Ⅱ. Learning Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students are able to:

1.To master some words and expressions about introducing themselves, especially the expressions about personality and learning styles.

2.To appreciate the sample profiles and fetch important information about Ann and Thando.

3.To write student profiles independently and use the checklist to evaluate and improve their own writing.

·Key points: Text information extraction; structure and useful patterns of a student profile.

·Difficult points: Organize ideas logically and write a fluent student profile.

Ⅳ. Teaching Procedures

Step 1 Review & Leadin (8 mins)

1.Review phrases about learning habits.

2.Brainstorm elements of selfintroduction: name, age, personality, hobbies, dream, etc.

3.Explain the term “profile”: a brief introduction of a student.

Step 2 Reading & Text Analysis (15 mins)

1.Students read two sample passages about Ann and Thando. Complete informationfilling tasks covering basic information, personality, subjects, learning styles, hobbies and dreams.

2.Sum up the text structure: Basic information → Personality → Learning style & favourite subject → Hobbies → Future dream

Step 3 Prewriting (10 mins)

1.Consolidate personality adjectives.

2.Sort out practical sentence patterns for basic info, personality, hobbies and dreams. Compare simple and advanced sentence versions for expression upgrading.

Step 4 Writing & Sharing (10 mins)

·Writing task: Write a selfintroduction as Li Hua for foreign teacher Mr. Smith.

·Requirements: Include basic information, personality, learning style, hobbies and dream.

·Students write independently. Teacher offers onsite guidance. Invite some students to share their work and give comments.

Step 5 Summary & Homework (2 mins)

1.Summary: Review the structure and key expressions of a student profile.

2.Homework: Revise your writing.

Ⅴ. Teaching Reflection

Observe students’ mastery of vocabulary and sentence patterns. Note down common writing mistakes for future improvement.
