描述身材:tall,small,short,of medium height… 2.描述体型:fat,thin, slim, big, small,of medium build, strong等. 3.描述相貌:beautiful, pretty, good-looking, charming, sweet, handsome, funny, ugly, peculiar, rough, ill-looking 4. She eats too much these days , so her face is getting round . Her hair is brown and curly. His eyes are deep-set because he has worked till midnight for a long time. He had the most beautiful blue eyes I had ever seen. He was born a hooked nose. His nose is very big, so he doesn't like it. When he laughs, we see his even teeth. She has a double chin. He looks casual just wearing a tweed suit. Because of his high scores, he smiles brightly. A friendly smile will help you to win others heart. She is charming when she smiles. 1.He was wonderfully good-looking,with his brown hair, his clear-cut face, and his grey eyes.he was popular with the men as he was with women. 2.He was a strange, rough fellow, with a freckled face and red, rough bear He was standing on a raised platform in a corner of the room.he was a wizened old man with wrinkled face and a sad expression.over his shoulder was thrown a rough brown coat, all torn and full of holes, his thick boots were old and patched ;and with one hand he leaned on a rough stick, while with the other he held out his battered hat for money. 4.He was the man with the gun.he was a heavy man, bald, with scarred and brutal face. he had been in a hundred fights, and they'd left their marks on him. 5.They were a pack of bearded ,ragged,half-naked animals, and i probably looked as bad as they. 6.Robert is 21 years old. I wrote a story about a native American girl named White Lily as she and her family prepared to travel to their winter camping grounds. From that one-page short story, I continued writing as I grew older, filling notebook after notebook with tales of fantastic kingdoms, thrilling journeys to the stars, and tales of noble heroes who faced deadly groups of enemies. But sometimes, inspiration would fail me—I’d find myself staring at an empty page, and the words wouldn’t come no matter how hard I tried. Being home educated, my awesome teacher was my mom. She gave me the freedom to explore different forms of writing and practice my skills. And when I hit a brick wall one day, I asked her how on earth to overcome the terrible curse (诅咒) of writer’s block. She had a unique way. “You just need to write a stump (树桩) story!” she declared. “That’s what to do when you get stumped.” “What should it be about?” I asked her, my eyes wide. “Why, a STUMP, of course!” I was puzzled. Why on earth would writing a story about an actual stump help me work out which heroic adventure I should write about next? I stormed out of the room, and grabbed my notebook. Pencil in hand, I wasangry as I stared at that teasing, empty page. Rolling my eyes, I eventually gave in. “At least this is easier than writing a long and complex ad venture story,” I thought to myself. And I wrote a very short story about an actual stump in the forest. After writing that boring but inspiring story, I felt better. I had a much clearer idea of what to write. So I began to write a story about a brave prince and his little sister who got into trouble more often than not. I kept writing on the wonderful afternoon. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________ This experience has taught me a valuable lesson. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________ 2. “Look!” I said to my husband, Roger, pointing to the branches. “The doves (鸽子) have built a nest. On a chilly April day, we watched with horror as a hawk dived down and took one of the doves. By the next morning the other parent was gone too. Roger climbed up a ladder to take a look into the nest. Was it possible the hawk had spared the young? Yes, there sat a newly hatched baby dove! We brought him inside and set up the nesting box with the heat lamps we had used for raising chickens. Then we rushed to the pet shop to buy the formula (配方奶) which needed to look like the mother’s milk. But even with our care and prayers, we knew that the dove’s chances were slim. We were especially worried that our little bird, whom we’d named Hawkeye, hardly cooed (咕咕地叫) at all. That had to be a bad sign. But to our surprise, Hawkeye not only survived but also thrived. Within a month, he was able to stand on the edge of a bowl and eat out of a baby spoon. And before we knew it, he was eating the seeds we gave him. Havingthe opportunity to nurture this new life brought me a greater measure of peace with each passing day. As Hawkeye grew, we noticed that unlike all the other doves in our yard, he had a double breast with a line dividing it. When I did some research on the doves, I found out that females don’t often coo. “We got it all wrong,” I told Roger. “Hawkeye is a girl!” We realized that we’d have to teach her to fly. First, we urged her to fly from a finger to the bottom rung (梯 子的横档) of a six-foot ladder, and in no time she was moving quickly to the top. She lit out (逃走,溜掉) for the kitchen whenever she heard the click of the spoon on her bowl. By mid-June she’d gained full confidence in her wings. Paragraph 1: At that time, we knew it was time to set our Hawkeye free. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: But one May morning, Hawkeye and the other dove landed on the rooftop. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ 3. At 7:30 a. m. on Christmas Eve 2022, Yvonne White got a call from an unknown number. It was Sha’ Kyra Aughtry, a Buffalo resident who had rescued her brother, Joey White, from a deadly winter storm. Joey, then 64, was mentally disabled. Yvonne had called him just before the storm hit, strictly instructing him not to leave the group home where he lives. He had promised her he would stay put. But as Buffalo’s worst snow storm in almost 50 years struck the city, Joey went outside. It’s unclear what time Joey left home or for what purpose, but Yvonne suspected he walked about 9 miles to North Park Theatre, a single-screen cinema where hehad worked as a doorkeeper since 1980.She believed he got scared and eventually decided to walk back home. At around 6:30 a. m. on Dec.24, Joey ended up in a snowbank directly outside Aughtry’s home. He was wailing and crying out in severe pain. Aughtry went outside and found a stranger, screaming and confused. She went into the storm with her husband, and they carried Joey into their home. Joey had visible signs of severe frostbite: His hands were severely swollen and covered in multicolored blisters and sores. Aughtry used a hair dryer to peel off his clothing, which clung tightly to his shaking body. She also cut off his frozen socks and removed the remnants of a grocery store bag that were stuck to Joey’s hands. After about an hour of trying to warm him up, Aughtry, a mother of three boys, then ages 5, 6 and 13, called up Yvonne. Joey had memorized his sister’s phone number. The women stayed in constant communication from then on. Still, despite all Aughtry had done to treat his wounds, Joey urgently needed medical attention. Getting help seemed impossible, though, with the roads covered with heavy ice and snow. “We called 911 easily 100 times,” Yvonne says. “We tried everything. We were flipping out and crying. It was just getting worse and worse.” Paragraph 1: In a desperate cry for help, Aughtry posted a live video on a local Facebook group. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Above all, though, thanks to the timely medical care, Joey is alive. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 4. It was a Saturday morning as I prepared to take my eight-year-old son, David, to the aquarium. His eyes were widened with excitement, and he chattered non-stop about the sea creatures we would see, the sharks, thedolphins... We boarded the bus, and after a few stops, we made ourselves comfortably seated. David gazed out the window, watching the world go by with wonder. The bus continued its route, and with each stop, it became increasingly crowded. Passengers of varying ages and backgrounds filled the seats. David and I were engaged in a light-hearted conversation about marine life, our anticipation and joy building with each passing minute. As we approached a mid-route bus stop, an elderly lady boarded, her movements labored and her legs visibly unsteady. The bus was full, and for a moment, there was an obvious hesitation among the passengers, each perhaps weighing the social morals against their own comfort. The elderly lady seized her walking aid, swaying slightly with each lurch of the vehicle. Noticing the elderly lady’s struggle, David made a decision. Without a moment’s hesitation, he rose from his seat. His small hand gestured towards the elderly lady. “You can sit here, ma'am,” he said, his voice clear and sincere. The elderly lady’s face transformed with a mixture of surprise and gratitude. “Oh, thank you, boy,” she said, her voice filling up with emotion. David then took her hand gently, helping her navigate through the crowd to the seat he had left for her. With the help of David, the lady eased herself into the seat, her relief evident. I felt pride welling up within me as I watched what David had done. Looking at David, who was standing now, I saw not just the playful child he was known to be, but the empathetic and considerate young man he was growing into. As the bus rolled on, it was filled with renewed warmth among the passengers. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ That evening, as we returned home, I couldn’t help but reflect on the true treasure of the day. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 参考答案 1. I kept writing on the wonderful afternoon. I finished my story when the sunlight was turning golden and streamed through my windows. I got up and showed my “stump story” as well as the prince story to Mom and forcedly admitted that it had helped a lot. Mom explained that sometimes all that I needed to do was something boring but inspiring. I agreed with her because it helped me see that writing about my hero is a lot more fun than writing about that dumb old stump! This experience has taught me a valuable lesson. Writing doesn’t always have to start with a grand idea or a burst of inspiration. Sometimes, it’s about showing up at the blank page and believing that the act of putting pen to paper will guide you to where you need to go. From that day forward, whenever writer’s block threatens to stall my creative flow, I’ll remember the stump story. It has become a reminder that inspiration isn’t always waiting to strike like lightning. Sometimes, it’s cultivated through the simple act of persisting, even if that means writing about something as ordinary as a tree stump in the woods. My heart broke as she watched us through the window. Finally, after several minutes, she flew to the tree and then took off into the sky. I often stared out the back window, hoping to catch just a glimpse of her. “If I could only see her one more time,” I told Roger, “I’d know everything would be okay.” I had nearly given up hope. But one May morning, Hawkeye and the other dove landed on the rooftop. The smaller one bore Hawkeye’s distinctive chest markings. She had not only returned, but she’d also brought her mate with her! They built a nest on the very same branch where Hawkeye had been born. Several weeks later we watched Hawkeye feed her own two babies. And every time she flew into the sky, I felt my own heart fly with her—light and filled with grace. 词汇激活 行为类 ①凝视:stared/gaze fixedly ②放弃:given up/abandon ③饲养/喂养:feed/raise/keep 情绪类 ①悲伤:one’s heart broke/fall into sorrow [高分句型1]. David, who was standing by the window now, caught other passengers’ attention due to his kindness towards the old lady. The passengers, who had been sitting quietly around David and absorbed in their own world, began to express words of compliment and smiles of encouragement to David. It was as if a single act had broken the ice, sparking a chain reaction ofgoodwill. Upon reaching the aquarium, David and I waved goodbye to the passengers, making our way to explore the marine world. That evening, as we returned home, I couldn't help but reflect on the true treasure of the day. It wasn’t the sharks or the dolphins that left me the deepest impression, but the character of my son, which shone as brightly as any sea creature we had seen. David’s act of kindness on the bus had not only made the elderly lady’s journey more comfortable but had also reminded us that the future is in good hands with next generation like him leading the way. It was a day when my son, David, showed the world the true meaning of kindness, which made me really happy. 词汇激活 行为类 ①吸引注意力:catch one’s attention/draw one’sattention/grab one’s attention ②激起:spark/stir/arouse ③到达:reach/get to/arrive at 情绪类 ①赞扬:compliment/praise ②开心:happy/delgihted [高分句型1]David, who was standing by the window now, caught other passengers’ attention due to his kindness towards the old lady.
