tell you a lot about the word:the pronunciation,the part of speech,the Chinese meaning and
also how to use this word. But how can you know where the word is in thousands of English
words? How to find it in the dictionary both quickly and correctly?First,all the English
words are arranged in alphabetical order. In the dictionary you can first see the words
beginning with the letter A,then B,C,D,E…That means,if there are two
words“desert”and“pull”,“desert”will be certainly before“pull”.Then if there are
two words both beginning with the same letter,you may look at the second letter. Then
the third,the fourth,…For example,“ pardon” is before
“plough”,“judge”before“just”,etc.Do you understand how to look up a word in a
dictionary? The dictionary will be your good friend.I hope you’ll use it as often as possible

Last Saturday our class went to the zoo as part of our science project. We had a great time
on the school trip.
We left on the school bus at 8:30 and arrived an hour later. We all wanted to see the dolphin
show at l0:00 first,but eventually we went to look at the elephants first,because it was too
crowded at the dolphin show. And watching the elephants was also part of our project. So we
changed our schedule.
At 11:00,the dolphin show began again and it lasted 30 minutes.The performance
was so wonderful that we were all happy and applauded loudly. Then we had a drink.We were
very thirsty after visiting for such a long time.We walked around the zoo to see many other
animals before lunch at 12:30.Lunch was fun because we had it with some monkeys.My
friends said they were my cousins!After lunch,we had two hours to have a rest and at 3:00
we went back on the bus.It took an hour to get back to the school.
