Dear David,
Thanks for your letter. The field trip to WuYi Mount National Park leaves a lasting
impression on my heart. I experienced a range of emotions -- from the thrill of observing different
ecosystems to the awe of studying environmentally - friendly practices in the park. The trip really
fuels my curiosity and inspires me to explore the world around us.
Memorable as it is, the trip still has some room for improvement. We could gain a deeper
understanding of the biodiversity if we can be accompanied by a knowledgeable guide. Also, we
students are looking forward to more interactive activities, like nature hikes and educational
workshops.

W: American researchers say dust clouds from dry African deserts may be a threat to human health
in the United States. They say the dust may contain many small organisms that could be dangerous to
some people. Each year, huge storms form in the Sahara desert of Northern Africa. Winds carry the dust
across the Atlantic Ocean. The movement of dust has been increasing in recent years because of longer
periods without rain in Africa. From February to April, the dust settles in South America. From June to
October, the winds change and transport the dust to North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
More than half of the dust that reaches the United States settles in the state of Florida. For many years, it
has caused the skies there to turn red. There is probably a link between the dust storms and the higher
rates of breathing problems in people in this area.
