entered.“Color schemes(方案) are the most important.Light green is really right now，” said
Fashion Patrol number 1.Fashion Patrol number 2 nodded，“Let’s get light green balloons！”
“What about my soccer idea？” said Avery.“The cake could be shaped like a soccer ball
and...”
“I’ll wear my light green skirt，” Fashion Patrol number 3 broke in.
“Why does everybody keep ignoring my card idea？” I asked.
“I’d like to see the skirt，” said Fashion Patrol number 1.“I need to make sure it’s the
right shade of green.”
Then the bell rang and the party discussion ended.I felt sad.It was going to be a “light
green” party run by the Fashion Patrol，and Ms Lopez wouldn’t even know we’d missed her.
When I entered my house after school，my little brother and sister were arguing about a board
game.
“I know the rules！” shouted Tex.“You don’t have to start over if you land on blue！”
“I know the rules！” shouted Indi.“You get an extra spin if you get the cherries！”
I walked over to where they were playing and said，“If you’d stop and listen to each
other，you might realize you’re both right.” I read them the rules they’d been arguing
about.“We are both right! Thank you，Zona，” said Indi.“Actually，I should thank you
two！” I smiled.“You just made me realize something.”

plan.Fashion Patrol number 1 immediately said that they had figured it out.However，Noah
strongly disagreed.Seeing them arguing endlessly，I said，“If we stopped and listened to each
other，we might realize we can figure more out than we think.” Ms G nodded and suggested we
try the soccer theme first.She asked whoever wanted to talk to say something about the theme in
two minutes while the rest of us listened.
The discussion centred on a specific theme really worked！Once we learned to listen to eachother，we were able to change and reach an agreement.The following week，we had a great
welcome back party for Ms Lopez—with fun music，a delicious soccer ball cake，and light green
balloons.Some students wore light green clothes，and some made welcome back cards.But the
very best part of all was the bright smile on Ms Lopez’s face when she saw how much we cared
for her.
