W:Hi,John.I haven’t seen you for a few weeks.
M:Oh,hi,Mary. I’ve been studying a lot for my final exam.
W:Well,the term is almost over now.
M:Yes.My brother is coming for a visit this summer, and we’d like to see some of the
country. But traveling is so expensive.
W:Have you thought of camping?
M:Camping? I have never done that.
W:I think you’ll really like it. It’s much cheaper than staying at a hotel. And being close to
nature is a good way to forget about our school for a while.
M:What a good idea!We can go by bike until we find a nice place and just camp.Text 8
M:Welcome back!I didn’t see you in the math class on Friday.
W:I wasn’t here on Friday. My class went on a field trip to look at some of the different rock
formations here in California. Our last stop was Death Valley. In fact,we camped there last
night.
M:Death Valley!But that’s desert. Wasn’t it much too hot for camping?
W:No,not really.It gets hot during the day, but it cools off very quickly at night.
M:Well,did you enjoy the trip?
W:Yes,very much.The desert is nicer than you thought. You really should go and see it some
time.

W:Well,good morning,Tom.I haven’t seen you for a long time.What seems to be the
trouble now?
M:I feel very tired. I’ve a bad headache. And I can’t sleep well almost every night.
W:Have you been eating properly? Eating the right kind of food is important for your health,you
know.
M:Well,I haven’t been eating too well,I guess. I have a lot of work to do and I usually only
have enough time to have a sandwich and a cup of coffee for lunch.
W:And what about dinner?
M:Sometimes I’m too tired to eat anything at all.
W:That’s too bad. You must have a well-balanced diet. But I think the most important thing for
you to do at the moment is to have a good rest.

In our country every school has a library.You have read many interesting books.You
borrow them from the school library,I am sure. Perhaps you also borrow books from thepublic library. Sometimes you get books from your parents or friends as presents,I
think.Besides,if you like reading and want to learn more knowledge,I am sure you often go to
the bookshops and buy books yourself.
Have you ever thought of how books are made?Well,after the draft of a book is written,
it passes through the hands of many people. Every one of them has to work very carefully,for
there must not be any mistakes in the book. It is checked several times by different people before
it is printed.
Millions and millions of books and magazines are published in our country every year. So
people have plenty of things to read.We all like reading. Let’s take good care of books.
