Overall, private studios are the most popular facility, accounting for 48%. In terms of dance genres, ballet is most popular among those under 11, whereas modern dance is favoured by the older section. Notably, tap dance maintains a relatively consistent level of participation in both age groups.
For more detailed information about the location of the dance classes, with private studios in the lead, school halls, typically used for after-school activities, represent 24% of the total. Community halls and other venues make up 18%, whilst college-based studios are the least utilized location, taking up only 10%.
When it comes to the specific/ particular dance types, there are clear age-related preferences/ disparities. Ballet is the most fashionable class for children under 11, with approximately 600 students; however, participation drops significantly to around 300 for the 11–16 group. In contrast, modern dance shows an opposite trend, with only roughly 300 students under 11, but the number of students aged 11 to 16 soared/ rocketed to over 500. Different from the two trends above, tap dance shows the most balanced distribution, with around 450 students under 11 and 400 students aged 11 to 16 respectively.
