Nowadays, there are many celebrities who are famous for their glamour and wealth rather than achievements and this sets a bad example for young people. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
坑一:glamour and wealth vs contributions
坑二:bad example to young people
To extent / to what extent
Debates about celebrity culture often collapse two different questions into one: how somebody became visible, and whether that visibility was earned. The statement claims that fame resting on glamour and wealth rather than contribution sets a poor example for the young. Personally, I largely agree with the principle, although the line between packaging and genuine craft deserves a place in the argument.
One compelling argument is that glamour, once detached from contribution, teaches young audiences a distorted definition of success. This is because visibility is easily mistaken for worth: a performer who is filmed, styled and promoted receives the same applause as a scientist who spends a decade developing a vaccine. As a result, teenagers come to measure achievement by attention rather than effort, and the implied message is that being seen matters more than being useful.
Apart from distorting values, wealth-funded fame also conceals the machinery behind it. In other words, audiences see a polished stage but not the funding, the connections or the labour beneath it, so success appears effortless and therefore a matter of luck. Otherwise, if this illusion went unchallenged, young people without such backing would conclude that their own effort is irrelevant, and aspiration would quietly curdle into resignation. A recent example is telling: a teenage idol's debut topped streaming charts within days while her family's reported wage arrears of 3.45 million yuan remained unpaid.
Nevertheless, the criticism is not absolute, and this is where precision matters. Some young performers arrive with credentials that no amount of money can manufacture — a world dance championship, for instance, is won on stage rather than bought. Such talent deserves recognition, and holding a child responsible for an adult's financial conduct would be plainly unfair. However, cases of this kind are less likely to represent the majority, since algorithms reward spectacle far more reliably than they reward craft, and it is exactly this confusion that the statement is right to warn against.
In conclusion, fame built on glamour and wealth is a poor model for the young, mainly because it confuses visibility with value, as well as because it hides the advantages behind the shine. What young audiences need is not fewer stars, but a clearer line between the two.

① craft
② glamour
③ accountability
==Craft== is what survives the camera being turned off; ==glamour== is what requires it to be switched on. Confusing the two is how a thirteen-year-old's championship and her family's unpaid wages end up in the same headline — and ==accountability==, the one word that belongs to the adults in that sentence, goes missing.
高分搭配:survive the camera being turned off(镜头关掉后依然成立)/confuse A with B(把A与B混为一谈)/go missing(消失不见)
craft(自己挣的)|glamour(别人给的)|accountability(谁该认)
