Dear Sir o r Madam ,
I am Li Hua, a senior 2 student. I am writing to bring to your attention a minor issue
regarding the English translation on the public notice boards on our campus.
I happened to notice that the translation in the canteen reads “Slip safely”. I believe there is a
grammatical error in this phrase. The correct phrase should be “Caution! Wet”. I suggest that we
correct this error to ensure clarity and accuracy in communication. Besides, Making this adjustment
will demonstrate our commitment to acceptance and attention to detail.

附:听力原文
Text 1
W: Would you like me to drive you to the train station this evening?
M: No, thanks. I’ll take the bus. But now I must walk to my office.
Text 2
W: You look so tired, are you all right?
M: My computer got infected by a virus. It took me the whole night to get it working again.

学科网(北京)股份有限公司Text 3
M: My lecture starts at 9:30 am. It lasts two hours, so I can meet you after that.
W: Fine! But hurry. I have my lecture at 1:30 pm.
Text 4
M: I cannot believe Tom didn’t back you up at the meeting. I thought he was on board with your
idea.
W: He told me he’d agree with me. How could he break his word!
Text 5
W: I ran into Sally the other day. I could hardly recognize her. Do you remember her?
M: Yeah, she was a little out of shape back then. Well, has she lost a lot of weight?
W: Definitely. Totally beyond my imagination.
Text 6
M: Excuse me. Could you please check to see if we could stay till the day after tomorrow? We’ve
found some extra things we’d like to do in this area.
W: OK. But maybe you need to change to the second floor.
M: All right. At least we don’t have to pack up again. We’d like it if we could put off our checkout
till Thursday morning instead of tomorrow morning.
Text 7
W: Hello, Bob! Receive you voice finally.
M: Hi, Penny! I’m sorry for breaking our promise yesterday. I was asked to work extra hours.
W: Well, I see. But anyway, you should have given me a call.
M: I meant to, but I was about to call when the manager asked me to finish a report. I was totally
tied up. I’m really sorry, Penny.
Text 8
M: What are you up to lately?
W: I have been reading a book named Maybe You Should Talk to Someone.
M: How do you feel about it?
W: It is wonderful. I got to this book by chance. Then I was attracted from the very first page.
M: Tell me more!
W: Lori Gottlieb, the writer, helps the readers become aware of his or her own barriers and
strengths. I could even relate to some of the situations in the book. It is very real and not boring at
all.
M: So it is nothing like the serious books written by Aaron Esterson or Erik Erikson.
W: You bet! Lori Gottlieb is an excellent storyteller. Plus, the chapters are bite-sized, both laugh
out-loud funny and inspiring.
M: Sounds good. I will give it a shot.
W: I am sure you will find someone to talk to after reading the book.
Text 9
W: May I see your passport please?
M: Here it is.
W: What do you visit the United States for, Mr. Lee?
M: I am going to attend a trade meeting here in Chicago from April 19th to 21st.
W: How long will you be staying in the U. S.?
M: For 10 days. I’ll fly back to Beijing on April 27th.
W: Will you do any traveling during your stay here?
M: Yes, I will fly to Pennsylvania right after the meeting. I finished my college there and I want to
visit some of my professors. I haven’t seen them since I went back to Beijing.
W: Do you have anything to declare?
M: I’d like to declare two laptop computers.
W: Are you a computer engineer?
M: No. My company makes laptop computers. These are our latest products. I am in charge of
the financing part.
W: All right, Mr. Lee. You are good to go. Thank you for your cooperation and enjoy your trip in
the U. S.

M: Honestly, I can’t believe my dream has come true. As a young man, I have always been
imagining moving to Los Angeles one day and putting my whole heart into music. Of course, at the
time, this seemed like a very distant hope. But thanks to my fans, supporters and my wife, I’m here
today. First, I released three twelve-song records, which slowly gained attention around my
hometown in Northern England and some nearby regions like Scotland and Ireland. And now, my
latest project, which was just a single song, caught the world’s attention. For that, I’d say it only
happened because I refused to give up. Through the ups and downs in my career, I did it all for the
love of music. So, being recognized for this award means a lot to me. To all the young musicians out
there, you can do it too. Plus, to all the fans and anyone enjoying my music, I’ve done this for you.
This award is for all of us — may many more great things come in the future. Now, put your hands
together for our host, Bob Cage, with the next award.
