In 1987, a small company named Huawei was started in Shenzhen. After more than 30 years of development,
the company has now beaten Apple and become the world’s second-largest maker of smartphones behind Korea’s
Samsung. It has also become the world’s largest supplier (供应商) of 5G.
But recently, Huawei faced some difficulties. The U.S. government ordered a ban (禁令) on its sales in
America. American officials said Huawei gave information that it collected to the Chinese government. At the same
time, the U.S. government planned to stop selling parts and services to Huawei, which was believed that Huawei’s
business would be hurt.
“We have never received such a request from the Chinese government and we have never tried to get into
other systems to collect information.” Ren Zhengfei, Huawei’s founder and president said. “This ban from the U.S.
would have little effect on our company. Huawei has enough ability to deal with the problems,” Ren added.
In an interview several years ago, Ren Zhengfei said, “I started Huawei with only ¥20,000 at the beginning,
but now it has become a $100 billion company. The experience was not as romantic ( 浪漫的 ) as you imagine.”
Facing the ban of the U.S., Huawei is growing. Huawei’s smartphone sales around the world rose 50 percent
compared to a year earlier in the first three months of 2020. At the same time, sales from both Samsung and Apple
fell. So far, Huawei has grown into the world’s largest telecommunications equipment (电信设备) supplier, selling
in 170 countries! It may beat Samsung as the largest smartphone maker in the near future.

What will the world of tomorrow look like? Many people today believe that technology is going to help solve
some of the most difficult problems we have on the earth today. New technology may solve old problems, and it
may also create new ones.___________ Each has advantages and disadvantages, as these three examples.
When we dream about the future, many of us think that we will be able to fly to the skies in our own personal
flying car. We could fly at 480 km per hour, avoiding traffic lights and busy roads. However, there will be problems
with traffic control.
3D printing is another new technology for the future. 3D printers are already used to make life—size models of
car parts, and man-made body parts, such as ears. As we move into the future, 3D printing will change the way we
make things and the way we treat sick people. The disadvantage is that such a machine is very expensive.
Finally, people are trying to build a robot suit. This is an electronic suit. It allows people to lift heavy things
and walk a long way. It might help people walk again after an illness or an accident. However, one disadvantage at
the moment is cost.
Looking ahead, it is easy to imagine a future. We’ll be able to fly to work, print out a new pair of shoes or lift a
car above our heads. Although there are some problems to solve before all of this is possible, we can certainlydream of a world. In this world, technology makes people’s lives easier and safer. It can solve some of the most
difficult problems we have today.
31.Which might be the missing sentence in Paragraph 1? ________
A.No technology is perfect.
B.Technology causes lots of problems.
C.We can’t live well without technology.
D.New problems will be solved by technology.
32.What problems may people meet if the flying cars become popular according to Paragraph 2?________
A.More air pollution. B.Harder traffic control.
C.More traffic lights. D.Busier roads.
33.What can a robot suit help people do? ________
①Produce electricity.
②Lift heavy things.
③Walk a long way.
④Walk again after an illness.
A.①②③ B.②③④ C.①③④ D.①②④
34.What is the structure (结构) of the text? P:paragraph. ________
A. B.
C. D.
35.What does the writer think of new technology? ________
A.He doubts it. B.He doesn’t mind it.
C.He can’t stand it. D.He looks forward to it.
D
(2021·广东·新丰县教育局教研室九年级期中)A scientist named Charles had a strange idea. He wanted to invent a new kind of car which could go without a
driver. It could also be used as a living room. That means you can go anywhere on your sofa in the car. You might
say that it’s impossible. But Charles succeeded in making it in a factory and named it Tridika.
Tridika has no wheels and it starts working when it reaches the magnetic levitation tracks(磁悬浮轨道). It
takes its energy from its tracks. And it works in the same ways as a magnetic train. It moves very fast. As everyone
knows, cities are developing rapidly. There are more and more cars running on the road. So parking space is
limited. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to park(停车). Tridika can solve this problem easily because it needn’t
park on the ground. Actually, it can park on the outside wall of the building with the help of an elevator system(电
梯系统). In this way, much parking space can be saved. When Tridika parks itself in front of your apartment, you
can get into your room directly. Of course, there must be a side door in the outside wall. Then Tridika becomes
another living room. It’s really amazing, isn’t it?
Tridika can hold six passengers. So you can go on vacation in it with your family in your free time. Of course
it can also be used as an office while you are traveling on the road. That is to say, you can travel and work at the
same time.
36.Who invented the new kind of car?
A.Charles. B.A driver. C.A factory worker. D.A passenger.
37.When does Tridika start working?
A.When it gets into your room. B.Before it parks on the outside wall.
C.After it takes its energy from the wheels. D.When it reaches the magnetic levitation tracks.
38.What’s probably the meaning of the word “limited” in Para 2?
A.封闭的 B.有限的 C.开放的 D.无限的
39.Why can Tridika save the parking space?
A.Because it can move very fast. B.Because it can hold six passengers.
C.Because it needn’t park on the ground. D.Because it could be used as a living room.
40.Which is the best title for this passage?
A.Tridika: a Free Parking Place B.Tridika: a Fast Magnetic Train
C.Tridika: a Strange Side Door D.Tridika: a New Driverless Car
