“Happy birthday, Dad,” I said, bringing out the quilt. Catching sight of the design on the quilt, he froze with
his mouth wide open and throat tightened. His smile lit up his face, as if he had been waiting for me. Gently I put
the quilt in his arms. My dad held the quilt close, saying, tears sparkling in his eyes, “This is the best gift I have
received. I love you, baby. Thank you.” A wave of warmth came through my body. I hugged my dad tightly, saying
in a guilty voice, “Please forgive me for not being able to see you early.”“Itdoesn’t matter! baby.” He said gently.
“I’ll show you around your old bedroom.”
As I stepped into my old bedroom, I noticed some lovely butterfly pictures on the walls. When I was watching
them, my dad said softly, “I’ve been collecting butterfly pictures over the years. I always hope you will come back
home some day.”Touchedby his words, I replied, “Dad,I’m here now . Let’s create new family memories
together.”It’s love that removed misunderstanding between us, which I felt deep in my heart.
