Instead, it pulled me into an unexpected spiral of reflection. What do I truly want to leave behind? What traces of my life will matter when I am no longer here? The questions felt heavy, but they carried a hidden gift. Writing about my possessions made me think not of objects, but of people—my children, my partner, my friends. Suddenly, I saw how every choice I make is connected to love. The books on my shelves, the photographs on the wall, even the recipes in my kitchen are not just things; they are extensions of care, memory, and joy. In the middle of this process, I recognized that a will is less about death than about life. It is about pausing long enough to notice what I value most. The act of writing forced me to define the essence of what I hope my family remembers: not money or furniture, but kindness, curiosity, and the laughter we shared. I felt lighter after finishing the document. Instead of fear, I carried gratitude. I saw my life not as incomplete but as perpetual, filled with small opportunities to live with intention. If facing death teaches anything, it is that the present moment is our most generous gift. Every day, I can choose to pass on patience, love, and courage. What began as a legal form turned into a reminder: life is fragile, but it is also abundant. And if I am mindful, then even in the ordinary rhythm of my days, I am already leaving behind what matters most. 24. What realization did the author have while writing her will? A. Writing a will was easier than she had expected. B. She owned more valuable property than she thought. C. Objects in her life were deeply tied to people and memories. D. Her family members were not interested in material possessions. 25. What can be inferred about the author’s attitude toward death? A. She avoided thinking about it. B. She feared it even more than before. C. She decided never to discuss it again. D. She became calmer and more grateful. 26. What does the underlined word “perpetual” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Aging B. Dying C. Lasting D. Confusing 27. Which proverb best expresses the main idea of the passage? A. Actions speak louder than words. B. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. C. You can’t take it with you when you go. 高一英语 试题 第 4 页 共 10 页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司D. Love and the present matter most. C Have you wondered how your body knows when to wake up or why you need to go to the toilet less at night? Circadian rhythms use the sun to help your body to run on time. “Circadian rhythms” is another name for body clocks. They are controlled by a small part of the brain called the hypothalamus (下丘脑) and they let the body know when to do things like eat, sleep and go to the toilet. Circadian rhythms repeat every 24 hours and almost every living thing has them. They tell animals the best time to hunt, for example, and plants when to flower. Circadian rhythms are influenced by light. When the sun shines through the window in the morning your body clock tells you it’s time to wake up. When it’s dark your body feels sleepy. Good-quality sleep lets your brain recharge and replace important hormones ( 荷尔蒙) to keep you healthy. Not listening to your body clock, such as going to bed late, can mess with your sleep cycle and make you feel tired and easy to get angry the next day. Circadian rhythms also affect energy, digestion (消化) and body temperature. In fact, scientists have found that they help our whole body run smoothly. Swathi Yadlapalli is a scientist who studies how people grow and develop. She says, “Almost every part in the human body has a circadian clock.” Circadian rhythms are written into people’s genes (基因), which are the body's instructions for how to develop and grow. We can’t change them but we can listen to what they are telling us. The Sleep Charity, which helps people to sleep better, recommends sticking to regular sleep patterns. So whether you are used to staying up late, or getting up early, try going to bed and getting up at the same time every day. It also suggests getting lots of natural light in the morning. Even if the sky is cloudy and grey, the natural light can reset your body clock and make you feel more awake. 28. Which part of the brain controls circadian rhythms? A. The hormone system. B. The hypothalamus. C. The digestive system. D. The gene center. 29. What is the function of circadian rhythms? A. They help plants get sunlight more easily. B. They regulate the hypothalamus to work faster. C. They control the movement of main parts in the body. D. They tell living things when to perform certain activities. 30. What can be inferred about natural light? A. It makes people feel sleepy at night. B. It has no effect on hormone production. C. It sometimes influences circadian rhythms. D. It helps little even on cloudy and grey days. 高一英语 试题 第 5 页 共 10 页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司31. What does the author suggest doing? 高一英语 试题 第 5 页 共 10 页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司A. Stopping staying up too late. B. Getting up early the next day. C. Having a fixed sleep routine daily. D. Listening to music before sleeping. D My studies once showed that students perform better when they take notes by hand than when they use laptops. Before I knew it, those studies were used as good reasons for laptop bans (禁止) in classrooms in the U.S. I received a lot of emails blaming (责备) me for such ideas. The fact is that I don’t actually support laptop bans, and never have. In fact, I don’t even ban laptops in my own classes. In the research, we asked students to watch TED Talks and had them take notes either on laptops or with a pen and paper. Students using laptops recorded the talks nearly with every word, while students who took handwritten notes could not; they just took notes in their own words. Writing by hand required students to understand and summarize the talk. And deeper processing (加工) of the information led to improved learning. As a result, students in this case get higher points on tests. My findings came out. Teachers around the country soon started banning laptops in their classes. But they didn’t know what actually made learning difficult was the mindless recording of a lecture. Laptops just allowed students to take notes more quickly. Like most technology, laptops are not universally helpful or harmful in class. Whether they are helpful or harmful depends on the aim. The value of a laptop in the classroom depends on the goal of a lesson plan, the nature of the text, the kind of students being taught, etc. So can laptops be used in the classroom? If a lesson requires exact quotes, then laptops are excellent. But if the goal is conceptual ( 概念的) understanding, they will produce the exactly opposite results. Don’t forget the situation when deciding whether or not to allow laptops in your class. All in all, the answer to the question is that it depends. 32. Why did the author receive many blaming emails? A. He banned laptops in classes. B. His studies supported laptop bans. C. His research results let people down. D. Schools used his studies to ban laptops. 33. What was the key difference between laptop notes and handwritten notes in the research? A. Laptop notes were much more detailed. B. Handwritten notes bettered thinking ability. C. Handwritten notes recorded every word in need. D. Laptop notes were written in students’ own words. 34. What did the author think made learning difficult in the case of laptop use? A. The technology of laptops itself. B. Students’ improper use of laptops. 高一英语 试题 第 6 页 共 10 页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司C. The speed of taking notes with laptops. D. The design of lesson plans for laptop users. 35. What is the main idea of the passage? A. Handwritten notes are better for students ’ learning than laptop notes. B. Laptop bans in classrooms are unreasonable and should be prohibited. C. The use of laptops in classrooms should be decided based on situations. D. Research on note-taking methods helps improve teaching achievements. 第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为 多余选项。 Meetings are a key way to get yourself noticed. When you “hold your own” in a meeting, you show that you're confident, and this can mark you out as a future leader __36___ So no matter how many great ideas you have in your head, they’re useless to you, your team, and your organization until you express them. Here is the guide to getting your voice heard at meetings. Come prepared. Have some talking points planned out before you express your idea. Practice with a trusted colleague who can help you iron out any problems. Imagine the possible reactions people might have to your idea. __37__ What are some questions that might come up in response to your idea? How will you answer those questions? Get to the point. Engage people in with the main points of the idea, then dive into the details. When you start strong you’ll give them a reason to continue listening. __38___ People are overwhelmed with numerous things to do at work. While the eight second attention span may be a myth, people certainly appreciate brevity (简短) now more than ever. __39___ People lose interest when they’re listening to a long talk. Invite them to be a part of your idea. Organize your argument in a way that makes them want to ask questions and learn more. When you give them time to ask questions, they’ll be more interested, attentive, and engaged. The more you can engage them, the more they’ll truly listen. Have confidence in yourself. The more you believe in yourself, the more that shows through when you express an idea. People can hear the confidence in your voice when you speak and see it in your body language. If you allow yourself to think that you’re nervous, you'll convince yourself to be. Fight nerves by taking a few moments to stand in a power pose. ___40____ A. Time is precious. B. Make it a conversation. C. Speak with elegance and intention. D. Unluckily, your colleagues can't read minds. E. It gives you time to quiet your mind and focus. F. As we passed the Eaton’s department store's window, we stopped as usual to have a look and bought something that we wanted. The beautifully decorated window display held the best toys ever. Pretty toys all lay beneath 高一英语试题 第 10 页 共 10 页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司a surprisingly fantastic dress. Mum's eyes were glued to its shining red satin ( 缎子). “My goodness,” she whispered. “Look at that!” Then, Mum looked down at her own. Mum was forever doing housework, washing laundry and working in the garden. So she always wore house dresses and an apron (围裙) to protect the front. “What a silly dress!” She shook her head. “Who would want such a big dress?” As we continued down the street, Mum turned her head for one more look. “My goodness! They should display something a person could use!” Mother’s Day was nearing, and the red dress was soon forgotten. Mum was not the one to spend money on items that were not practical. Choosing a gift for Mother’s Day for her was quite hard. When Dad and I asked, she thought carefully, and then asked for some tea towels, facecloths or a new basin. On our last trip to town before Mother's Day, we were driving up Main Street when mother suddenly shouted in surprise: “Look!” She pointed as Dad drove past Eaton’s. “That big red dress is gone,” she said in disbelief. “Who'd be fool enough to buy such a dress? Mum questioned, shaking her head. I was almost certain that I noticed a trace of eagerness in her voice. “Why not earn the money myself for this stunning red dress?” I thought to myself. However, I was stuck---which shop would hire an 8-grade student who had no working experience at all? Feeling confused, I approached Dad for his opinion. Dad told me that “Believe in yourself, my sweetie, maybe you could give Eaton’ s department store a try.” 注意: 1. 续写词数应为 120 左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1: With determination, I went to the store and asked if they needed a salesgirl. ______________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: On the morning of Mother’s Day, Mum received a large box. ______________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________ 高一英语试题 第 10 页 共 10 页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司
