Choose to Eat,Eat to Choose
A recent survey was conducted among pupils from our school regarding their food choices,
which revealed some interesting insights.
Compared with the recommended balance of good health, our school’s pupils consume less rice
and other grains,as well as fruit and vegetables, which account for only 20% and 18% of their daily
diet respectively. Eating habits like this may lead to a lack of nutrients. When it comes to food
containing fat or sugar,a healthy consumption should be less than 9%. However, for our pupils, this
number is alarmingly high at 45%,far exceeding the healthy proportion.
In light of these findings,I would like to suggest that the school should offer more healthy
options and launch educational campaigns about balanced diets to raise students’ awareness. By
making conscious choices about what we eat,we can ensure a healthier life.

One of the judges asked softly,“Can you explain how your rocket works?” I froze. My
stomach dropped. I hadn’t prepared for that question. “Uh... well,it’s a rocket,” I stammered. “It
looks really cool and,um,shiny.” The judges raised their eyebrows. One of them asked,“Did you
test it to see if it could fly? Did you research how rockets are built?” I felt my face turn red.
“No,” I admitted. “I didn’t test it,and I didn’t really learn about rockets.” The judges nodded
politely and moved on. My heart sank. Deep down,I knew I hadn’t really tried.
When the awards were announced,my name wasn’t called. I didn’t win anything. My rocket,
with all its glitter and shine, wasn’t enough. It wasn’t about how good it looked;it was about the
effort and care that went into the project. I realized then that nothing’s enough if you don’t care
enough to do it well. The next year, when the Science Fair came around again,I made sure my
project wasn’t just cool to look at. I researched,I tested,and I cared about what I was doing. I didn’t
win the gold medal, but I knew I had done my best. And that felt like a victory all on its own.

M:When we think of gardening, many imagine an elderly person tending plants in their front yard.
However,a recent study among 2,000 young adults aged 18 to 34 reveals that gardening is
gaining popularity among the younger generation. Kev Smith, who led the study, stated that
gardening is suitable for people of all ages. On average, these young adults spend about two
hours a week caring for their plants. Two-thirds of the participants mentioned that they enjoy
shopping for gardening essentials, such as seeds and tools. Interestingly, gardening gloves are
the most frequently purchased and used item. The kitchen window is the most favored spot for
growing plants, followed by living rooms, bathrooms, and balconies. While 60% of those
surveyed wish they had more outdoor space,78% believe that a large area isn’t necessary to
enjoy the benefits of gardening. Gardening is excellent for mental health,as it encourages
focus, involves repetitive actions, and engages the senses, especially touch and smell.
