(2024·江苏苏州·二模)①Science and technology makes our school life easier and better than before!
When your teacher gives lessons with his phone or pad, Bluetooth does help a lot. What is Bluetooth? Read the
article and find it out!
②If you look around the room you are in right now, you’ll probably notice a number of electronics (电器).
But can you imagine if they all had to be joined together by wires (电线)? Picture the wire snaking along the floor,
for example, from your smartphone to your speaker, or connecting your game controller to the computer screen,
meaning you could never sit more than a couple of meters away from it. A world of electronics connected by wires
would not only be untidy, but a possible danger, too. That’s where Bluetooth comes in. We’ve all heard of it—but
what exactly is it?
③Bluetooth is a method of short-distance wireless communication between electronics that makes use of the
power of radio waves. The idea was first thought of by Dr. Jaap Haartsen at Swedish mobile company Ericsson in
1994. Things really stepped up in September 1998 when the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) was set up to
develop and spread the technology. Bluetooth 1.0 came out in 1999, and a year later it began to be used in mobile
phones and desktop computers. Now Bluetooth has become an increasingly popular way of solving the problem of
more and more electronics needing to be connected without having to connect everything together with wires.
④But if you look at the remote control you use to choose the program on TV, you might rightly ask yourself
why Bluetooth was such a big deal. After all, connecting objects with infrared signals (红外信号) which can’t be
seen had been done before. The problem with remote controls is that they need to keep what is called “line of

sight”. If something is standing between the remote control and receiver, it won’t work. Because Bluetooth uses
radio waves, the things standing in the way are no longer a problem.
⑤Since its creation in the late 1990s, the technology has become more and more improved and widely used,
with the 4 billionth Bluetooth objects shipped (上市) in 2020.
1. If all the electronics in your room are connected by wires, your room will look ______.
A. tidy and safe B. untidy but safe C. tidy but dangerous D. untidy and dangerous
2. With the setting up of SIG, Bluetooth ______.
A. was able to connect all electronics B. made radio waves known to people
C. made infrared signals known to people D. improved and spread quickly
3. From Paragraph 4 we mainly get to know the ______ of Bluetooth.
A. advantage B. popularity C. standard. D. development
4. In which part of a newspaper can we probably find the passage?
A. Review. B. Nature. C. Technology. D. People.
【答案与解析】本文主要介绍了蓝牙技术的相关信息。

(2024·广东广州·二模)When visitors feel a need to sit down for a cup of tea or find a bathroom without a
long line in the Palace Museum, they soon will be able to turn to their smart phones for the information they need.
Thanks to an agreement signed on Friday by the museum and Huawei, this modern solution will use 5G
technology to build a “smart network”. Under the agreement, 5G Wi-Fi signals will cover the Palace Museum,
China’s royal palace from 1420 to 1911.
“It’s important to always stay close to the latest technology to better serve the public,” said Shan Jixiang,
former director of the Palace Museum. Shan said there was still much room for improvement in dealing with a large
number of cultural relics (文物). Such as when the priceless painting “Along the River During the Qingming
Festival” is exhibited again in the future. When it was last exhibited in 2015, visitors stood in long lines until 3
a.m. to have a look. The museum ended up preparing fast food to serve the hungry visitors. “I don’t want that
situation to happen again,” Shan said. “Our work can be done more scientifically.”
The new system will also make use of the closed-cameras that are set up all over the Palace Museum to keep
the museum’s valuable relics safe. More than 1.86 million of them are stored at the museum, which recorded nearly
20 million visits from the public last year. “How can we make sure no single visitor who might have bad ideas
endangers these treasures?” Shan said.
“After using the Internet of things, we can notice any movement about the relics at once to prevent such
danger.”
The 5G network also will be used to improve tele-meeting through cameras, in which scholars will discuss
together to find the best answers to repair and store issues.
1. What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to?
A. The smart network. B. The 5G technology.

(2024·山东临沂·三模)Every year, as the summer days grow shorter, an amazing change happens in
Canadian forests. As summer changes to autumn, the trees turn colors, changing from summer greens to shades of
red, orange, and yellow.
When I was a boy, my grandmother told me that a strange little man came at night with a paint brush to paint
the leaves those wonderful colors. And I believed her for it was a wonderful way of explaining this change to a little
boy. But as I grew older, my natural curiosity (好奇) led me to do some research on my own. As always, science
had the answer.
Trees need food, just like all lives. Leaves produce food for the tree. It’s just sugar, which is sometimes
called glucose (葡萄糖). Leaves use sunlight to change water and CO into oxygen (氧气). The process is known
2
as photo-synthesis (光合作用). A chemical called chlorophyll (叶绿素) helps make this happen. Chlorophyll is the
reason why leaves are green in summer.
However, Canadian winters are long, cold and dark. There isn’t enough sunshine in winter for the leaves to
make food. In autumn, as the days shorten, the trees get a signal (信号) to slow down. It’s time to take a rest. Don’t

worry, though. They have enough food prepared to last all winter.
When the leaves stop making food, they no longer need to make chlorophyll. Slowly, the chlorophyll
disappears. Remember, this is the chemical that makes leaves green. As the chlorophyll goes away, so does the
green color. We begin to see the other colors that are always there. We could not see them before because green is a
strong color.
1. Why do leaves become red, orange and yellow in autumn?
A. Because the chlorophyll goes away in the leaves.
B. Because green color has a chemical change with sunlight.
C. Because the trees need more food in winter.
2. Which of the following shows the structure of this passage? (①= Paragraph 1)
A. B. C.
3. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A. We could not see the other colors before because they are not always there.
B. The writer always believes his grandmother’s explanation.
C. When the leaves no longer need to make chlorophyll, the trees can change from summer greens to shades
of red, orange, and yellow.

brothers, being brothers, wouldn’t have cared. Then there was my father. The only person I knew would understand.
Still, I was afraid to tell him. He might tell my mother and very soon they’d try to stop me.
So I kept quiet, kept climbing, and felt a somewhat lonely joy as I looked out over the world. Then a few
months ago I found myself talking to the tree. This is a complete conversation, just me and a tree. And on the climb
down I felt like crying. Why didn’t I have someone real to talk to? Why didn’t I have a best friend like everyone
else? Sure, there were kids I knew at school, but none of them were close friends. They’d have no interest in
climbing the tree or smelling the sunshine.
That night, after dinner my father went outside to paint. In the cold of the night, under the porch light, he
went out to put the unfinished painting on a sunrise he’d been working on.
I got my jacket and went out to sit beside him, quiet as a mouse. After a few minutes, he said, “What’s on
your mind, sweetheart?”
I looked at him but couldn’t seem to speak.
He mixed two kinds of orange together, and very softly he said, “Talk to me.”
I sighed so heavily, and it surprised even me. “I understand why you come out here, Dad.”
He tried kidding me. “Would you mind explaining it to your mother?”
“I hope not, Dad. I understand now about the whole being greater than the sum of the parts.” He stopped his
work. “You do? What happened? Tell me about it!”
So I told him about the sycamore (无花果) tree. About the view and the sounds and the colors and the wind,
how climbing up so high felt like flying, and how it felt like magic.
He didn’t stopped me once, and when I finished my story, I looked at him and whispered, “Would you climb
up there with me?”
He thought about this for a long time, then smiled and said, “I’m not much of a climber, Julianna, but I’ll
give it a shot, sure. How about this weekend, when we’ve got lots of time to work with?”
“Great!”
I went to bed so excited that I didn’t sleep for more than five minutes the whole night. Saturday was right
around the corner. I couldn’t wait!

arms, walking slowly step by step to the opposite side of the mountain. Immediately, the audience broke into loud
applauses and cheers.
He asked the audience if they still believed he could go across when his hands were tied. In fact, some
people didn’t believe, but in order to know the result, they kept up a row, “We believe you!” Then, he had his hands
tied with a rope and walked past calmly.
He looked around and said, “If I’m blindfolded (遮眼) with my hands tied, do you still believe I can go
past?” This time, the people shouted without doubt, “We do.”
In this way, his eyes were blindfolded with a black cloth. He moved slowly to the tightrope and walked along
it little by little. This time, he went past once again. All the audience burst into cheers.
Then, he pulled over a child and asked all the people present, “If I put him on my shoulders while I’m
blindfolded with my hands tied as well, do you still think I can make it?”
All the people replied before thinking, “We believe you!”
“I ask you again, do you really believe me?” he asked the audience.
“Yes, sure!” replied the audience with one voice.
Then, he scanned all the audience and said, “Well then, since you believe me, exchange my child with yours.
Who will?”
All of a sudden, the audience fell silent. The awkward silence lasted for nearly ten minutes. After ten
minutes, the acrobatic master said nothing, just put the child riding on his neck and walked past along the tightrope.
Sure enough, this time he still succeeded.
Faced with things outlying their own interests, people can often make choices easily and quickly, but once

the center of the home’s courtyard, there’s a playground where the elderly can play with the kids. By doing so, they
can learn more about each other and gain mutual (相互的) respect and understanding.
I think this is quite an interesting idea. For one thing, we live in a world where aging societies are becoming
more common. China itself is facing this problem as its population ages. It will be important for young people to be
able to understand and care for the elderly in the coming years.
Sadly, my own grandparents weren’t around when I was little, as they had already passed away. I never got
to learn what the world was like through their eyes, or what kinds of challenges they might have faced when they
were my age. Their lives will always be a mystery (谜) to me.
But I suppose I can still learn from other people of older generations. I might find some of their ideas old-
fashioned, and they might believe that my generation’s way of thinking is strange or incorrect. But we can still
