My Understanding of Home
Bing Xin once said, “I don’t know what ‘home’ is, but unhappiness and worries melt away
once there.” For me, home is not just a physical space, but an emotional shelter. It is a place
where we feel safe and loved, where our troubles seem to fade away.
An example that illustrates this is when I recently faced a challenging situation at school.
Feeling overwhelmed and uncertain, I returned home. The familiar sights instantly calmed me
down. My parents helped me analyze the trouble rationally, even offering several proper solutions.
Their loving words and hugs allowed me to gain clarity and perspective. I renewed confidence.
In conclusion, home is not just a building or a place; it is a feeling of warmth, safety, and
belonging. It is where we can be our true selves and find comfort in the company of our loved
ones.

As the evening grew darker and the temperature dropped, Ian told Jeremy to leave him and go
back to their parents. But Jeremy still did not leave. He thought it was too dangerous for Ian to be
alone on such a cold, windy night. However, with the surroundings from chilly to freezing, Jeremy
decided that the only way to help his friend was to carry him down the mountain. So, they started
the long climb back to the campsite. Sometimes Jeremy carried Ian on his back. Sometimes he
carried him in his arms.
Finally, after four long and tiring hours’ climbing down, they came across their parents. Upon
seeing the two boys, their parents dashed to wrap them in their arms. All the fear, cold and even
pain were seemingly driven away by the reunion with their parents. Jeremy and Ian burst into
tears, sobbing out what had happened in this adventure. On the way to the hospital, Ian held on
tight to Jeremy’s hand, saying, “I’ll always remember what you did for me. You saved my life.”
Jeremy winked at him with a smiling face, “That’s the greatest thing that a person can do for his
friend.”

signature doodles. Welcome Mr. Doodle. It’s amazing that you’ve covered your house with

M: Well, the bedroom is actually the first room that I started. I doodled a different theme based on
the purpose of each room, including food in the kitchen, clouds in the “thinking room”, the

W: When did you start to draw pictures?
M: When I was about one year old. My mother taught my brother and I to paint. As a teenager, I
drew small comics about the subject with my friends. By the age of 25, I had chosen to be a
full-time graffiti artist.
W: How do you describe your work?
M: It’s just such a great process. I just make myself completely involved in this free-flowing state
of creation, and experience the joy of creation.
W: Do you have any plans for the future?
M: I want to build a “graffiti town” by doodling more houses in the area to further spread my
creativity. You know this house was just the beginning of my childhood dream of doodling an
entire planet.

W: Most young people like to enjoy playing on their smartphones in their spare time. But Li
Ruxue is different. He often does some research in a forest and isolates himself from the
outside world. In his college years, Li actively took part in field research with his teachers.
After graduation, he joined a gibbon protection organization, where one of his major
responsibilities was picking up gibbon feces. Through analyzing the DNA from the feces,
researchers can protect them better. So over the past four and a half years, Li has followed
gibbons and collected their feces for researchers. Though the work is a bit tiring, it’s
meaningful for him. He has never regretted his choice or felt alone. Like Li, Chu Wenwen has
also worked to protect animals. As her father is engaged in wildlife research, Chu has long
been surrounded by wild animals. After graduating from university in 2017, she decided to
follow in her father’s footsteps. She thinks she is lucky to live in such a great era when young
people can fulfill their aspirations, and the country strongly supports the nature conservation.
