They make me think about our responsibility. As a student, study is our priority and we should shoulder the responsibility to complete our studies seriously and do solid work. Only if we are equipped with knowledge can we better serve our country. Meanwhile, we have to grow up with physical and mental health, which is what our beloved parents expect. That’s why we should not shirk any responsibility of love and care. To conclude, I appeal to all the young people to learn from them and shoulder the responsibility. 第二节: Two weeks later, Jenny and Zara landed in Phoenix. Jenny’s family waited at the airport ahead of time and extended warm welcome to them. Jenny’s dad swept Zara up in a giant bear hug. Blood rushing to her face, Zara forced a smile to hide her embarrassment. Back home, Zara was greeted by a variety of delicious food in a harmonious atmosphere. During her stay, Jenny’s family constantly expressed their deep sense of gratitude to Zara for taking care of Jenny in college. Feeling the family’s warmth, Zara began to sob. In between sobs, Zara admitted that she felt so jealous of Jenny because she had never experienced such sincere love from the family. Jenny wiped her tears away and joked “Look! who’s the cry baby now!” Jenny’s mother hugged Zara softly “It’s OK. If you like, we can be a family.” Zara felt the warmth and comfort surging through her body, glowing with great happiness. That weekend, for the first time, Zara experienced the joy of being in the center of a loving family. 1听力材料 Text 1 M: Do you have any pieces of luggage to check in? W: Yes, two suitcases. They are not overweight, are they? M: Yes, they are. They are 10 kilograms over. The weight of the free luggage should not be over 40 kilograms in total. Text 2 M: I’m looking forward to our walk this weekend. W: It looks like we are be lucky. It’s going to rain today and be windy tomorrow, but Saturday and Sunday will be sunny. Text 3 W: Have you ever heard about Wildlife Warriors? M: Yes. It’s a charity that helps protect wildlife around the world. It works together with scientists to study how humans can protect wildlife better. W: It’s asking for donations now. I want to donate some money. Text 4 W: Could you meet me at the McDonald’s near the Oriental Theater? M: All right. I’ll go there by taxi. But I have to return some books at the City Library first. W: In that case, I’ll order us some food and drinks when I get there, OK? Text 5 M: You look tired, Lily? W: Yes. I stayed up nearly all night going over my notes for today’s exam. M: Have you got the result of the exam yet? W: Yes. And unfortunately, my grade could have been much better. Text 6 W: My friend is over the moon these days. M: Why is he “over the moon”? Is your friend an astronaut? W: No, of course not. When I said he’s over the moon, I mean he’s on cloud nine. M: What? Now he’s on cloud nine? So, is he a pilot? W: No. Jason, you really don’t know much English slang. Both of these expressions can be used to show someone is very happy. M: Now I see. So what exactly makes your friend “over the moon” and “on cloud nine”? W: He received a call from the famous movie director Andy De Emmony. He was told he could play the leading role in his new movie Four Kids and It. Text 7 W: Bruce, is that you? M: Yes, Tina. What can I do for you? W: Sorry to disturb you. I ordered a bookshelf online. And it will be delivered soon. My husband is away on business. I’m afraid that I can’t lift it by myself. Could you give me a hand to get it upstairs? M: Of course. Could you just give me a couple of minutes to finish my housework? W: Yes, but please hurry up. The bookshelf will be arriving any minute. By the way, you don’t need 2to prepare lunch today. We can go to the Chinese restaurant around the corner. I’ve heard it’s pretty delicious. It’s on me. M: Oh, thank you very much, but I can’t go there today. My daughter is in high school now, and she needs a new computer. I need to go downtown to buy one for her this afternoon. W: Oh, OK. Maybe we can go to the restaurant another time. M: Sounds good. Anyway, I’ll be there soon. Text 8 W: Would you like to come to Seattle with me over spring break? M: I’d love to, but where can we stay? W: At a friend’s house. I always stay with this friend and there’s room for you too. We’ll just bring sleeping bags and sleep on the floor. M: OK. He won’t mind? W: Of course not. He’s looking forward to meeting you. M: Does he live in downtown Seattle? W: No, in the suburbs. But we’ll have a car, so we can go into the city. M: Will we drive to Seattle? W: Yes, it takes about six hours. We can leave about noon and be there by suppertime. M: Let me help you pay for gas. What other expenses will we have? W: All right. There’ll be four of us going, so we’ll each pay a fourth. There won’t be many other expenses except food. M: Good. Shall we cook together? W: Yes, in this way: you buy food one day, and I’ll buy it another. Text 9 M: Hello, there. You look exhausted. W: Hi. I can’t stop for long. I still have a mile to run. M: A mile? Wow! You really do take fitness seriously. W: Everybody should. Even on rainy days like this. M: I suppose you’re right. I see a lot of very heavy people these days. W: They are harming themselves by eating the wrong things and not doing exercise. M: So how much running do you do? Wouldn’t it be better going to a gym? W: Gyms cost money. I can run for free. Two miles a day, three times a week —it’s an easy routine. M: It doesn’t sound easy to me. I suppose I should do some exercise and get enough sleep as well. I seldom get my full eight hours. W: You really should. M: On the plus side, I’m a healthy eater. I eat plenty of vegetables and just a little meat. W: At least you are making an effort. With a few small changes, you could have a healthy lifestyle. M: You’re right. I can’t do much about my bed time, but from tomorrow I am going to travel to work on my bike. W: Swimming is good exercise as well. M: Maybe I’ll check out the local pool sometime. W: I promise you will feel so much better. Text 10 W: This is the 6 o’clock news for Tuesday 25th November. And first the headlines: The government has promised to help the poor farmers in the northern part of the country who haven’t seen rain for nearly two years. And in Sydney a group of school children are successfully rescued from a plane which landed in the sea shortly after take-off. Transport workers are on strike 3in Melbourne asking for a pay raise. And the strike may spread to other states. Now let’s focus on the school children. They were travelling in a plane from Sydney to Queensland to take part in a musical concert. They found themselves swimming for the shore when their plane had to land in the sea just three minutes after taking off from Sydney Airport. The pilot managed to bring the aircraft and its 50 passengers down safely in the calm waters of Botany Bay where boats were able to come to the rescue of the children. It was a weekend, and there were hundreds of boats in the bay enjoying the good weather. This undoubtedly helped the rescue operation. The children said they owed their lives to the skill of the pilot. But the pilot replied modestly that it was all part of a day’s work. However, all their musical instruments were lost and they never got to play at their concert. 4
