第一节： We Should Shoulder the Responsibility
Nowadays, many young role models have emerged in various fields：post-00s firefighters，
post-00s volunteers, etc. They demonstrate their bravery and ambition, especially, their sense of
responsibility.
They make me think about our responsibility. As a student, study is our priority and we
should shoulder the responsibility to complete our studies seriously and do solid work. Only if we
are equipped with knowledge can we better serve our country. Meanwhile, we have to grow up with
physical and mental health, which is what our beloved parents expect. That’s why we should not
shirk any responsibility of love and care.
To conclude, I appeal to all the young people to learn from them and shoulder the responsibility.

Two weeks later, Jenny and Zara landed in Phoenix. Jenny’s family waited at the airport ahead
of time and extended warm welcome to them. Jenny’s dad swept Zara up in a giant bear hug. Blood
rushing to her face, Zara forced a smile to hide her embarrassment. Back home, Zara was greeted
by a variety of delicious food in a harmonious atmosphere. During her stay, Jenny’s family
constantly expressed their deep sense of gratitude to Zara for taking care of Jenny in college.
Feeling the family’s warmth, Zara began to sob. In between sobs, Zara admitted that she felt so
jealous of Jenny because she had never experienced such sincere love from the family. Jenny wiped
her tears away and joked “Look! who’s the cry baby now!” Jenny’s mother hugged Zara softly “It’s
OK. If you like, we can be a family.” Zara felt the warmth and comfort surging through her body,
glowing with great happiness. That weekend, for the first time, Zara experienced the joy of being in
the center of a loving family.

M: You’re right. I can’t do much about my bed time, but from tomorrow I am going to travel to
work on my bike.
W: Swimming is good exercise as well.
M: Maybe I’ll check out the local pool sometime.

W: This is the 6 o’clock news for Tuesday 25th November. And first the headlines：
The government has promised to help the poor farmers in the northern part of the country who
haven’t seen rain for nearly two years. And in Sydney a group of school children are successfully
rescued from a plane which landed in the sea shortly after take-off. Transport workers are on strike
3in Melbourne asking for a pay raise. And the strike may spread to other states.
Now let’s focus on the school children. They were travelling in a plane from Sydney to
Queensland to take part in a musical concert. They found themselves swimming for the shore when
their plane had to land in the sea just three minutes after taking off from Sydney Airport. The pilot
managed to bring the aircraft and its 50 passengers down safely in the calm waters of Botany Bay
where boats were able to come to the rescue of the children. It was a weekend, and there were
hundreds of boats in the bay enjoying the good weather. This undoubtedly helped the rescue
operation. The children said they owed their lives to the skill of the pilot. But the pilot replied
modestly that it was all part of a day’s work. However, all their musical instruments were lost and
they never got to play at their concert.
