The Power of Sports
Dear fellow classmates,
I feel extremely privileged to stand here to share my experience about running. To be frank, I used
to be weak and shy, and I seldom exercised. What’s worse, I could barely finish 400 meters without
gasping for breath.
However, last year, I started running every morning. At first, it was really tiring, but I kept on going.
Gradually, I became healthier and more confident. I also made many new friends while exercising. More
importantly, running has taught me perseverance. Whenever I am faced with difficulties in study, I remind
myself: just keep moving forward. Sports build not only our body but also our spirit.
That’s the power of sports.
Thank you!

Paragraph 1: That night, I couldn’t wait to open the book and read it carefully. It was a book full
of interesting stories and useful knowledge about life and nature. The words were easy to understand but
full of wisdom, which attracted me deeply. I forgot all the tiredness from working in the store that day
and read until late at night. For the first time, I realized how wonderful reading was. I used to spend my
free time playing outdoors with friends after work, but now I looked forward to reading more books every
day. I kept the book on my desk and read a few pages whenever I had time.
Paragraph 2: A few days later, I met the elderly lady again in the store. She came to buy a small
table for her garden. Seeing me, she smiled warmly and asked if I liked the book. I nodded excitedly and
told her how much I loved reading it. She was very happy to hear that and told me reading could open a
new world for me. My parents also came over and thanked her for the meaningful gift. From then on, the
lady often visited the store and sometimes recommended good books to me. That small book and the kind
lady not only gave me a new hobby but also taught me the beauty of kindness, which has influenced my
whole life.

A 篇
【答案】21.C 22.B 23.D
Stonehenge
的描述 “a mysterious ancient stone circle” 以及 “the real purpose of its building still remains a puzzle”
District... It is an ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering wonderful opportunities for hiking,

根据第三段“The island is not a good place for mammals to live...
The island is home to birds.”
25. 答案:B 解析:根据倒数第二段 “After two months of treatment, a fat and healthy sea lion could
take small steps happily. The once weak and ill-fed baby had got well and was ready to return to the wild.”
26. 答案:D 解析:根据第四段 “Once safely ashore, the baby was picked up by the staff from The
Marine Mammal Center, who transported him to their animal hospital in the Headlands.”

根据第三段 “Internet searches (48 percent) and recommendations from
friends and family (41 percent) still remain the most common ways to choose where to go.”
根据最后一段的“travellers still want to communicate with a travel company before
booking trips(旅行者在预订行程前仍希望与旅行社进行沟通)”以及“because of that group of
customers who think it’s necessary to go in and look someone in the eye when they’re booking
通读全文,尤其是第一段“AI has made its way into almost every field, and
according to Abta’s latest Holiday Habits report, the travel industry is no exception. The rate of people
using AI to get some travel ideas has doubled in the past 12 months, up to 8 percent from 4 percent.(人工
part in travel planning.(人工智能在旅行规划中日益重要的作用。)”。

【答案】32.A 33. C 34.B 35. C
根据第二段 “…an ice battery system freezes water during the night… and uses this
ice to cool the building during the day.”
由第四段 “…control of that temperature basically anywhere we want it, in the zero
to 20℃ range.”
根据最后一句 “It’s a win-win for all.”(这对所有人来说都是双赢)可判断,作
doubtful(怀疑的)、worried(担忧的)、uncaring(漠不关

B (“This lake is not just a resting place, but an important destination for their survival.”)
at...”
E (“This advanced system collects data without disturbing birds.”) 中的 “This advanced system”
F (“However, technology is not the only solution.”)
39. 答案:A
A (“Now, the situation has completely changed.”)
D (“Many countries along the flyway have joined hands to protect the habitats.”)
C (“As a result, the number of tourists visiting the lake has dropped sharply.”):
G (“Nevertheless, the water quality in the lake is still getting worse.”):

46. D. compared to

49. B. care

Text 1
W: Excuse me, could you tell me where Gate 25 is? My flight will be boarding in 20 minutes.
M: Turn right at the gift shop up ahead. Then go up the stairs there. Gate 25 is right next to the coffee
shop.
Text 2
W: Mike, can you help me clean the house tomorrow evening?
M: Sorry, I promised to go to my uncle’s. He has been ill.
W: Then how about this weekend?
M: Okay. I’ll be free after the meeting on Saturday.
Text 3
W: The weatherman said it would be 15 degrees Celsius in Dallas this weekend. It’ll be 5 degrees higher
than in Chicago.
M: It’s not surprising at all. Chicago is over 1,000 kilometers to the north of Dallas. And the weather in
Minneapolis will be 8 degrees Celsius.

Text 4
W: Skating is more difficult than I expected. After two weeks of practice, I still fall down a lot.
M: It takes time to get the hang of it. I fell a lot too when I started to learn it. Make sure to wear something,
like a helmet and knee pads, to protect yourself.
Text 5
W: Sally had an operation on her leg in the hospital last week.
M: Oh, that’s bad. When will she be back to work?
W: She’s recovering well at home now. She is expected to return to our team next week

Text 6
M: Excuse me, ma’am. May I see your driver’s license?
W: OK. But why? I parked the car in the right place.
M: This road has a 70 km/h speed limit. But you were traveling at a speed of 75 km/h.
W: What? I thought my speed was 65 km/h. And I didn’t see any speed limit signs.
M: Our speed camera is very dependable. And you have to pay $50 in fines. If you have any question,
you can come to the traffic police station to check the record. But you’ll have to pay an extra $30 then.
W: I understand. I will pay the fine now.

Text 7
M: Are you going to the shop? I’d like some beef tonight.
W: You already had chicken yesterday. Haven’t you forgotten what Dr. Bridwell said? You should only
eat meat once a week. Besides, we’ve spent too much this week.
M: I’ve had enough. A salad just doesn’t make me feel full, and I can’t sleep well afterward.
W: I know, but you have to be on a diet for at least a month. Many people like you have lost about 50
pounds.
M: Alright. But can you just make a cake?
W: Sorry, but no. Our little son can’t have sweet food. I’ll prepare something special for you tonight.

Text 8
W: I’ll be at the office to work from 5:00 a. m, until late evening tomorrow. Here’s a list of things you
need to deal with.
M: Wow, it’s pretty long. Are you sure I can manage all of it?
W: Well, you have to. Firstly, on the way to school, stop by the sandwich shop and get what the kids want
for lunch. Then go to the supermarket on your way back. I’ve attached the grocery list.
M: Got it. Anything else?

W: After picking up the kids from school, you need to make sure they do their homework right away.
Help Kate with her math and history, and Martin with his chemistry.
M: What about Dave’s football practice?
W: It starts at 6:00 p.m. You need to arrive at the gym 20 minutes early. Don’t be late.
M: That sounds like a busy day.

Text 9
W: Hi, Sam. How is your son getting on with his new school?
M: To be honest, we’re struggling. Ever since his school introduced the new online learning platform,
Leo has been glued to his laptop. He even has to finish his homework on it after dinner. I’m worried this
will put pressure on Leo’s life.
W: That’s a really common concern now. Many parents feel the line between school and home has become
unclear because of digital learning. But some schools are starting to set up Screen-free Days to prevent
students from overusing electronic tools.
M: How I wish Leo’s school took this action, too! You know, after work, Lucy is busy looking after her
mother, and I have to prepare dinner at home. We don’t have much time to keep an eye on Leo.
W: Understood. My daughter’s school starts a “no screen-time homework” practice every Wednesday. It
has made an obvious difference to my family.
