
awkwardly. She wrapped one arm around his waist and held the rope tightly with the other,
trying to pull him up. The rope burned her already bloody palms, and her arms ached terribly,
but she refused to let go. She kept calling his name to keep him awake, her voice hoarse but
firm. Just as her strength was fading, she heard the sound of fire engines approaching, giving
her a burst of energy to hold on a little longer.
The couple were finally rescued from the well with the firefighters’ help. Rame was
rushed to the nearby hospital immediately for treatment of his head, back and leg injuries,
while Pad was given first aid for her bloody palms and exhausted body. When the doctor told
them that Rame would recover soon with proper rest, Pad let out a long sigh of relief. “You

her eyes glistening. “We farmers don’t give up on our crops, and we never give up on each
other,” she said quietly. Outside, the February mist had lifted, and the sun was beginning to
shine warmly over their pepper fields.

Text 1
M: Excuse me, could you tell me the way to the nearest city library?
W: Turn left at the bakery on the corner of this street. You’ll find one next to a café.
Text 2
W: Did you watch the evening gala on Channel 8 last night?
M: No, I was catching up on my homework. What was it about?
W: It showed our country’s intangible cultural heritage.
Text 3
W: Do you have time to visit the science museum this Friday?
M: I’ll be helping in a nursing home. What about Saturday?
W: Deal. I’ll move my appointment with Lisa to Sunday.
Text 4
M: Shanghai has started outdoor “walking smoking” control measures. Some smokers find
these measures too strict.
W: I disagree. I think these measures should have been introduced much earlier. I sincerely
hope they can be carried out nationwide.
M: Same here.
Text 5
W: Hey, I didn’t expect you to bring a robot home.
M: Yeah, it’s a new helper I picked up in the downstairs shop.
W: Have you given it a name yet?
M: I was thinking maybe “Sparky” — since it lights up when it talks.
Text 6
W: Mr. Holden, you’re back again. Is the pain still there?
M: Yes. My lower back hurts constantly when I sit.
W: Have you stood up?
M: I haven’t had time. I sit at my desk all day.
W: It’s crucial to move your body — you need to change your routine. Even a five-minute
walk every hour can help. Otherwise, you would need surgery later.
M: You’re right. I need to stay healthy. What’s the plan?
W: Let’s do a video call monthly to check on you.
M:Thank you, Doctor Lee.
Text 7
W: Did an accident happen up ahead? We haven’t moved in ages.
M: No, but a big concert is to begin in an hour at the stadium.
W: Oh, my goodness! We should’ve taken the route we usually take. Why did we take this
route today?
M: Because I just want to try a different route. Would you like to listen to some music?
W: How can you be in the mood for music? We have a dinner date with Mr. and Mrs.
Smith at 7 o’clock. And then we will go to the movies at 8:30 p.m. It’s already 6:40
p.m.
M: We can call the Smiths and let them know we will be a bit late for the dinner. And if we
miss the movie, we can always reschedule it. It’s not the end of the world.

W: Hi, Ryan! Did you watch the news last night? There was a big story about China’s
“Artificial Sun”.
M: Oh, I heard about it from my dad this morning! What exactly is it?
W: It’s not a real sun, of course. It’s a scientific device called EAST. It copies the way the
sun produces energy. And the most amazing part is that it has set a new world record!
M: Wow. Why is this device so important?
W: If we can use this technology in the future, it might help solve our energy problems.
M: That’s great. No wonder my dad said this is a big step for Chinese science. Let’s learn
more about it. How about finding some videos online after school?
W: Good idea! Oh, Mr. Cook is coming. Let’s go back to our seats!
Text 9
W: Daniel Chen is a 28-year-old professional chess player. Daniel, how did you begin your
journey in playing chess?
M: I got interested in chess after watching a documentary in the early 2000s. It made me
curious about the strategies and thinking behind the game.
W: Can you describe a typical competition day?
M: One of the most attractive aspects of being a professional chess player is the flexibility.
There is no standard day. One day I might spend my time competing in a tournament at
the World Championship, and I will follow the tournament schedule for as long as I
remain in it. The next day I might wake up not feeling like competing and decide to rest
or work on one of my other projects.
W: Can you describe a reality of being a professional chess player that other people may
not realize?
M: The flexibility is a two-sided coin. You are your own manager and generally there’s no
one to give you directions on what to do or where to be. But you can often feel isolated
because there is no real sense of teamwork in chess.
Text 10
Welcome everyone and thank you for joining us. As you know, this will be our last
meeting before we set off to Thailand, so I’d like to review the details of the four
environmental projects we’ll be carrying out there. Our first destination will be Bangkok,
where we will arrive on March 10th. We will be there for ten days, organizing a cleanup of
rivers in the area. The goal is that fish populations will eventually recover in the area. On
March 20th, we will travel south to Phuket, where we will be planting trees. We hope the
hundreds of trees we plant over eight days will help restore the condition of the coastline.
From March 28th until heading home on April 28th, we will be in Chiang Mai, where we
hope to clear polluted waterways, to allow wildlife to return to the clean water environment
they used to inhabit. While in Chiang Mai, we’ll also conduct workshops with the local
residents to raise awareness about protecting their water resources and maintaining a
healthy environment. Now, does anyone have any questions or additional comments?
