Dear Mr Green,
I'm Li Hua, a high school student who is very interested in our English website. I’m writing
to offer a suggestion on enriching it.
In my opinion, establishing a travel column would be a good choice. Here are some reasons.
First of all, travelling is one of the most popular ways to relax, so introducing a travel column can
attract students’ interest. Secondly, given that students are busy with their studies, it is difficult for
them to have a chance to visit famous scenic spots. Our website can help them make it. Lastly,
appreciating the beautiful rivers and mountains of our motherland can increase our sense of
national pride.
I trust that you will consider my suggestion favorably.
Yours,
Li Hua
Version 2
Dear Mr Green,
I'm Li Hua, a high school student with a keen interest in our English website. I am writing to
propose the addition of a new column.
I believe that adding a new column called “Travel” would be beneficial for the followingreasons. Firstly, as one of the most popular ways to relax, travelling has always been attractive,
never failing to appeal to readers. Additionally, due to our busy studies, we may not have access to
well-known scenic spots. For this reason, “Travel” will prove a perfect addition. Last but not least,
not only will it help us refresh ourselves, but it will also increase our sense of national pride.
I hope you find my suggestion acceptable.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节:读后续写
The clock struck 12 but the cartoon was still five minutes away from ending. Although
Peter really wanted to finish watching the cartoon, he tore himself away from the cartoon and
went home. As soon as Peter walked in, he was scared to see his grandfather lying on the
ground. He quickly ran over and asked what was wrong. His grandfather, in a faint voice,
uttered, “Blue bottle... find the blue bottle...” Peter immediately dropped to his knees and
started frantically searching the floor. At that moment, he was filled with regret for not
tidying up the mess he made when he knocked over the first-aid kit.
Finally, after a desperate search, Peter spotted the small blue bottle hidden under the sofa.
He rushed over, reached out to grab the bottle and handed it to his grandfather, tears welling
up his eyes and his voice trembling as he apologized, “Grandpa, I’m sorry!” His grandfather,
after taking the medicine, gently patted Peter on the shoulder and said, “Thank God you’ve
come home in time and find the life-saving medicine for me.” Realizing Grandpa was out of
danger, Peter felt a mixed surge of guilt and comfort overwhelming him, and at this moment,
he realized the importance of being punctual and staying organized.

W: What a coincidence, bumping into you here in the coffee shop!
M: Yes, the rain suddenly became heavy, so I had to dash into the shop to find shelter.

W: You must have a lot of fun.
Text 4
W: So, do you like this book?
M: It’s said to be a very difficult book, and now I completely agree.
W: Then why not read Charlotte’s Web? It’s more suitable for English beginners and it’s not
childish at all.
Text 5
M: So, what did you think of the trip? I thought the section on robots was fascinating. I need to
give a presentation on them, so it was very helpful.
W: Yes, I also got a lot of ideas for my presentation on space travel. That guide made it more
exciting than just looking at the displays, because the displays themselves weren’t organized
very well.

Text 10M: I’m deeply interested in ecology, and my hero is Rachel Carson. She was the first to make
people think about how our actions as humans are causing permanent damage to Earth’s
ecosystems. ⑱She began as a biologist, specializing in writing about the sea, ⑲but she gradually
became aware of the dangers of using pesticides like DDT and the way they can harm the whole
of the food chain. In 1962, she wrote her classic book Silent Spring to explain these dangers to the
general public. The title of Silent Spring refers to the fact that one day all the birds might be dead,
leaving us without their beautiful springtime songs. The agricultural and chemical industries
reacted negatively to the book, and said she was unprofessional. However, further research by
other scientists proved that she was right about the dangers of chemicals used to kill insects.
Today, there is a growing movement towards organic food production, but unfortunately the
situation overall is still getting worse rather than improving. ⑳We must continue to read Rachel
Carson’s book and reflect on its message.
