When I was a child, I often dreamed of the time when I could leave home and
escape to the city. We lived on a farm, in the winter especially, we wear quite out off
from the outside world. As soon as I left school, I packed my bags and moved to the
capital. However, I soon discovered that my life has its too.
One big disadvantage is money. It costs so much to go out, not to mention
basics like food and housing. Another disadvantage is pollution. I suffer from asthma(哮
喘), and the air is so that I am afraid to go outside. Then there is the problem of
traveling round. Although I have a car, I seldom use it became of the traffic jams. One
choice is to go by bicycle, but that can be quite dangerous.
Of course there are advantages. First, there is so much to do in the city,
whatever you tastes in culture or entertainment(娱乐活动). Besides, there are wonderful
jobs and greater chances of moving to a more important job or position. Finally, if you
like shopping, the variety of goods is very surprising --- and , what is more, shops are
often only a short walk away.
Is life better then, in the city? Perhaps it is , when you are in your teens(十几

peace of the countryside may seem preferable. I certainly hope to move back there
soon.

Some people think that as more and more people have televisions in their
homes, fewer and fewer people will buy books and newspapers. Why read an article in
the newspaper, when the TV news can bring you the information in a few minutes and
with pictures? Why read the life story of a famous man, when a short television
program can tell you all that you want to know?
    Television

  reading,

  however

. Today, newspapers sell in very large
numbers. And books of every kind are sold more than ever before. Books are still a
cheap way to get information and enjoyment. Although some books with hard covers
are expensive, many books are printed today as paperbacks (平装本), which are quite
cheap. A paperback collection of short stories, for example, is always cheaper than an
evening at the cinema or the theater, and you can keep a book for ever and read it
many times.
Books are a wonderful provider of knowledge and pleasure and some types of
books should be in every home. Every home should have a good dictionary. A good
encyclopedia ( 百科全书), though expensive, is useful, too, because you can find
information on any subject. Besides, you can have such books as history books., science

can take a book of poems off your shelves and read the thoughts and feelings of your
favorite poets.

One possible version
Dear David,
I’m glad that you’ve noticed our efforts directed towards environmental protection. Thank
you for your concern.
As too much use of plastic bags has caused serious white pollution, our government
encourages us to use environment-friendly shopping bags. These bags are made of a variety of
material that can be easily treated when they become rubbish. Besides, they can be reused.
More and more people in China have realized the advantages of such bags and started using
them.
I believe that the wide use of these shopping bags can greatly improve our environment.
This is one of the many steps we are to make our country an even cleaner place.

其中选项A. little 和D. none 具否定含义,
与上文…getting on very well 相矛盾,故应排除;选项C.some 用作代词,意思是“少许;少数;
23.【答案与简析】C。本题考查动词与介词的搭配。“sink into sth”意思是“渗入,陷入,沉入;
into one’s mind(教训等)铭记在某人心中,sink into the sea 沉入海中,sink into a deep sleep 沉
睡。
(Preserving endangered languages)。
选项A.Have I?是Have I been accepted as a
member of our club?
B.Pardon?用于请求别人重复说过的话;选项C.Congratulations!
项D.Good idea!
饰先行词this family,;选项A.why 作关系副词只能修饰先行词the reason;选项C 和D 是关
27.【答案与简析】A。本题考查副词。四个副词的意思分别是skillfully 巧妙地, 技术好地;
程度,修饰go with a new teacher。
While he was walking in the fields on a March afternoon。选项A.To walk 不
谓语动词(feel the warmth of spring)之前,显然不合题意。
然;if only 要是……多好;so long as 只要;every time 每次,每当。
【解题思路】now that 表示原因;if only 后一般跟虚拟语气,表示一种愿望;so long as 表示条
She seldom, if ever, goes to the cinema. If busy 根据题意,是If I am busy 的省略,
Joe isn’t a bad boy. If
anything, he’s a pretty good one.
【解题思路】这四个选项都是相应的状语从句省略而来,其中if ever, if anything, if possible 已
carry on 继续;get back 返回(取回,收回);break
36. A。guide-book in hand
38. D。special
40. C。
41. A。look at 在本题中有“考虑,判断”的意思,look at …as a whole 意思是“从整体上看”。
The road runs along the river
bank.
45. C。in any other way 以其它方式

48. C。the original design of a town
49. A。what it used to look like 城市过去的样子,与上文the original design of a town 相响应。
时间和地点,与上文the original design of a town 和what it used to look like 没有联系;选项B
52. A。 Begin your work now. There’s no point in wasting
time.
54. D。personal 亲自的,亲身的,与上一句里的visiting and seeing a town with one’s own eyes

do good to health. Climbing attracts people because it’s good exercise for almost everyone.
The most difficult is to control you fear.
66. B。 Climbing attracts people because it’s good exercise for almost

charges are at least $ 5, 000 a year.
One day, while my friend and I was traveling through 76 were
Germany, we were not very hungry but we only had a little 77 not
money. We decided ^ stop at a village market to buy 78 _ to

I asked. “Because they’re dog biscuits!” She said. 85. √
过渡词或过渡句,如to begin with, next, besides, what’s more, as a result 等等。
