The rich aroma of freshly roasted coffee filled the air inside a quaint stone cabin in the eastern Chinese village
that houses Frank Sterzer’s café: Bamboo Coffee Roasters.
After more than 20 years as an engineer and executive with leading automobile companies in Germany and
China, Frank has found a new calling and fulfillment in the village of Maoli near Ningbo in Zhejiang province.
Inspired by his lifelong love of coffee, a passion for roasting beans prompted Frank to turn what had been a hobby
into a thriving business. “Zhejiang’s countryside has excellent infrastructure (基础设施) and beautiful landscapes,
第 5页/共 24页and I find it the ideal place to start my business,” Frank says. Maoli is located less than a 30-minute drive from the
Ningbo city center, striking a pleasing balance between urban convenience and rural peace.
For Frank, the experience of sipping a cup of coffee while enjoying a slice of handmade cake and gazing at the
countryside, captures the type of peaceful lifestyle he hopes to share with visitors. “Bamboo Coffee Roasters is a
place to share the charm of this mountain village with visitors from all over the world,” he explains.
The café is named after the abundance of bamboo around Maoli, while its logo was inspired by a photograph
Frank took of a nearby bamboo forest. He has also created a small coffee factory behind the shop front, where
excellent beans from around the world are neatly stacked next to gently humming roasting machines. He roasts 10
metric tons a year. All these have become key components of the café’s success.
Since opening in June 2024, Bamboo Coffee Roasters has quickly become a popular destination, attracting
visitors from near and far including international travelers taking advantage of China’s expanded visa-free policies.
Frank’s own family took advantage of this policy, with his mother and siblings visiting last year.
Before the Spring Festival, the café was welcoming guests from all over, including nearby cities like
Hangzhou and Shanghai. “We came to Ningbo for local delicacies and business, purchasing local produce. Products
such as honey oranges, bamboo shoots and tea have also found wider markets, thanks to the café’s popularity,” one
tourist said.

Art has always occupied a special place in society. Many people consider artists to be the ultimate authorities
on the nature and expression of beauty. For much of history, the practice of art was mysterious, and artists were
viewed as being somewhat odd and often mad. Even the word most commonly associated with artists —
inspiration — has its own magical qualities. Literally, “inspiration” is the breathing in of a spirit. Artists were
thought of as people who were uniquely inspired to create.
Of course, artists contributed to this mythology. Many artists credited their talents to the presence of some
supernatural power. Whole movements of art have centered on the supposedly otherworldly nature of art. For
example, the Romantic poets believed that art was a term that meant an ultimate expression of beauty and truth.
The search for this ideal led them to explore both natural and supernatural themes in their works.
Another persistent view of art regarded its separation from logic. Reason and logic were the province of
scientists and philosophers whereas creativity and insight were the area of the artists. The two separate aspects of
the mind were supposed to remain distinct.
But in 1704, a major breakthrough occurred. Sir Isaac Newton, mathematician and physicist, published his
study of light, Opticks. One of Newton’s major discoveries was on the nature of color. Using a prism (棱镜),
Newton found that white light is actually composed of all the colors of the rainbow. He even provided a scientific
explanation for the presence of rainbows. The artistic community was shocked. A scientist had taken a beautiful
and magical experience and explained it as the simple refraction (折射) of beams of light through the prism of a
raindrop. A scientist had ventured into their sacred territory.
More than a hundred years later, John Keats, one of the most famous Romantic poets, accused Newton of
reducing beauty by “unweaving the rainbow”. His colleague, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, famously remarked that the
souls of five hundred Newtons would be needed to make one Shakespeare. And yet, from another perspective,
Newton did not reduce the beauty of the rainbow; he enhanced it. In his search to uncover the secrets of the
rainbow, Newton demonstrated the wonder, creativity, and inspiration of an artist. He also gave the world another
opportunity to experience the sublime (绝妙). Newton’ s discovery paved the way for the development of the
science of spectroscopy, a way of analyzing the chemical makeup of light. Now scientists can look at the stars and
know their composition. The sense of wonder this ability creates is not much different from the wonder the poet or
artist feels when staring at those same stars.
第 8页/共 24页8. According to the passage, what was the common view of artists in history?
A. Artists were uniquely inspired creature.
B. Artists were considered logical and rational.
C. Artists were seen as inspired and somewhat strange.
D. Artists were thought to be without any supernatural beliefs.
9. How did the Romantic poets react to Newton’s discovery about light and color?
A. They credited Newton’s insights to mystical influences.
B. They felt it faded the poetic beauty of natural phenomena.
C. They were inspired to integrate more scientific themes in their poetry.
D. They believed a new dimension to the appreciation of beauty might arise.
10. Why does the author mention John Keats’ and Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s views on Isaac Newton?
A. To highlight the impact of scientific discoveries on artistic perception.
B. To state that Shakespeare’s knowledge of beauty was unmatched.
C. To emphasize the superior creativity of poets over scientists.
D. To show that Romantic poets objected to scientific progress.
11. What is the main idea of the passage?
A. It emphasizes the artistic understanding of science.
B. It discusses the contrast between art and logics.
C. It highlights Isaac Newton’s influence on arts.
D. It shows the Interplay of Art and Science.

Superhuman artificial intelligence has played a role in our life. When it comes to playing games like chess, or
solving difficult scientific challenges like predicting protein structures, computers are well ahead of humans. But
we have one superpower they aren’t close to mastering: mind reading.
We are blessed with a mysterious ability to reason the goals, desires and beliefs of others, a crucial skill that
means we can anticipate other people’s actions and the consequences of our own. If AIs are to become truly useful
in everyday life — to cooperate effectively with us or to understand that a child might run into the road after a
第 10页/共 24页bouncing ball — we have to give them this gift that evolution has given us to read other people’s minds.
In psychology, the ability to infer another’s mental state is referred to as theory of mind. In humans, this
capacity develops at a very young age. How to reproduce the capability in machines is far from clear, though. One
of the main challenges is context. For instance, if someone asks whether you are going for a run and you reply “it’s
raining”, they can quickly conclude the answer is no. But this requires huge amounts of background knowledge
about running, weather and human preferences.
Besides, whether humans or AI, the theory of mind is supposed to emerge naturally from one’ s own learning
process. Building prior knowledge into AI makes it reliant on our imperfect understanding of theory of mind. In
addition, AI may be capable of developing approaches we could never imagine. There can be many forms of theory
of mind that we don’t know about simply because we live in a human body that has certain types of sense s and a
certain ability to think.
But we might still want AI to have a more human-like form of theory of mind. Humans can clearly explain
their goals to each other using common language and ideas. While letting AI form the theory of mind in their
learning process is likely to lead to developing more powerful AI, plainly building in shared ways to represent
knowledge may be crucial for humans to trust and communicate with AI.
It is important to remember, though, that the pursuit of machines with theory of mind is about more than just
building more useful robots. It is also a stepping stone on the path towards a deeper goal for AI and robotics
research: building truly self-aware machines. Whether we will ever get there remains to be seen. But along the way
thinking about other people and other agents, we are on the path to learning to think about ourselves.
12. According to the passage, which of the following contexts can AI understand well?
A. When a mom asks her kid to drink a glass of milk, the kid drinks it up.
B. When kids see their mom after hurting themselves, they cry even louder.
C. When a teacher asks for a boy’s homework, he answers “my cat ate it”.
D. When you are treated with a spicy hotpot for dinner, you reply “a sore throat”.
13. Which statement will the author agree with most about theory of mind?
A. Humans’ theory of mind is far from perfect.
B. Humans limit AI’s theory of mind to an extent.
C. AI’s theory of mind development has been fully uncovered.
D. Shared forms of theory of mind lead to more powerful AI.
14. What is the author’s attitude toward truly self-aware machines?
第 11页/共 24页A. Ambiguous. B. Subjective. C. Approving. D. Skeptical.
15. Which would be the best title for the passage?
A. AI with Its Own Theory of Mind Is Anticipated.
B. AI’s Theory of Mind Will Define Our Future.
C. AI’s Theory of Mind—a Blessing or Suffering to Humans.
D. Theory of Mind Bridges the Gap Between Humans and AI.

第二节(满分 25 分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
For the past ten years, my dad and I have attended the same school-he as an administrator and I as a student.
Our relationship, in and out of school, has been a wild, unpredictable ride.
When I was younger, all that my dad said was doctrine (信条) and anything did I, naturally, copied. I was his
little shadow, imitating his every move. We played games together, and stayed up late reading bedtime stories.
They were some of the best times. I could count on my dad taking me to school, running into him regularly during
the day and riding home with him every afternoon.
As the years ticked by, I hit my pre-teen years. Things started to shift. Suddenly, my dad wasn’t the cool guy I
once thought he was. He wore his socks too high, listened to horrible country music and laughed too loudly in front
of my friends. How horrible it was! He became the source of all my teenage embarrassment. However, the disasters
that occurred in school were even worse. The worst one happened in seventh grade. Our class was having a New
Year party, and there he was, dressed up as Donald Duck. With a guitar in hand, he sang the most ridiculous song.
第 22页/共 24页Just kill me! I just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole. So I ran away as fast as my legs could
carry me.
This struggle continued well into high school. But then, something unexpected happened. It was around the
time of my 10th-grade physics project. The assignment was to construct a wooden bridge that had the best
strength-to-weight ratio (比率) . All the students and physics teachers participated. And guess what? My dad, the
only administrator, decided to join in. Instantly, that familiar feeling of embarrassment washed over me, and as
usual, I fled the scene.
注意:1. 续写词数应为 150 个左右;

【答案】But hours later, my friends ran up to me, their eyes shining with excitement. They couldn’t wait to tell
me how my dad’s bridge was the talk of the school. So unique was his design that it had everyone amazed. It not
only withstood the weight test effortlessly but also looked incredibly elegant. I was dumbfounded, my initial shock
gradually turning into a sense of pride that I couldn’t contain. The image of my embarrassing dad started to fade,
replaced by one of a creative and capable man.
That evening, I gathered all my courage and walked to dad. Standing before him, I said sincerely, “Dad, I
heard about your amazing achievement in the physics project. I’m truly proud of you.” His eyes widened in
surprise, and then a warm smile spread across his face. He pulled me into a hug, saying, “Son, your words mean
everything to me.” At that moment, I felt a strong bond rekindling between us. From then on, I began to see my dad
