第 二 部 分阅读理解(61—90 题,每题 1 分,共 30 分)
下面有 五 篇短文,每篇短文后有若干个问题。请根据短文内容,从每题给出的四个选项中选出一个正确选项。
Passage One
China is preparing for one of its largest graduate cohorts on record. An estimated 12.7 million students are expected to graduate from regular colleges and universities in 2026, 480,000 more than a year earlier, while registration for the national college entrance examination reached 12.9 million. The numbers frame the central task of this year's employment work: finding jobs at scale for young people entering the labour market.
Policy responses have been wide-ranging. The human resources and finance ministries jointly issued a notice of 16 policy measures for the employment of graduates and other young people in 2026, covering job subsidies, skills training and support for those still searching. Officials also promote 'visiting enterprises to expand job channels', matching students with recruiters before graduation. Private firms remain the mainstay, generating more than 80 percent of urban jobs.
The push is not only about headcount. The gross enrollment ratio in higher education stands at 61.3 percent, and 270 million people have received higher education, while vocational education supplies more than 70 percent of the high-quality, high-skilled talent newly added to modern industries. Universities have widened access through the expansion of quality undergraduate enrollment, adding 62,000 places in 'double first-class' institutions over the past three years. For 12.7 million graduates, the season ahead will test how quickly schooling and hiring can be aligned.

Passage Two
China officially entered its flood season on April 1, and forecasts point to more extreme weather than usual: heavy rain across northern regions, and typhoons making landfalls that are more frequent, stronger and likelier to push inland. The warning is backed by a harsh record. In the first half of 2026, natural disasters affected 17.276 million people nationwide, left 155 dead or missing, and caused direct economic losses of 42.14 billion yuan; rainfall averaged 284.1 millimeters, 2.3 percent above the long-term average, with 14 regional rainstorm events. July alone brought 16.729 million affected people and 57.15 billion yuan in losses.
Workplace safety is improving alongside. In the first quarter, 3,258 accidents were reported nationwide, killing or leaving missing 3,122 people, down 26.7 percent and 22.7 percent year on year respectively; no exceptionally serious accident occurred.
Under the State Council's 15th Five-Year Plan for a modern emergency system, issued in May 2026, the government aims to establish a prevention-first governance model by 2030 and a system suited to basic modernization by 2035. Targets include a 15 percent drop in workplace-safety deaths, a 16 percent fall in major accidents, a 33 percent decline in the accident fatality rate per unit of GDP, and annual natural-disaster losses below 0.8 percent of GDP.
Preparations are already in motion. Each province is to ready 10,000 personnel for cross-province reinforcement, more than 90 aircraft, and drainage capacity of about 200,000 cubic meters per hour; specialized engineering rescue forces of 550 are routinely deployed in 11 key areas, rising to 2,200 once the main flood season arrives. Ahead of Typhoon Bailihai, which struck Zhejiang on August 9, neighboring Fujian relocated 98,900 people from hazardous areas.

Passage Three
At the end of 2025, life expectancy at birth in China reached 79.25 years, and the national health plan issued in July 2026 sets a target of 80 years by 2030, which would place major health indicators among high-income countries. More than 90 percent of residents can reach their nearest medical facility within 15 minutes — a '15-minute medical circle' built on 1.055 million primary-level institutions out of 1.108 million medical and health institutions in total, the most complete service system in the world.
Primary care is carrying more weight: 52.6 percent of consultations now take place at the primary level, above 50 percent for a fourth consecutive year, out of nearly 10.6 billion visits a year, of which traditional Chinese medicine accounts for about 20 percent. Basic medical insurance coverage has held above 95 percent, health literacy has risen to 33.69 percent, and the premature mortality rate from major chronic diseases has fallen to 14.3 percent.
Resources are being pushed downward. The country has launched 70 demonstration projects for public hospital reform, allows mutual recognition of more than 200 items of test and examination results within cities, and provides free HPV vaccination to 13-year-old girls in every province. Local practice shows the model works: in Enshi, Hubei, county-level treatment rates have stayed above 90 percent for three years, with primary institutions handling 76 percent of visits; in Gaomi, Shandong, more than 70 percent of patients first consult a clinic after 450 village clinics were upgraded. The plan also raises per-capita medical insurance subsidies by 24 yuan and basic old-age pensions by 20 yuan.
73. What was China's life expectancy at birth at the end of 2025?
A. 77.25 years
B. 80 years
C. 33.69 years
D. 79.25 years
74. What share of consultations takes place at primary-level institutions?

D. becoming heavier physically
76. What does the example of Enshi suggest?
A. County hospitals have closed
B. Rural patients prefer traveling far for care
C. Strong primary care can keep most treatment within the county
D. HPV vaccination has failed there
77. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Building a 15-minute medical circle through stronger primary care
B. The history of traditional Chinese medicine
C. How to train specialists in big cities
D. Building more than 100 hospitals in cities
78. Free HPV vaccination is provided to ________.
A. senior citizens
B. 13-year-old girls
C. pregnant women
D. all women over 18
Passage Four
A new plan released by the General Administration of Sport sets a headline target: the national sports industry is to exceed 7 trillion yuan in total value by 2030, up from 3.8 trillion yuan in 2024, which implies compound annual growth of 10.52 percent. The ambition mirrors a global market estimated at about 2.3 trillion dollars in 2025 and projected to reach 3.7 trillion dollars by 2030.
Much of the energy comes from home-grown events. Since the start of 2026, Rongjiang's Village Super League in Guizhou has fielded 137 rural teams and staged more than 520 matches, while its companion village galas attracted about 5.06 million visitor-trips in six months, up 7.2 percent year on year. Jiangsu's amateur league logged 9.15 billion yuan in sales among 1,000 key monitored enterprises across its first 16 rounds, up 8 percent, with combined attendance of 53.32 million visits. The inaugural Northeast Super League final drew 63,259 spectators, a record for an amateur football match in China.
Premium events command premium crowds. The 2026 China Open, extended to a four-week window for the first time, drew more than 270,000 visits, 37 percent more than a year earlier, and venue spending passed 32 million yuan by October 4. Economists note a consumption multiplier of one to seven — every yuan of ticket income can stir more than seven yuan of related spending — which explains why cities now compete to host. The plan calls for improving the competition and performance industry chain and building an ecosystem around home-grown event IP.
79. What total value is the national sports industry targeted to reach by 2030?
A. 10.52 trillion yuan
B. 3.8 trillion yuan
C. 7 trillion yuan
D. 2.3 trillion dollars
80. What was the total value of the national sports industry in 2024?
A. 7 trillion yuan
B. 2.3 trillion yuan
C. 3.7 trillion dollars
D. 3.8 trillion yuan
81. Which of the following is NOT mentioned in the passage?
A. A four-week window for the 2026 China Open
B. A government cap on ticket prices
C. 137 rural teams in the Village Super League
D. A consumption multiplier of one to seven
82. The phrase 'a consumption multiplier of one to seven' means ________.
A. seven out of ten fans buy merchandise
B. tickets cost seven yuan each
C. every yuan of ticket income can trigger more than seven yuan of related consumption
D. cities earn seven yuan in tax per event
83. It can be inferred that cities compete to host events because ________.
A. amateur football is banned elsewhere
B. stadiums are standing empty otherwise
C. the plan forces them to do so
D. hosting can multiply local spending and demand
84. What is the passage mainly about?
A. How policy targets and home-grown events drive the sports industry
B. The history of the China Open
C. How to build stadiums
D. Why Chinese football clubs lose money
Passage Five
In 2026, China's summer grain harvest reached 301.49 billion jin (about 150.7 million tonnes), the first time above the 300-billion-jin mark, 2.0 billion jin more than a year earlier, an increase of 0.7 percent. Per-mu yield rose 3.2 kilograms to 378.8 kilograms, while sown area stayed broadly stable at 398 million mu; of 25 summer-grain producing regions, 22 posted gains. Early rice output came in at 56.58 billion jin, stable above 56 billion jin for a sixth straight year.
The foundation lies in land and technology. China has built more than 1 billion mu of high-standard farmland, and home-bred crop varieties account for over 95 percent of sown area — the essence of the saying that grain is stored in the land and the technology. The 15th Five-Year Plan targets a comprehensive grain production capacity of about 1.45 trillion jin, while the red line of 180 million mu of farmland cannot be crossed.
Seed science is doing its part. Anti-sprouting varieties such as 'Kenmai 58' have reached yields as high as 636.4 kilograms per mu, and Dezhou in Shandong, home to the country's first large-scale 'ton-and-a-half per mu' demonstration area, harvests more than 1.5 tonnes of wheat and maize combined each year. Central finance allocated 1.331 billion yuan to support disaster-defying spraying for the autumn grain, which typically accounts for three quarters of annual output and keeps the yearly total above the 1.4-trillion-jin threshold.
85. What was the 2026 summer grain output?
A. 56.58 billion jin
B. 1.45 trillion jin
C. 301.49 billion jin
D. 300 billion jin
86. How much high-standard farmland has China built?
A. 180 million mu
B. 398 million mu
C. 1.4 trillion mu
D. More than 1 billion mu
87. It can be inferred that home-bred varieties accounting for over 95 percent of sown area shows ________.
A. China relies largely on its own seed supply
B. sown area has been shrinking
C. foreign seeds are cheaper
D. China imports most of its seeds
88. The saying 'grain is stored in the land and the technology' in paragraph two refers to ________.
A. selling grain abroad
B. relying on farmland quality and seed know-how to secure output
C. storing grain in warehouses only
D. reducing the sown area
89. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Why wheat prices rise in winter
B. How to import foreign seeds
C. The history of rice cultivation
D. How land, seeds and policy underpin China's grain security
90. The autumn grain typically accounts for ________ of annual grain output.
A. three quarters
B. nearly all
C. one quarter
D. one half

China's Innovative Drugs Go Global
For decades, Western pharmaceutical executives viewed China mainly as a vast market that consumed other people's patents rather than producing its own. That assumption is being overturned with startling speed. In the first half of 2026, Chinese drugmakers signed out-licensing deals with overseas partners worth nearly 110 billion US dollars — about eight-tenths of the total for the whole of 2025, which stood at 135.655 billion dollars, and more than double the figure for all of 2024. Upfront payments, once a token gesture, have grown into serious money, a sign that global buyers are paying for scientific promise rather than charity. In the words of one industry observer, the flow has reversed: instead of China buying licences from the West, the world is starting to buy Chinese science.
The quality shift is equally striking. In the first half of 2026, the national drug regulator approved 38 innovative drugs, and all eleven of those based on new targets or new mechanisms were homegrown. Since the start of the year, 59 innovative drugs and 51 innovative medical devices have reached the market, thirteen of them first-in-class. Chinese researchers registered more than 2,900 clinical trials for new drugs in 2025, up 18 percent year on year, and won approval for 76 Class 1 innovative drugs. Regulatory reform has kept pace: the review timeline for clinical-trial applications has been cut from 60 working days to 30. At the 2026 annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, 94 Chinese studies were selected for oral sessions and twelve made the late-breaking abstract session — record highs on both counts.
Chinese firsts have piled up along the way: the world's first bispecific-antibody antibody-drug conjugate, the first CAR-T therapy for solid tumors, and the first double-antibody ADC designed for nasopharyngeal carcinoma — breakthroughs that Western majors once assumed would emerge only in their own laboratories. Twenty-one pharmaceutical manufacturers have been upgraded into smart factories of the highest grade, and more than 300 green factories have been cultivated across the industry.
Sales are following the science. From January 1, 2026, the National Reimbursement Drug List added 114 drugs, fifty of them Class 1 innovations, while the first commercial insurance innovative-drug list covered 19 products targeting oncology, rare diseases and Alzheimer's disease. In the first half of 2026, value added in the pharmaceutical industry above the designated size grew 6.4 percent, and export delivery value rose 9 percent, with high-value-added products approaching one-fifth of the total. Hengrui Pharmaceutical's innovative-drug revenue reached 4.526 billion yuan in the first quarter, up 25.75 percent and, for the first time, accounting for more than 60 percent of its total drug income. BeiGene reported its first full-year profit in 2025.
Foreign competitors have taken notice. Stefan Erlich, who heads Bayer's prescription pharmaceuticals business worldwide, has called China a source of innovation for global biopharma rather than a mere workshop. Policymakers, meanwhile, have built a chain of support: the June 2025 measures on the high-quality development of innovative drugs first proposed a commercial insurance catalogue; the December 2025 catalogues put the idea into practice; and a revised implementing regulation of the Drug Administration Law took effect in May 2026. Skeptics caution that follow-and-copy habits die hard and that pricing pressure may squeeze returns. Yet the direction of travel is clear. Having spent a decade learning from the world, Chinese medicine is increasingly what the world comes to learn.
