Yue Fei: The Loyal General（精忠报国岳飞）

Yue Fei is one of the most famous and brave patriotic generals in the Southern Song Dynasty. He devoted his entire life to defending his country and protecting ordinary people from foreign invasion. At that time, the powerful Jin army from northern China kept invading the Song border, bringing endless wars and suffering to the land.

To resist the enemy, Yue Fei led the famous Yue Family Army to fight bravely on the front line. His soldiers were strictly trained and well-disciplined. They fought fearlessly and won countless battles, making the aggressive Jin army extremely afraid of them. However, while Yue Fei and his soldiers were sacrificing for the country, many weak court officials preferred peaceful negotiation rather than fighting. Their compromise and cowardice made Yue Fei’s fight against the invasion much harder.

One rainy and gloomy day, Yue Fei stood quietly by the railing. Looking at the broken rivers and mountains and the suffering people, he was filled with sorrow and anger. He recalled his years of hard fighting and his unswerving loyalty to his nation. Filled with strong patriotic feelings, he wrote the timeless famous poem Man Jiang Hong.

In this inspiring poem, Yue Fei mentioned the humiliating Jingkang Shame in history. During that crisis, the fierce Jin soldiers took away two Song emperors and brought great shame to the country. He expressed his burning desire to defeat the invaders completely. He made a solemn vow that he would lead his army forward, break the enemy’s defenses, and recover all the lost land.

His powerful words fully showed his great dream: to unify the nation, drive out the enemies, and bring lasting peace to the homeland. Unfortunately, this loyal general did not get a good ending. He was wrongly framed by treacherous officials and died unjustly.

Though Yue Fei passed away, his spirit and great poem have lived on for thousands of years. His story teaches later generations the true meaning of courage, loyalty and deep love for our motherland.
