Physical or online bookstores, which do you prefer?
Nowadays, opinions vary among people towards physical and online
bookstores. From my perspective, I tend to opt for the latter. The reasons are as
follows.
First and foremost, online bookstores offer a wide range of selections, even
some classic editions that are hard to find in physical ones. What’s more, just
with a click on the screen, we can pick and purchase books anywhere and
anytime, which saves us a large amount of time. Additionally, besides the
pocket-friendly discounts online, what seems unique about online bookstores is
the frank book reviews from other readers, which may also surprise us!
All in all, I prefer online bookstores for their extensive options, time
economy and high efficiency.

After much hesitation, I called Mom for help. I told her about the old lady
murmuring “My … daughter …” and my concern that she might be lost. Hearing
what I said, Mom arrived in a hurry, her nursing home uniform still on. She
gently approached and held the lady’s hands softly. “Auntie, I’m from
Greenfield. Do you live there?” With her eyes lighting up, she nodded slightly.
After checking with her workmates, mom confirmed she was actually from the
nursing home where she worked. She then carefully took her by the arm and
whispered comforting words in her ear.
Mom’s gentle care for the old lady inspired me to do something for the
nursing home. The next weekends, I often went to Greenfield with Mom. I
helped comb their hair and listened to their stories, just as Mom did. I also sang
the songs for the seniors, who clapped warmly. Seeing their bright smiles, I
finally understood Mom’s choice—to devote herself to caring for those in need.
Now, I become a volunteer there, deeply realizing that love and kindness are the
warmest companions for everyone, and that helping others brings a profound joy
which enriches my soul.
