AI Student Spotlight|It Is All-Powerful, Yet Not All-Powerful
《学画花》
我是北京电影学院动画学院AI动画创作实战高研班第四期学员安仁(本名马海钦),在高研班学习与实战的一周是对我的“AI观”产生巨大冲击与深刻影响的一段宝贵经历。
I am An Ren, a participant of the Advanced AI Animation Workshop – Phase 4 at the Animation School of Beijing Film Academy. The week I spent learning and creating in this program was an invaluable experience that jolted and profoundly reshaped my entire outlook on AI.

AI技术的兴起和快速迭代无疑是令人兴奋的。根据历史经验,每一次生产工具的进步所带来的生产力革命,最终都将导致经济结构和生产关系的剧变。而这对于一名非科班、无背景、零资源的影视内容创作者来说,意味着一次历史性的机遇。AI技术所带来的指数级效率提升,不仅实现了构思的光速作品化,更从根本上动摇了现有的技术、资本、渠道、资历壁垒,从而提供了一个让作品被更广泛的观众看见的机会。
The rise and rapid iteration of AI technology are, without a doubt, exhilarating. History shows us that every leap in the tools of production triggers a revolution in productivity, ultimately leading to dramatic shifts in economic structures and relations of production. For a film and content creator like me who has no formal training, no background, and no resources, this represents a historic opportunity. The exponential efficiency gains driven by AI not only make it possible to turn ideas into finished works at lightning speed, but also shake the very foundations of the old barriers built on technical skill, capital, distribution channels, and seniority. In doing so, AI offers a real chance for our work to be seen by a much wider audience.

对AI技术的巨大期待促使我第一时间报名参加了高研班的学习,也正是这样一段与AI动画近距离接触的日子让我对于AI技术产生了更多的了解与思考:
My immense hope for AI technology prompted me to sign up for this advanced workshop as soon as I could, and it was these days of close, hands-on contact with AI animation that gave me deeper understanding and more reflections on the technology:
一、AI是“万能”的
AI Is “All-Powerful”
课程伊始,课堂上所展示的老师作品和学员作品就深深震撼了我。一方面是因为题材和手法的丰富程度远超想象,另一方面是因为能清晰地看到,仅仅在一年或半年的时间内,AI技术的迭代已经可以让同一创作者的作品呈现质的飞跃。这不得不令人对未来AI所能实现的效果产生无限遐想。
Right from the start of the course, I was stunned by the instructors’ personal works and the projects of past students shown in class. On the one hand, the sheer range of subject matter and techniques was far beyond anything I had imagined. On the other hand, I could clearly see that in just six months or a year, the rapid iteration of AI had already enabled the same creator to make a genuine qualitative leap in their work. It’s impossible not to daydream endlessly about what effects AI will be capable of in the future.
同时,实战经验丰富的老师们所展现的成熟工作流程和超强“单兵作战能力”也让我惊叹不已。从剧本创作阶段开始,故事板梳理、分镜设计、关键帧生成、视频片段生成、剪辑、音效设计、后期包装,每一个环节无不体现着AI的强大和“万能”。每当AI带来超乎预期的成果时,惊喜之余甚至会让我自惭形秽。
At the same time, I was awestruck by the mature workflows and formidable “one-person army” capability displayed by our hands-on instructors. From scriptwriting through storyboard organization, shot design, keyframe generation, video clip generation, editing, sound design, and final packaging — every single step embodied the power and “all-powerfulness” of AI. Whenever the AI delivered results beyond expectations, the delight was so great that it genuinely made me feel humbled.

二、AI不是“万能”的
AI Is Not “All-Powerful”
然而,随着与AI相处日久、理解加深,一些AI的缺陷也清晰地显现出来,其中,有一些并非依赖AI技术自身迭代就能解决的问题尤其值得注意。
However, the more time I spent with AI and the deeper my understanding grew, the more some of its flaws became glaringly apparent. In particular, a few issues that will not simply be solved by technological iteration alone are especially worth noting.
例如,AI作品的“原创”属性问题正随着AI作品量的急速累积而让人无法忽视。当一段文字、一张图片、一段音乐“投喂”AI参考后输出了“新内容”,这样的内容是否就可以被认为是创作者“原创”的,这样的内容原创性究竟有多少,以及这样的“原创”是否应当被鼓励,类似的问题已在社会上表达为法律纠纷和伦理讨论,而对于每一个认真对待创作的创作者个人,内心里也终究需要有一个答案。
For instance, the problem of “originality” in AI-generated works has become impossible to ignore as the volume of such works explodes. When we feed a piece of text, an image, or a segment of music into AI as a reference and it outputs “new content”, can this content truly be considered the creator’s “original” work? How much originality does it actually contain? And should this kind of “originality” be encouraged? Such questions have already spilled into society in the form of legal disputes and ethical debates. For every creator who takes their work seriously, an answer must eventually be found within their own heart.
又例如,AI作品的“艺术性”问题。当创作者试图通过输入一段理性的文字描述、经过理性的机器“思考”、从而生成一种感性表达时,这种努力是勇敢的尝试还是一厢情愿,这是一个理论问题,也是一个实践问题。
Another example is the question of “artistic quality” in AI works. When a creator tries to generate an emotional expression by typing in a rational, textual description and letting a rational machine “think”, is this endeavor a brave experiment, or merely wishful thinking? It is both a theoretical question and a practical one.

三、AI时代何以自处
Finding Our Place in the Age of AI
怀抱着学习过程中所产生的上述疑问,我决定用作品来纾解这久久挥之不去的困惑,于是就有了这部以反思AI技术为主题的AI动画作品——《学画花》。全面地了解AI、看到AI可能给我们的未来带来的各种影响,是我们自身在一个已然到来却依旧迷雾重重的AI时代找到安身立命之法的必要工作。而与此相对应的,如何看待人作为人应如何成长和发展,可能是更为迫切需要解决的问题。
Carrying these questions that emerged during my studies, I decided to work through my lingering confusion by making a piece myself. That was how Learning to Paint Flowers came about — an AI-animated work that reflects on AI technology itself. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of AI, and seeing all the possible impacts it may bring to our future, is a necessary step in finding solid ground and a way to live in an AI era that has already arrived yet is still shrouded in heavy fog. Correspondingly, the question of how we, as human beings, should view our own growth and development may be an even more urgent issue to solve.

在此,我由衷地感谢动画学院各位老师对于我和我的作品的包容与支持。当我把我的困惑讲述给孙立军教授、王昊老师、孙佳老师、夏子玉老师等多位老师后,老师们都给予了耐心而真诚解答。虽观点各有不同,但都依然以开放包容的心态鼓励我继续完成作品创作,这使我不断葆有着继续创作和探索的动力。
Here, I want to sincerely thank all the teachers at the Animation School for their acceptance and support of both me and my work. When I shared my confusion with Dean Sun Lijun, as well as teachers Wang Hao, Sun Jia, Xia Ziyu and others, they all offered patient and genuine answers. Though their viewpoints varied, every one of them, with an open and inclusive attitude, encouraged me to keep completing my creative work. This is what continuously fuels my motivation to keep creating and exploring.
虽有迷茫,仍勇敢前往,这是我在高研班各位老师和同学身上学到的最可贵的品质。马克思有言:“人应该在实践中检验自己认识的真理性”。我想,各位老师和同学们在孜孜不倦、挑灯夜战、衣带渐宽终不悔的,正是这样一件事吧!
Press forward bravely despite the confusion — that is the most valuable quality I learned from all the teachers and classmates in this workshop. Karl Marx once said, “Man must prove the truth of his knowledge through practice”. I believe that this is exactly what the teachers and my fellow classmates are doing for all the endeavor they made.
