A
(在线英语33)It’s not easy to grow up. Actually, it’s far from easy. Growing up can be a real “pain” for some
of us. We are always doing things that someone else makes us do and aren’t allowed to do all the things we like.
Sometimes we feel trapped, sometimes we are fearful, and sometimes we just don't understand why we can’t stay
young forever. When we look back on all the hardships in life with a positive attitude, we realize that all of our
growing pains actually turn into growing gains!
Throughout our lives we are going to face many challenges and pains, but we should never let these obstacles
keep us from following our dreams. We must overcome every obstacle one small step at a time.
As a young girl my parents forced me to do so many things that I never liked. They made me learn to play the
violin and then the piano. At that time I hated music, just because it was what they wanted me to do. But looking
back now, I am so glad that my parents encouraged me to take music lessons. Music has enriched my life in so
many ways. I realize that my parents and teachers were always pushing me along, not because they wanted me to
suffer but because they wanted me to succeed in life. They’ve always wanted me to have better life than they did
themselves.
Every moment of our lives we are either living or dying, so live life to its fullest! We are all going to
experience growing pains, but they are just small pains in life. They might seem so huge at the time but we must be
strong. Think about how we would feel if we had no fear and live life like that.
The future is ours! A little hard work and sweat never hurt anyone! If we realize that these pains are just small
bumps on our road to success we will realize that our growing pains are actually growing gains!

(2021·全国高三专题练习)The clothes you wear. The food you eat. The color of your bedroom walls.
Where you go and how you get there. The people you hang around with. What time you go to bed. What do these
things have in common? You’re asking. They’re just a few examples of many hundreds of things that your parents
controlled for you when you were a child.
As a kid, you didn’t have a say in very much that went on; your parents made decisions about everything
from the cereal you ate in the morning to the pajamas you wore at night. And it’s a good thing, too-kids need this
kind of protection and assistance because they aren’t mature enough to take care of themselves and make careful
decisions on their own.
But finally, kids grow up and become teens. And part of being a teen is developing your own identity(身份认
同)—one that is separate from your parents’. But as you change and grow into this new person who makes your
own decisions, your parents have a difficult time adjusting(调整).They aren’t used to the new you yet---they only
know you as the kid who had everything decided for you and didn’t mind.
In many families, it is this adjustment that can cause a lot of fighting between teens and parents. And issues
like the type of friends you have or your attitudes to partying can cause bigger quarrels, because your parents still
always want to protect you and keep you safe, no matter how old you are.
The good news about fighting with your parents is that in many families the arguing will lessen as parents get
more comfortable with the idea that their teen has a right to certain opinions. It can take several years for parents
and teens to adjust to their new roles, though. In the meantime, focus on communicating with your parents.
Sometimes this can feel impossible—like they just don’t see your point of view and never will. But talking
and expressing your opinions can help you gain more respect from your parents and you may be able to reach
compromises that make everyone happy. For example, if you are willing to clean your room in order to stay out
an hour later, both you and your parents walk away with a good deal. Keep in mind, too, that your parents were
teens once and that in most cases, they can relate to what you’re going through.
8.In Paragraph 2.the author _______.
A. complains that parents control kids too much B. proves that kids have no right to give their opinions
C. describes how carefully parents look after kids D. explains parents control kids for protection and assistance
9.A lot of fighting breaks out between teens and parents because _______.
A. parents aren’t used to losing control of kids B. teens like to have everything decided for themC. parents get angry at teens not respecting them D. teens are eager to develop their own identity
10.In the author’s opinion, parents control teens in order to _______.
A. prevent them from having their own ideas B. protect them from being hurt
C. make them respect parents in the family D. make sure that children have a good future
11.Which of the following teenagers’ questions does the author try to answer?
A. What do parents control their children for? B. When do parents take care of their children?
C. How do I get rid of my parents’ control? D. Why do I fight with my parents so much?

(2021·新疆高三)I grew up in San Pedro. My Dad was a fisherman, and he loved the sea. He worked hard
and would stay out until he caught enough to feed the big family. When you got close to him, he smelled like the
ocean.
When the weather was bad he would drive me to school. He had an old tuck that he used in his fishing
business. That truck was older than he was. It would wheeze and rattle down the road. You could hear it coning for
blocks. As he would drive toward the school, I would shrink down into the seat hoping to disappear. He would pull
right up in front, and it seemed like everybody would be standing around and watching. Then he would lean over
und give me a big kiss on the cheek and tell me to be a good boy. It was so embarrassing for me.
One day, I decided I was too old for a goodbye kiss. When we got to the school, he started to lean toward me,
but I put my hand up and said. “No, Dad.” He had this surprised look on his face. I said, “Dad, I’m too old for a
goodbye kiss.” My Dad looked at me for the longest, time, and his eyes started to tear up. I had never seen him cry.
He turned his head and said. “You’re right. You are a big boy… a man. I won’t kiss you anymore.” The tears began
to well up in, his eyes, as he spoke.
It wasn’t long after that when my Dad went to sea and never came back. It was a bad day when most of the
fleet stayed in, but Dad insisted on going. He had a big family to feed.
How I wish I could have, my Dad give me just one more kiss on the cheek to feel his rough old face to smell
the ocean on him to feel his arm around my neck. I wish I had been a man then. If I had been a man, I would never
have told my Dad I was too old for a goodbye kiss.

(2021·云南昆明市高三三模)How to Show Maturity
Sometimes it’s fun to be a kid, but other times you want to show that you can be mature. Maturity can be a
signpost of moving from childhood to adulthood. 1 Maturity is not a set of rules or expectations, but it is
a concept. Here are some ways to help you become mature.
●Live by your values. Maturity includes making decisions based on your values and morals, instead of what
feels good at the moment. 2 Let your character master your desires. Show people that you are willing to
live out your values, even if it presents minor inconveniences to you.
● 3 When you were younger, your schedule was made for you: you went to school or sports or
dance. Now, you may have more ability to make your own schedule. When you say you will do something, do it.
Even if it isn’t your idea of fun, show people that they can count on you and that you are reliable.
●Treat people with respect. Respect builds trust and support in a relationship. Make sure you treat others with
the same respect, whether it is your parents, friends or romantic partner. 4
●Admit your disadvantages. 5 Don’t blame other people for the problems in your life. All
relationships are interactional, meaning that you both contribute to how you feel and what happens. It's much easier
to blame people for how bad you feel, but recognize your role, and take responsibility for your actions.
A. Keep your commitments.
B. This is a very mature action.
C. Reflect on what makes you active.
D. Allow your values to guide your life.
E. Respect others with both your actions and your words.
F. A good way to learn respect is to first respect yourself.
G. It can include intellectual, emotional and even spiritual aspects.三、完形填空

写作(二)
(2020·湖北高三期中)阅读下面短文,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一个完整的
故事。
Boys like to be considered to be brave, but what kind of things can be considered to be brave? It is not a
question that can be answered by words, but by the actual deed.
A boy with the name Henry gave us a good example. Ronny and Henry were two friends in the same
class. They always played together and went home together. One day as Ronny and Henry were going home after
school, they saw some people fighting in the street corner.Ronny said excitedly, “Some people are fighting!
Let’s go and have a look!” But Henry refused. “ It’s none of our business. We’d better go home and don’t get
close to them. Also our parents are expecting to have dinner with us together at home and I don’t want them to
worry about me.”
“You are a coward(懦夫), and afraid to go,” said Ronny, and off he ran to the spot with some other boys.
Henry had to go home alone and didn’t think about it anymore.
But Ronny thought Henry was a coward and told all the boys that. They laughed at him a great deal. From
then on,they looked down upon Henry and didn’t want to play with him.
Henry was sad but he wasn’t angry with Ronny for his rude behavior, because he had learned that true
courage was shown most in bearing misunderstanding when it was not deserved, and that he ought to be afraid of
nothing but doing wrong. Thus, he just ignored the other boys’ laughter and continued to stick to his thought and
go to school and study as well. However, Ronny didn't invite Henry to go home with him anymore. Instead, he
had his new friends who also thought Henry was a coward. Every day after school, they didn't go home directly
but went to the river or somewhere to play games and had lots of fun.
