36 It stands for artificial intelligence (人工智能).
In the past few years, the AI technology has developed very fast. 37 AI writing tools use natural
language processing (处理) and machine learning to create stories at lightning speed (速度).
Nowadays AI writing has two big advantages. First, its quality and fidelity (质量和逼真度) are getting
better, much closer to human-like levels, though it is still far from perfect. 38
However, every new thing comes with two sides, and AI writing is no exception. It can also bring some

六、阅读理解
A
This year, my friend Mareya and I decided to be “resolution partners” and write our resolutions together. We
made a list of things each of us would do every single day:
“Of course, we’ll have to set our alarms an hour earlier to manage to finish everything in a day,” said
Mareya.
The next morning, when I walked into the kitchen at 5:45, my dad was so surprised to see me. I handed him
the list. “From now on, I’m waking up early.”
“This is a lot to do in every day,” he said, as he looked over the list.
“I already did resolution number 1,” I said, showing off my braids (发辫). “Now I’m making cookies before
school for the second resolution.” When I arrived at school, Mareya enjoyed my cookies so much.
“What are you two eating?” Tyrone asked when lunchtime came.
“I have an egg, spinach (菠菜), orange, and onion sandwich,” I answered. “And I have a tuna, broccoli,
tomato, and banana wrap,” said Mareya.
“Do those things actually taste good?” Miguel asked.
Mareya took the list out of her pocket and explained, “Resolution number 3 says our lunch has to be healthy,
not necessarily delicious.”
“Speaking of resolutions,” I said to Mareya, “if we’re still going to finish number 4 before the bell rings,
we’d better hurry.” Luckily, we managed to read our chapters. Unluckily, we both had lots of homework in the
afternoon, so we didn’t have time to do something big to help the planet.
“Well,” said Mareya, “I guess if we’re going to have time for everything on our list, we’re going to have to
wake up even earlier.” “Earlier?!” I shouted. “I can hardly stay awake now.”
But I couldn’t let my resolution partner down, so we agreed to set our alarms half an hour earlier. Even with
much more time, though, it was hard to finish everything. When we had to discuss our book reports, we were

That afternoon, Mareya and I decided to make up a whole NEW New Year’s resolution list. It was shorter,
simpler, and, best of all, doable:
1.Try to eat healthily.
2.Try not to waste water, electricity, paper, or
plastic.
3.Try to be kind.
Of course, we still like to make foods and try new hairstyles, but not every day. And we are still hoping to do
something big to help the planet, but that will take more planning.
So here’s my one resolution tip: ___________!
51.Which is the correct order of the resolutions from 1 to 5 on the first list?
① Make a delicious food. ② Wear a cool new hairstyle. ③ Eat a super-healthy lunch.
④ Do something big to help the planet. ⑤ Read a chapter in a book.
A.③④①②⑤ B.②①③⑤④ C.③②④①⑤ D.②③⑤④①
52.Why did the writer and Mareya make a new resolution list on Friday?
A.They still wanted to wake up early every day.
B.They wanted to have more time for homework.
C.They realized they were not good at keeping resolutions.
D.They found it hard to complete everything on their first list in a day.
53.Which of the following should be put into __________?

54.What’s the best title for the passage?

B
It is time for New Year’s resolutions every January. Will you eat healthier, exercise more and read more
books?
For many of us, these wishes feel familiar (熟悉的). Around this January, we made the same resolutions. We
started with strong willpower (意志力). But a few weeks later, we became lazy again. When the alarm went off in
the morning, we pressed the snooze button once, twice, then three times. Our beds were so warm and comfortable
that we just didn’t want to get out. Running? It was out of the question.
Will we give up on our New Year’s resolutions again? How can we prevent that?

学科网(北京)股份有限公司Jay Van Bavel and Dominic Packer are two psychology professors (心理学教授). They advise us to form
“resolution groups.” Van Bavel and Packer make New Year’s resolutions every year. Like many of us, they usually
fail to keep them, but they have one exception. A few years ago, they decided to write a book together. After they
made the decision, they started to have weekly meetings. Every weekend, they met in coffee shops to write together
and discuss their writings. They wrote their plans in a shared document (文档) and read them out loud at each
meeting. “When we know our friends are expecting us to keep our resolutions, we try our best to keep them, even if
it’s hard,” Packer says.
After making New Year’s resolutions, why don’t you join a group? You could start a running group with
friends, or a reading club with your classmates. Being part of a group will help you make real progress.

Imagine you wake up one day and decide to build yourself a house. Then how would you begin the task
which seems very difficult? Just go for it without any ideas in mind? Or make a plan carefully, and take actions
according to it?
Many people have goals, but without a plan for achieving them, 92% of them will finally fail. The 8% who
succeed understand “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
Planning prevents you from wasting your time on unnecessary work. It helps you pay attention to the work at
hand, which helps you feel more in control. Once you have a plan, you’ll be surprised at how much you’re able to
finish in a certain time and you start to understand yourself more clearly.
How can we make a plan? First, you have to write down your goal. It gives you the basic information about
what you are going to do. Second, you can begin by picturing your goal. You may see it in your mind, then feel it
and try it. Last but not least, record your progress as you may need to make some changes to your plan during the
process.
Do you have the skills you need to reach your goal? If not, can you realize it? When will you fulfill (实现)
your goal? Setting a final time drives you to act now, before it’s too late.
58.What does the underlined word “It” refer to?
A.Planning. B.Action. C.Progress. D.Dreaming.
59.What’s the good point of making a plan according to Paragraph 3?
A.It can give you a result. B.It saves your time.
C.It controls everything. D.It makes you active.
