Good or Bad Idea?” is scheduled to be held by our English club in the school lecture hall from 2:30 pm to

We were fully prepared at this point to open the safe by force, starting with a drill. The overwhelming
tension in the air of the basement weighed heavily on our hearts. Additionally, the boy’s weak breath from the
safe brought our hearts into our mouths, which urged us to act quickly. “Stay back and you’ll be alright.” I
soothed the helpless boy in a calming voice. Sweats streaming down my cheeks, I examined the safe carefully,
pointed the drill to its front door and turned on the drill. As the drill was roaring, I could even sense the
parents’ anxious eyes fall on the drill. I knew, from the bottom of my heart, we were all racing against time.
Meanwhile, my workmate, focused and determined, was making every attempt to try to input the code.
Then, just as we started to make the first cut, my workmate in the correct code. Every click of the safe
lock sounded like an ear-catching note. To our disbelief, the safe clicked open. With trembling hands, we
swung open the heavy door and inside was the nine-year-old boy, safe and unharmed. What a relief! The boy
poking his head out of the safe, thunderous applause and cheers echoed through the basement. The boy’s
parents approached the safe and gathered him in their warm embraces, tears of gratitude and relief welling up
in their eyes. Mission accomplished perfectly, the family conveyed their hearty thanks to us again and again.
An overwhelming wave of pride surged through me. The boy’s narrow escape was a reminder of why I chose

M: Back to the news. Last Friday a storm hit two villages destroying fourteen houses. Seven others were so
badly damaged that their owners had to leave them, and fifteen others had broken windows. One person was
killed, and nine were badly injured and taken to hospital. A number of other people received small injuries.
Altogether over two hundred were left homeless as a result of the storm. A farmer said the storm began early
in the morning and lasted over an hour. He was in the kitchen with his wife and his children when they heard
a loud noise. A few minutes later their house fell down on top of them. They managed to climb out but then he
saw that one of his children was missing. He went back inside and found him safe but very frightened. A
woman said that her husband had just left for work when she noticed that her house was shaking. She rushed
outside immediately with her children. There was no time for her to take anything. A few minutes later, the
roof came down. Soldiers went to the area to help the people in trouble.
