One possible version:
My First Two Months: a New Start
My first two months in high school have been a journey of stepping out of my comfort zone. The most
significant experience was joining the English debate club. Despite my fear of public speaking, I pushed myself to
take part in our first team practice.
That experience turned out a true challenge. I had to do quick research, organize my thoughts, and speak
confidently in front of others. My new teammates were very supportive. They shared their notes and encouraged
me when I felt nervous.
This taught me an important lesson about personal growth: our true potential often lies just beyond our fears.
Now, I understand that high school isn’t just about grades; it’s about getting along with others and becoming a
braver version of yourself.
听力原文:
Text 1
M: Have you seen Jack?
W: He went to the supermarket to buy some vegetables. What’s wrong?
M: Someone from his company called him and asked him to go to the factory this afternoon.
Text 2
W: Ben, who bought you the new cell phone, your mother or father?
M: Neither. My brother gave it to me as a gift of my birthday. I really like it.
Text 3
M: It’s raining all of a sudden. I was supposed to play football.
W: Well, you can finish the novel you loved. That’ll be fun, too.
M: Maybe I could help you cook.
Text 4
M: We’ll have a three-day holiday. I plan to visit my grandparents in the countryside. What about you?
W: I want to invite my best friend to watch a movie and swim together.
Text 5
W: Oh, dear. It took me an hour to get here. The traffic jam nearly drove me crazy.
M: You’re lucky this morning. The ship was put off for 35 minutes. It will leave at eight thirty. Please check in.
Text 6
M: Good morning, Mrs. Clark. I am sorry, but I am going to be absent from your class. I need to go to the airport to
pick up a friend.
W: Are you planning on having someone take notes for you?
M: Yes, I’ve got that part covered.
W: When do you need to leave?
M: I don’t have to leave until the very end of all the morning’s classes. After lunch, to be exact.
W: Fine, but next time try not to miss any class again. Or you will lose some points.
Text 7
W: Wow, Tom, this skirt you are drawing is really beautiful! I didn’t know you are good at drawing.
M: Yeah. Actually, I designed it all by myself. I’m interested in fashion things.
W: Oh, really? You’ve got a great talent! So do you draw every day?
M: Not really. I usually draw every weekend at home. You know, study still comes first from Monday to Friday.
W: I see. So I guess your dream is to be a designer, right?
M: Well, that’s just a part of it. I can do more.
W: Really? What are your other plans?
M: Er, I will study designing in college. After graduating, I want to develop my own business and sell the clothes I
design. But there is still a long way to go.
Text 8
M: Good afternoon. What can I do for you?
W: It is becoming cold. I am looking for sweaters for my husband and my son.
M: What kind of sweaters do they like to have, woolen or cotton?
W: Woolen, please.
M: What do you think of the brown one for your husband and the green one for your son?
W: I think the brown one for my husband is OK. But my son doesn’t like green. In fact, I like green very much, I
think green makes me look lively.
M: I think so. But anyway, everyone is different. We should respect others’ likes and dislikes. Maybe your son
likes white or blue ... How about the blue one?
W: Yeah. He likes blue very much. How much do they cost?
M: Two hundred dollars for the brown one and one hundred and fifty dollars for the blue one.
W: Okay, I’ll take them.
Text 9
M: Good morning, Kelly.
W: Hi, Jim. Good morning. Do you also like running in the morning?
M: Yeah. I had to prepare for a long-distance race in high school, so I ran every day. And then I kept the habit.
How about you?
W: I am a little earlier, starting from junior high, to keep healthy, you know. But now it’s more like a hobby.
M: It’s a wonderful thing to have a healthy hobby. By the way, what would you like to do tonight? I heard there is a
new movie on, would you like to see it together?
W: Sounds great. When will it start?
M: Let me check. It will be on at 8 o’clock, lasting for about an hour and a half.
W: Oh. Then I have to ask my mom when she will be back from my grandparents’. She lost her key at
home and my father always works overtime. So I have to open the door for her.
M: OK. I’ll wait for your call then.
W: OK.
Text 10
I once worked in a professional training company. My job was outside, so much of the time I was working on
the street, standing, and there was a lot of sun and occasional rain. My job was to interview as many people as
possible and fill in at least 30 surveys within 6 hours. The lunch went well fast. The boss said we had only 15
minutes for lunch. Not all people wanted to work together with me and respond to the survey.
I was in a square near a bus station, which was the busiest place in town on Saturdays. I saw a young man
sitting on a bench. I spoke to him and he agreed to answer my survey. The guy appeared to be very young and he
was a worker in a company nearby. Suddenly he took a bag and offered me an apple. I was quite surprised and I
thanked him.
He saw that I worked hard and he unselfishly gave a gift to a stranger. A simple gift but that was from the
heart. I am very happy to still see simple and selfless people these days.
